Vehicle lost power and flashed 3 warning messages. 1) hill start assist not available. 2) see manual. 3) service advance trac. In addition the service engine light stays on. All of this happened while I was making a left turn in traffic almost causing a collision. This is the second time it has happened. After first time dealer was contacted and service department reported no problems found. Appointment currently scheduled to look at it again.

While driving my truck it began to sputter and then the engine stopped completely. I was just shy of a busy intersection and had no power. The error message was "driver hill assist not available" which did not correlate to the problem at all. The engine light was also illuminated. After getting the truck to the Ford service center they found the electronic throttle body (etb) had failed. I have 50,000 miles on the vehicle. The shop said that they normally do not stock many parts but this was one they always keep in stock. The technician claimed he had seen 20+ failures in the fast year. Research on line indicated that there is more than 60,000 complaints in Ford vehicles regarding the failure of this etb. There was action initiated by the nhts and a recall was waived provided that Ford extend warranty for this part. That did not happen in my case. My bill was $604.92 more importantly I could have lost power in the middle of that intersection or during a long drive home where no cell reception was possible. I was lucky to have broken down in a town with a Ford service center before my 3.5 hour trip back to denver. Fyi, I called Ford customer care and they said that I was not part of a "customer satisfaction program"... interesting choice of words, because I didn't feel like I was part of anything at Ford nor were they concerned about this issue. In fact, they claimed it was not a significant problem.

Sadly, we feel we have purchased a lemon occasionally engine or transmission squeals/grinds, if accelerate too quickly/power up.,and now, on cold days [temps low 40S & under] hear rubbing/grinding whirring at left front tire" gets louder when depress brake, and can feel in brake pedal. Sound occurs during slow forward speed 2-40 mph, on gravel driveway or paved road. Scheduled service today for noise; they were more interested in fixing recall item [locks - rpr time 3+hrs], if they had parts in stock. Recall srvc completed [under 1 hr], and "no noise was heard." I requested further look for cause of noise, service advisor said quick lane would check suspension?. 2 hrs later, nothing seen, nothing heard, nothing repaired. As I pulled away from dealership, having signed off on service, the truck immediately began making the noise [funny serv advsr didn't hear when he brought truck around?]. I drove less than 1/10 mile back to dealership, took the service advisor for ride; at which point he acknowledged he heard noise, but tried to assure me it's a 'tire issue.' My husband and I believe otherwise - this is not tire noise, the noise never crescendos or changes pitch with increase or decrease speed, on gravel or asphalt, and we have never felt 'tire noise' in brake pedal. This noise/friction merely ceases after you've driven a few minutes [for now]. service advisor assured me I was not doing any further damage to truck, continuing to drive it without resolution to the problem. I asked him if I needed new tires, he said indeed not, mine are in great shape [original tires] with 63,000 miles on them [but it's a tire issue"]. something's up [similar concerns have been raised in forums on the internet- along with dealer dismissal/failure to resolve. We want our truck repaired [resolution of these mechanical failures] while it's under warranty, or we want a new vehicle.

While driving on the highway at 75 mph the truck shuttered violently and the engine shut down. Immediately it flashed a warning that the "hill climb assist" malfunctioned followed immediately by a wrench symbol notifying that service was needed then another warning about the advance trac system then back to the hill climb assist symbol. All of this happening while the car behind me is almost sideways trying to avoid me. I eventually made it to the right shoulder of the highway. As I read the various warnings it said to refer to the owners manual with regards to the hill climb assist. I turned the ignition off, pulled out the owners manual only to find a description of the hill climb assist feature. After waiting for about 5 minutes I decided to turn on the ignition. The truck started without issue and I continued home cautiously in the far right lane.

I would like to highlight safety concern on Ford F-150 intake throttle failures. I believe there has been a recall on this part for a different S/N range of Ford F-150. This VIN was not in the list. When this fails, you lose all power and truck goes into neutral. Was towing loaded trailer in 4 lanes of high speed interstate city driving. Almost was in serious accident. Ford customer service did nothing or indicate that they were going to look at S/N range impacted. I am a chief engineer at caterpillar. I understand the business of effective S/N and what is included in mandatory recalls. Their lack of action is a concern.

I have a 2015 F150 king ranch with the 3.5L ecoboost. It has 41,000 miles and never had an issue until yesterday morning and today around lunch. This was from yesterday 10/23/17: Hill descent control fault service advancetrac hill start assist not available I was pulling out onto a highway and the truck began shaking violently, moving very slow with no acceleration, power steering was lost, and the dashboard was showing all the above errors. Luckily there were no vehicles coming when I entered the highway and there was a place to safely pull off the highway. The truck continues to idle rough and shake violently. And today 10/24/17: I was driving down the interstate at 70 mph when the truck did the same thing as yesterday morning. I was able to pull off the side of the highway and shut off the motor. Once I restarted the engine, I was able to get it to the local Ford dealership. They say they have no idea why it would be doing this and have not heard anything from Ford or seen this in other F150's they have serviced. Update: The dealership claims the fix is in a faulty electronic throttle body and they replaced it at a whopping price of $770. A simple google search shows Ford has issues with etb's across vehicles of all classes and knows about it. In fact, some consumers seem to be involved in lawsuits against Ford because of their unwillingness to issue a recall before someone is fatally injured. These were scary, scary situations with my vehicle and thank god my wife and kids were not with me. There is obviously an issue and Ford needs to correct it at their expense.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not gain speed when the accelerator pedal was depressed. During the failure, the messages and warning indicators for the hill start not available, traction control, and check engine displayed and illuminated. After shutting the engine off and back on, the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred two days later. The vehicle was taken to jemmims anderson Ford in boerne, tx where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Defective electronic throttle body causing "limp home" mode. I was driving home pulling my camper up a large bridge in Michigan during heavy traffic condition and the truck went into limp mode causing loss or power to tow the camper up and over the bridge. I alsmost created a serious accident with people slamming brakes behind my when I went from 70 mph to 0 in less then 150 ft. It has since happened several more times. I took it to a dealer and they knew exactly what the issue was and charged me $200 for deductible on the repair. I see all over the web that this is a known issue and Ford is doing nothing about it. When this occurs you feel a little lag in the performance when you press on the gas pedal for a second or two. The the hill decent warning will light up followed by the traction control fail light. The vehicle will then slow down to under 5mph and engine will re running very rough. You can shut the vehicle off and restart to get you further down the road but as times goes on this will continue to get worse and then happen every mile or so. Here is a great video someone did on the issue to capture the problem. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=cfdenhjmq84

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While making a right turn at a stop sign, the vehicle experienced stalling, a loss of engine power, and severe vibration. All of the vehicle's warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to folsom lake Ford where it was diagnosed that the throttle body caused the vehicle to go into limp home mode and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle experienced a leaking driver side turbo and a blown solenoid. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and started the process of vehicle buy back. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

On 2/23/2017 while driving 50-55 mph on an expressway, the vehicle throttle became unresponsive. The tachometer still showed about 1,000 rpms, dash lights began illuminating, advancetrac was disabled, hill start assist was disabled, the wrench light enabled and a check manual light enabled. There also was a hard shift or clunk sound that came from the transmission. After shifting the truck into neutral while coasting, I attempted to turn off and restart the engine. Engine successfully restarted, but the throttle remained unresponsive and all warning lights mentioned above returned. I pulled the truck safely to the side of the highway, and attempted to restart again. This time the engine sputtered and then I turned it off. Next I removed the key, opened the door, closed the door, locked the truck, waited for the accessory lights to turn off, unlocked the truck, opened and closed the door and then restarted, and the truck seemed to clear the problem. I took the truck to the dealer and they later told me the truck is not storing any error codes in it's memory.

On three occasions now while accelerating the vehicle suddenly looses all power. There have been audible warning sounds and check engine lights, also messages such as hill assist not available. On all occasions I was turning on to a street from a complete stop and accelerating. Turning off the engine seems to correct the problem. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer twice now.

The first time I noticed the problem was when I went to pass another vehicle. I did a hard acceleration to pass and my 2015 F150 3.5 ecoboost engine stalled in the passing lane on a 2 lane highway. I was doing 45 mph. I immediately got back into my lane behind the vehicle I was passing. After that incident I have occasionally accelerated hard to see if the engine would stall. Sometimes it would stall and sometimes it would not. I took it back to the Ford dealer and they replaced the throttle pack but it still stalls. They are at a loss on what is causing this erratic acceleration problem. They say they have not had any service bulletins from Ford relating to this. This happened not long after I purchased the vehicle with less than 2000 miles on it. I now have 18000 miles on it and this problem has been ongoing since I bought it. The dealer and I have been waiting to see if Ford will offer a solution but so far they have done nothing.

On Friday 10/28 while driving down the interstate at about 55 miles/hour at approximately 6:30pm with vehicles ahead of and behind my truck, the vehicle began to give a number of check engine alerts, at which time the engine rpms dropped to very low levels and began to stall and the accelerator no longer responded. Had truck towed to the nearest dealership within the hour. I was very lucky in this situation, for had I been in a construction area or on a bridge, the situation could have been much worse. This same situation occurred on the evening of 10/2 while driving 40mph down a state road near my home and according to the dealer who attended to the issue, the brake module had failed which caused the symptoms to arise. In that instance, the accelerate failed to respond and the engine began to stall, which it did when I pulled to the side of the road. They replaced the module a few days later. In addition, the driver side door vibrates and does not latch properly. Two dealers have failed to resolve this issue to date and I believe it is a safety concern that has largely been dismissed by the service technicians and dealerships involved. Despite numerous documented attempts to resolve this issue with Ford customer service, they have ignored this concern, have failed to respond to me in a timely manner, and declined a buyback request. I am submitting lemon law documentation for the vehicle during the week of October 31. I have spent hundreds of dollars on rental vehicles during attempted repairs to the doors and the brake module since Ford claims they will not cover the cost of rental vehicles during warranty repairs. Repair documentation attached pertains to repairs for 10/2 occurrence since the dealership has not yet had an opportunity to inspect my vehicle since it was dropped off yesterday evening. I will gladly provide info once received.

Driving the Ford F150 (V6 ecoboost) on a city street (35 mph) it has failed at random times (I've now seen this issue more than 3 times) usually with 3 major failures. These 3 failures (1) engine, transmission, and emissions 2) brakes & suspension 3) restratins & driver assistance) cause the truck to transition to 'limp' mode which can actually be just as hazardous. If I'm turning onto a road with a 55+ mph speed limit I need to accelerate but if this system fails, along with the restraints & driver assistance, this could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation. The reason why is that the restraints & driver assistance goes off now disabling my airbags, etc. And if I now get hit (because now I'm in limp mode going about 7 mph) I have lost a great deal of 'built-in' protection without the airbags. Translate that to driving on a highway and encountering this situation and you can see that loss of life is not out of the question. I've taken the truck back to Ford for the warranty work and they say they believe it's an electronic throttle body controller that has gone bad and needs to be replaced but right now it's at least 3 weeks before they can get a replacement part. Compounding this issue is that Ford had issued an internal recall for V8's built at the same plant as my V6 ecoboost truck for the same type of issue.

The issues started around mid July 2016 with about 11-12K miles. I was turning onto a side road where doing maybe 10 mph and the engine stalled, it restarted while in motion and I continued. The hill start assist and advance trac warning lights came on. Later that week it happened repeatedly. The dealership here in town (not where I bought it) looked at it for a few days, they thought it was because of, "all the after market stuff (radio etc) I had (professionally) installed". they believed it was the power converter so they replaced the converter when it came in (the 110V converter) I got my stereo stuff reconnected and kept driving it. Then the engine would not stall, but the warning lights would flash advance trac and hill assist. After a few days, it began to stall again, almost getting me hit pulling onto a road with 50mph traffic. The truck died, and wouldn't "restart" itself. So here I am parked on a two multilane 50mph roadway trying to start my truck without getting killed. It also happened again while pulling off this same road into a side street with a big ass rv coming at me, I was able to coast into the side street and then restart the truck. I brought the truck back in and they said that it might be the throttle body. So, I got my truck back today with the throttle body replaced. I go to drive away and my head unit/ display will not illuminate properly. I thought it was dimmed, but it wasn't. so I drive in a circle to bring it back and it illuminates like it should. So I leave and I drive back down the main 50 mph road and while accelerating away from a stop light there, the advance trac and hill assist lights flash on again. I take it right back and it is now there getting looked at again.
