After purchasing my 2019 Ford F150 equipped with a V8 engine I noticed a loud knocking or tapping noise coming from the engine and a large consumption of oil happening. With no visible leaks I was putting about 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil a month in the engine to keep it filled. Loosing that much oil so fast could cause the engine to experience a catastrophic engine failure at any driving speed causing danger to me, my family, or other drivers on the road. Not to mention the environmental impacts caused by the engine burning so much oil so fast in possibly thousand of trucks across the country. I scheduled service with a Ford dealership. I have taken the truck in twice to have it looked at. Dealership has performed several service bulletins on it but it is still making a knocking and tapping noise and using excess amounts of oil. I have been told by ford dealership that they are aware of the problem and unable to determine if, or when, problem will be able to be fixed. This seems unacceptable knowing the truck is still under factory warranty. I have looked for answers online and found this engine in 2018-2021 Ford F-150 trucks is causing the same problem for a HUGE amount of other Ford truck owners as well.

I got the truck with 10,00 miles and currently have 47,000 miles. I have been having oil burning issues since the beginning, but it has gotten worse. When I was adding the oil myself before having the dealership do it I was having to add almost 4 qts per 5-6 thousand miles. I have been taking it to the dealership every 1000 miles for oil consumption test. Typically, my oil burns over 1/2 qt per 1000 miles so the dealership claims. I have also claimed about harsh shifting and clunking noises. Most recently I took it in for the harsh shifting of the transmission and 4 wheel drive while the did the oil test. They reflashed the transmission and topped off the oil. The dealership then forgot to put the oil cap back on (I didn't think I had to check their work) the next day after a short drive there was oil all over my engine, electrical systems, battery, suspension and underbody because of the missing cap. They took the truck back and then claimed only a 1/2 qt was gone. The dealership after a few days tells me it is all cleaned and ready to go. I got the truck with oil all over the place. So they keep the truck yet again, few days later I get the truck back and my truck is shifting worse in some ways now than before the flash. Today I had to take the truck in for an engine light about the catalytic converter failing. While they had the truck there it then gave a bunch of codes of powertrain body control all related to lack of power and powertrain failure. displaying a bunch of red lights including a gear wrench on the instrument cluster. These only appeared after the tech scan the first code. The dealership now has my truck yet again and have said it will be at least a few days.

On Monday, January 9, 2023 the vehicle shut off while driving in traffic, and was difficult to restart. It seemed like the battery was dead, but it wasn-??t. This incident happened again within about a 15 minute time Period. Safety was obviously put at risk as this happened in a major metropolitan area, Miami, on the road during rush hour. The dealer has had the vehicle for the last two weeks, but was not able to reproduce the problem and cannot find anything wrong. When the vehicle shut off, a warning came up on the dash which said -??auto stop, put the truck in park and restart the engine.-?? But again, it did not want to turn over to restart, and only did so with difficulty.

cam phaser recall performed by dealer prior to 36k miles. at 36k miles, returned to dealer with same rattle noise from engine, dealer said was noise from backpressure at exhaust near turbo. at 40k miles, engine failed in middle of intersection. Advised by dealer the engine is total loss and will need to be replaced, declined to agree that the cam phaser timing chain was the result, stated that the issue was in the lower end of the engine, which is where the oil pump is....that runs off the timing chain. prior to the failure, I experienced slight power loss, complete momentary power loss shifting between gears 2 and 3, slight knocking noise from the engine that mimicked a diesel engine sound, as well as the stated rattle noise.

11-Jan-2023 18:01 CST approximate temperature 47F. Commuting home the vehicle was driven approximately 30 minutes on the highway. Stopped for fast food and it was turned off for less than 10 minutes. Restarted without issue drove out to a stop light to make a left turn. Auto start-stop turned off the engine but failed to restart. Put vehicle in park vehicle would not restart normally, and multiple restart attempts failed. Restarted vehicle with an jump start battery pack. Drove straight to Autozone and battery tested fully charged on printed receipt. Vehicle restarted normally twice in parking lot. Drove home battery tested 12.7 volts with multimeter. I don't suspect that the battery is the issue. The vehicle battery management system should detect a low battery and disable auto start-stop. My preference is not to have to work under the hood in the middle of traffic in the dark.

I own a 2019 Ford Raptor with 62,000 miles. At 27,000 I had warranty cam phasers replaced under warranty. I just had same issue come up again at 62,000 miles and ford dealership mak haik in Jackson Ms is saying it-??s not warranty because I didn-??t bring truck in for an update that I knew nothing about. My extended warranty CNA National has turned my claim down also because they followed my dealerships decision. The cam phasers on f150 eco boost are a bad problem for this truck and it should be a recall and definitely fixed at no cost to customers. I-??m without a ride as of now and I owe 4 more years on this truck. They are expecting me to pay 3,800 to fix it while others that noticed a letter are repaired. This is not right!!!

I purchased a 2019 Ford F-150 from AutoNation Ford in Panama City, Florida in 2020, along with a bumper-to-bumper warranty through The Ford Motor Company, covering the car until 140,000 miles. Over the last 20 months my truck has been back to AutoNation at least 5 times for various mechanical issues. To their credit, each time the Service Department was eventually able to resolve each issue. During this week's 4.5 hour visit to the Service Center I was informed that my engine is faulty (Google "F150 oil consumption problem") and needs to be replaced; it survived less than 80,000 miles. Replacing an engine is a hassle, but I have a warranty and Ford is a trustworthy American company that makes America proud. Unfortunately, I was told that Ford is not allowing any existing customers to get on a list for replacing my particular engine (5.0L V8). Ok, but I have a warranty through Ford. That has to be worth something, because it cost me +$3,000, and Ford sticks by its products and their commitments/promises can be believed and they told me it covers a rental car if there is ever anything that takes more than a day to fix on my truck. Surprise, the warranty apparently only provides a rental car for a maximum of 5 days, and I could be waiting for 12 months or longer. No offer of loaner, a way to expedite the repair, someone to call, any kind of help-??just, -??sorry, we-??ll let you know if Ford starts letting people back on the list, until then, you-??re on your own.-?? The options provided by Ford: 1) Drive with your check engine light on (engine sometimes stalling) and top off the synthetic oil every week or so until the engine inevitably fails 2) Rent a car and pay out of pocket for all but 5 days for a potential +12-month delay for Ford to fix my truck 3) Shine a light on their dishonest business practices in hopes that either a regulatory authority or enough public shame will force Ford to stand by their word and their product. This is disappointing, frustrating, unsafe,
