The service advancetrac and hill descent control fault come up on my dashboard and my power steering does not work. While most vehicles can be driven without power steering but this truck is not drivable without that feature. The lights and blinkers do not work. These faults happened while driving and I almost lost control of my vehicle and crashed. I'm lucky I didn't hit and kill somebody. This is a huge safety issue for which afford already knows about but refuses to fix our truck.

The power steering fails without warning. At times it requires 'muscling' the steering to turn or straighten the wheels after a turn. It happens when the vehicle is in motion on city streets, highway and turning. There are a lot of other Ford F-150 truck owners having the same problem as reported on different sites. This is a serious safety concern as it causes the driver to potentially lose control of the vehicle B/C it's unpredictable. It's very expensive to have 'fixed' if the service department even knows what to do or the repair fails! there have been recalls on this problem but only in a very limited date range. Also the power steering seems to be failing on other Ford vehicles, as even reported to NHTSA. Imagine losing steering while traveling on I-80 (esp in pa) or negotiating a turn. Please investigate!!!!

Power steering is only working intermittently. There was a recall on the model year, but my truck was not included. I see several online complaints about this from other owners that weren't in the recall. I live in a mountainous terrain with windy roads and if the power steering quits when zi don't expect it, I will veer off the road and have to jerk it back on.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and both rear wheels seized. The steering wheel also seized and became difficult to steer without warning. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally, but the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

2014 Ford F-150 stx 4 door. I bought this truck new and it's been a problem since around 26,000 miles. I reported the issue with Ford, took it to the dealer which went for a 30 mile joy ride I guess to tell me the problem couldn't be duplicated. Absolutely enrages me how this type of product can be sold to hardworking individuals knowing that there's an issue that puts lives at risk and still deny the claims. This vehicle has absolutely ruined me from driving and makes me sick every time I drive. There is no rhyme or reason as to which way the truck will go while driving. Driving down a road it travels from one side to another. If you get on the interstate and the wind is blowing you may as well get off and go all backroads or get ready to stroke out before you get to where your going. I don't think anyone understands the stress on a body of traveling on a freeway fighting to keep your vehicle on the road. The car in front of you moves it pushes the truck the opposite way, a car beside you it either pulls you toward them or big trucks nearly blow you off the road like your in a small car.you can never judge how much pressure to put on the wheel when making gradual or sudden turns on a road or highway because it's never the same. One minute you turn the wheel all the around to make a small turn and the next turn you barely touch the wheel and it may send you into the next lane. I was told by Ford to drive with one finger on the wheel that the epas notices the slightest movements and that I'm countering what it was designed to do. Absolute bs! I'm glad to see I bought a 40,000$ pos and the only thing Ford can do is give a smirk when I take it in knowing good and well they have an issue. How you don't have a recall going puzzles me and scary to think how many others are out there with the same problem traveling on highways. Junk

I was driving down the road, going about 45 mph, I went to switch lanes from the right lane to the left lane, and when suddenly my power steering (power steering assist) went out on my vehicle, as this happened, the steering wheel jerked left, causing me to run off the left side of road, I grabbed the wheel and with all my might fought the steering wheel to go back right, and barely escaped hitting a huge oak tree, the truck was then not able to be driven.when I tried to drive it again, the steering wheel would not let me turn it, it was fighting me and trying to go the opposite direction of whichever way I tired to make it go. If I tried to turn left, if fought me to go right, when I tried to turn right is fought my to stay left. No matter which way I tried to turn it, the power steering assist seemed to disagree. The error on my dash said "power steering assist fault". I started doing research online and found that Ford did a recall on my model, and year for a problem with "power steering assist", the same issue that my truck is showing in the error, but Ford say my truck was not part of that recall. I also found on some forum websites many other people having the same issue happen to them, and putting them in dangerous situations.

While turning to the left I heard a sequelching noise. I then got a message to service my acutraction system. I would turn my truck off then back on and it would reset and go off. This took place for a few days. While message was on the lever for my turn signals would not stay activated. Today (9/25/2018) I got the message again. This time I also got a power steering assist failure and it became very difficult to turn. Truck only had 66,000 miles on it. I have got rid of truck because of it. I have also had a fault in the air bag control module.

Loss of steering control while vehicle is in motion. Intermittent loss of power steering assist causing you to over steer or under steer especially when coming out of a turn. Many complaints of this issue are posted on various internet sites. Partial recall of epas unit for certain VIN. My vehicle manufacture date is August 22, 2014 per Ford customer care. Manfacture date is just weeks after recall lot of identified vehicles. Vehicle cannot be safely driven

First received advance trac warning, then hill descent warning and then power steering failure indication. Power steering failure was sudden and unexpected and almost caused an accident when in motion doing a turn, due to electronic power steering system lock up which prevented the front wheels from turning as much as expected. This is a very dangerous unexpected condition and could have caused a serious accident with injuries or worse if occurred at highway speeds!

My son was only traveling straight at a low speed on a side street when he was no longer able to steer his truck. He then applied the brakes to stop. He had to turn off the truck wait a few minutes then turn it back on several times to get home. We checked to see if this major manufacturing defect was covered by warranty or a recall. No warranty of course (2014 F150 with 53,000 miles) the recall for this exact problem was for trucks built between May 26, 2014 and June 19, 2014 and of course my son's was built in October 2014. We are told that it will cost somewhere around $2000 to try to fix this and more than likely it will continue to fail even after being "fixed". Ford knows it's been a problem since they started with it but refuses to fix the problem for everyone. They would rather risk the lives of their customers than correct their issues. I have checked online and found that even after people pay to get this fixed it continues to fail. Recall number 14V316000 recall date 06/12/2014 component steering:electric power assist system summary Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured May 26, 2014 to June 19, 2014, and equipped with electronic power assist steering (epas). The affected vehicles may have an incorrectly installed epas gear motor position sensor magnet that can lead to a total loss of steering control while driving. Consequence a loss of steering control while driving increases the risk of a vehicle crash. What owners should do Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the epas steering gear, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Note: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until they have been remedied. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S09.
