The vehicle information screen in the center of the dash has failed. Some of the functions such as hands free cell phone connectivity, navigation, and radio functionality fails requiring manual intervention while driving. This results in distracted driving to correct the issues. The design and expectations are hands free operation of those functions via voice commands, controls on the steering wheel, or automatic functionality. At times the screen goes completely black and distracting noises come from the radio. Upon review of various forums, this appears to be a known long term problem with this important component on several Ford models. This functionality is right in your face and when it doesn-??t work, I and most other drivers are focused on the fix and distracting from driving.
I was driving and the windshield wipers started wiping on their own. It was not raining and the windshield wiper setting was on off. This caused dirt and debris on the windshield to smear and I could not see where I was driving. For the next few days windshield wipers would randomly turn on on their own. It svwrely affected visibility. I read online that this was a common issue due to a malfunctioning windshield wiper switch. I replaced the switch and am hoping this doesn't happen again.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the navigation system had malfunctioned, requesting several prompts to be pressed to produce to the desired direction on the screen. The failure caused the radio, Bluetooth, and rearview camera to fail to operate as needed. The contact performed a master reset for all the parts to function properly; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
My Synch 3 system has been acting up since I installed Fords last update. It shows the back up camera when I drive forward. The screen will also go black forcing me to reset it. The reset doesn't work for more then a couple of days and doesn't completely ix the issues either. I cannot get it to pair my phone either and have not been able to use hands free while driving for 3 months now. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by Ford as there are numerous complaints on line.

This complaint with the NHTSA is to bring to your attention malfunctioning Sync 3 systems caused by an Over the Air (OTA) update Ford has pushed out to vehicles without permission from owners that has caused the Sync Systems to malfunction. Backup camera screen view while driving in a forward direction and reocurring pop-up screens which require driver interaction are two primary concerns. Loss of handsfree phone and navigation functionality are secondary concerns. I believe an investigation by the NHTSA is justified. Ford issued the software update that broke my Sync 3 system. Ford has stated that no software update is currently available to fix it. Replacing the APIM will fix the Sync 3 system. Vehicles under warranty are eligible for a no-charge APIM replacement. Vehicles out of warranty, like mine, are subject to +$1000 Ford repair charge. I believe Ford is responsible to repair all Sync 3 systems that they broke. These repairs should be made regardless of warranty. This likely warrants a recall by Ford as soon as possible. Here is a link where the F-150 Community has been discussing this issue since April 2023: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-3-memory-issue-538739/index34/ I have logged the issue with Ford directly as well. They are not offering to help me resolve the issue because I am out of warranty.
Tsb 22-2254, causing people's voice command and rear camera issues. There are many issues with Sync 3 on this matter. It should be a recall. They did it for the other models. 2019 f159
My truck backup camera is not working. It goes black or distorted to where you can-??t see anything behind you. It identical to a recall on other 2019 Ford F150s. But my truck is not on that recall. If the problem is the exact same, shouldn-??t it be fixed through the recall as well?
After being park for over 6 hours, Truck spontaneously started to smoke, sparked, and caught fire at 1253am. This ignition was inside the engine compartment on the passenger side. All was recorded on 24hr video monitoring and my truck was in stock condition without any aftermarket parts and no warning lights on. Incidentally my truck had just been routinely serviced with the past month by the dealership and all was fine. Within minutes the truck was engulfed in flames, my neighbors and I attempted to extinguish the flames until the fire company arrived within 6 minutes. Within this short less than 15 minute window the entire engine and cab was destroyed. If this truck was parked in a garage this incident would have been catastrophic. Luckily no one was injured and the prompt response of my neighbors and the fire company prevented this from catching my home on fire. The police and fire company reviewed the video and informed me to notify any safety board and The Ford company directly. In review this problem is not new and well document in the past. There are recalls in place for the same make and model vehicles with the same fire starting in the front passenger side. Unfortunately my VIN was not included in this recall.
Beginning 3 months ago, intermittently during in-town traffic driving, the vehicle will shut off. It happened about once a month. Three weeks ago when it did this, it said Low Charging System, so I took it to the dealer where purchased it. The Alternator tested Low, so it was replaced. Two weeks later, it died at a stoplight again & at Idle, then the Dash Message said Disengage Auto-Shut Off and Restart Engine. I called the dealer where purchased it & they came and got it. They tested it for a couple days & also had several people drive it, and they said it did fine with the Auto-Shut Off Turned On. Well this afternoon I drove it local around my own town, and it's still runs rough. It idles rough and is acting like it wants to die again at stoplights. I only way to be comfortable driving it is with the Auto-Shut-Off Disabled. In traffice at a redlight that turns green, and if you're stalled out, it's going to cause a rear-end collision. Not to mention it's hard on the battery and alternator having to keep restarting at intermittent intervals in traffic. The dealer said they drove it around their lot area, however, it doesn't do it unless drive it for 45 minutes or an hour. When discussed this with 3 area Ford Dealers, they all said it's going to be hard to find. There's no Check Engine Light or any sort of Code that can be used. They also stated it's probably something small causing it. One specific dealer stated that something else is causing this issue, and until that is found and fixed, it's going to keep doing it. The dealer that's been handling this and purchased from, did a Factory Reset on the PCM.
After purchasing my truck, it was discovered that the back up camera doesn't work. It will work on occasion when the truck is put in reverse. The safety for myself or others is that I cannot see behind me when backing up. I have not taken the vehicle in for an inspection since I have been told that this is an issue for other Ford F150's in the same year. When backing up my screen says camera not available.
Back glass shattered for no reason, alone on a state highway with no houses and other traffic. Thousands of not hundreds of thousands of other people have had the same thing happen to them in f150s for years apparently. A quick google search didn-??t take long to read hundreds of other f150 owners sharing the same experience. Ford refuses to accept responsibility for what is an obvious design flaw. Broken shards of glass flying around in the cab. Luckily I didn-??t have my grandson in the backseat today.
Rear tailgate opens when door opens without activating the remote/automatic feature that opens the tailgate. It also opens when I-??m traveling in traffic. It-??s a danger to me and traffic if something is in my truck bed or even if nothing is in there and it opens and someone is too close it will hit there vehicle
On Monday, January 9, 2023 the vehicle shut off while driving in traffic, and was difficult to restart. It seemed like the battery was dead, but it wasn-??t. This incident happened again within about a 15 minute time Period. Safety was obviously put at risk as this happened in a major metropolitan area, Miami, on the road during rush hour. The dealer has had the vehicle for the last two weeks, but was not able to reproduce the problem and cannot find anything wrong. When the vehicle shut off, a warning came up on the dash which said -??auto stop, put the truck in park and restart the engine.-?? But again, it did not want to turn over to restart, and only did so with difficulty.
11-Jan-2023 18:01 CST approximate temperature 47F. Commuting home the vehicle was driven approximately 30 minutes on the highway. Stopped for fast food and it was turned off for less than 10 minutes. Restarted without issue drove out to a stop light to make a left turn. Auto start-stop turned off the engine but failed to restart. Put vehicle in park vehicle would not restart normally, and multiple restart attempts failed. Restarted vehicle with an jump start battery pack. Drove straight to Autozone and battery tested fully charged on printed receipt. Vehicle restarted normally twice in parking lot. Drove home battery tested 12.7 volts with multimeter. I don't suspect that the battery is the issue. The vehicle battery management system should detect a low battery and disable auto start-stop. My preference is not to have to work under the hood in the middle of traffic in the dark.
When I put my vehicle into reverse, I get a warning that the backup camera is inoperable. Ford already has a recall on Some backup cameras but refuses to address mine because of the VIN not being on their list. Others at risk? Whenever I need to back out of a parking space. The onboard computer should have the records of the many times the camera was needed but not working. I am unable to afford the cost of a service call as I am a senior citizen.
