Rear seal on brake master cylinder failed and all fluid went into brake booster resulting in complete loss of brakes. This was a huge recall but did not cover my vehicle. Emergency brake had to be used to stop the vehicle. I was on city street and narrowly avoided a crash at an intersection. Vehicle was towed to mel hambleton Ford in wichita ks. Diagnosed there and currently being repaired for approximately $800. Recall does not cover my VIN number and there is no warranty.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to apply excessive force to stop the vehicle. The contact continued driving and later took the vehicle to mcfarland Ford sales (located at 151 portsmouth ave, exeter, nh 03833, (603) 772-5953). The vehicle was test driven and the contact was informed that the front and rear brakes needed to be adjusted and the rotors needed to be turned. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact later took the vehicle to portsmouth Chevrolet (located at 549 us-1 byp, portsmouth, nh 03801, (844) 299-6541) where the front and rear rotors were replaced with the air vent rotors. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and informed the contact that there was no recall on the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 22,500.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While driving 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to respond and the brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the master cylinder and booster needed to be replaced. The contact called nick nicholas Ford Inc (2901 fl-44, inverness, fl 34453, (352) 726-1231) and was referred to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 88,030.
While driving, I had a "low brake fluid" light come on. When I approached the next intersection the brake pedal went almost all the way to the floor. I then pulled into a parking lot and the brakes failed completely having use the emergency brake to stop. I opened the hood and inspected the master cylinder and found that there was no brake fluid. I also noticed that when I removed the cap on the master cylinder the there was suction in the reservoir. My conclusion is that the master cylinder has failed and the brake fluid is being sucked into the brake booster. I called the Ford dealer service department and was told that there was no recall on this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 F-150. While driving 70 mph, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to stop. The emergency brake was engaged to stop the vehicle and the low brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to five star Ford lewisville (1144 N stemmons fwy, lewisville, tx 75067, 469- 470-4900) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The contact stated that the failure should be included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was 163,000.

Low brake fluid light came on as I was coming off the freeway on the off ramp. Pressed brakes and had no brakes. I had to use the parking brake to avoid smashing into vehicles at the stop light. After getting vehicle stopped into a parking lot. I looked up my vehicle for recalls. Had a recall for brake master cylinder blowing fluid into the brake booster. Took the car to my local Ford dealer, and due to the miles, they gave me the impression my vehicle was not covered by the NHTSA recall and that they would have to get authorization to fix the vehicle, otherwise I'd have to pay for it. (never knew recalls were subject to mileage)
Driving in the new orleans french quarter, audible warning tone and visual indicator said "brake fluid low". added one container of brake fluid, proceeded 1/2 mile. Again, audible warning and visual indicator showed low brake fluid. Added fluid to line in container. 1 mile, same indicators. Upon inspection, all brake fluid has leaked into the brake booster. No visible leak or fluid on the ground. This could have caused a serious accident. There is a recall on this for the same year vehicle but it supposedly does not include this VIN #. apparently it should.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. When the vehicle was started, the brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, the warning indicator reappeared. Also, the brake pedal was depressed and went straight to the floorboard. The vehicle was towed to jim hudson Ford (located at 1201 w main St, lexington, SC 29072, 803-359-4114) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000. The VIN was not available.
Driving down the highway, trying to change lane to exit the road, press on my brakes to slow down, then my brakes light came on, saying iam low on brake fluid, and my breaks dont work, the pedal went al the way down to the flood. Put on my hazards light on, and let the truck slow down to an exit, very slow to stop while driving. Found out there a recall on my truck, call Ford #, they tell me that the truck had been service before in 2016, and there only one recall fix per vehicle. So iam out luck, the brake booster and master cylinder have to be replaced again..at my own expense...
We were leaving to get lunch, came up to a stop sign at about 30mph with a car coming downhill on the road we were getting ready to take. I attempted to use my brakes to stop at the stop sign, I was unable to stop and had lost my brakes. There was a grinding noise and my foot that was on the brake was fully pressed. We rolled through the stop sign, cutting off the car. I found the brake booster, vacuum / master cylinder to be an issue after taking it to a mechanic and dealership. This was the second time I've had these parts replaced with about 9,000 miles difference between the two instances (the first instance was unreported to NHTSA). Ford was contacted but I was informed there was nothing that could be done due to my state's (Ohio) lemon law.
Advancetrac service keeps coming on and steering and brakes begin pulsing and shaking and can't hardly turn, has happened when going straight and when turning while going from 35 to 70 mph on highway or side street. Only 19000 miles
When pushing on brakes after stopping, the pedal becomes soft and goes farther down. This has happened several times when stopping at a traffic light, stop sign, and trying to park on driveway.
I experienced a total failure of the brakes system. The brake light was not on and only came on later. The oil reservoir was totally empty and a even with a quart of oil added the reservoir is still empty with no visible leak. I was lucky to be able to stop the truck in a snow bank and no damage occur. I contacted Ford and was told that my truck was not on the recall list but according to the recall (2013-2014 F-150 3.5liters) I ask why but got no answer.
The bolts that hold the front brake caliper mounting brackets to the front spindle on both sides of the truck will come out on you, and it causes the caliper, and the caliper mounting bracket to come off on you.in my case, it came completely off once while backing up, and the other side came completely off while driving down the road. I still had somewhat back brakes left to get stopped. However, it sounded like the whole front end was coming out of it. I honestly thought the 4 wheel drive transfer case and transmission was falling out of it, due to the noise it made, and the jerking, jumping and wobbling it done when it came loose. Had I of been in rush hour traffic on the freeway, it would have caused a wreck if I would have had to stop quickly. I was lucky one come off while backing out of my driveway, and the other came off driving in my neighborhood going 20 mph. This was a scary situation due to it being a sudden event, with no warning what so ever each time it done it. I never would have thought a new truck would have a problem such as this, because it is basically the brakes falling off of it.
Failed master cylinder dumped all brake fluid into booster, resulting in complete loss of braking. Only the parking brakes still work, and they perform terribly. Occurred without notice during highway driving.
During a stop on city street at approximately 15 mph, the antilock braking system engaged on dry pavement for no reason but then lost all braking and ran into rear of a stopped vehicle.
Driving down the interstate at 70 mph, the "check brake system" warning flashed on the dash. I went to push the brake pedal and it was locked in place. I physically could not depress the pedal, not even enough to disable the cruise control. I had to switch cruise off on the wheel, shift to neutral, and coast to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. Shut the truck down, turned back on and the code disappeared and my brakes worked again. Later that day, the exact same thing happened on the interstate again. Physically could not depress the brake pedal. It was like it was locked in place and I could not bring the truck to a stop. I took my truck into the dewey Ford in ankeny, ia a couple nights later and they began diagnostics. 4 days later, they could not reproduce the problem, and advised me to come pick up the truck. Nothing against the dealer, as they cannot fix what they can't reproduce, and they were kind enough to provide a loaner and a discount on the diagnostics fee, but Ford corporate really needs to get involved on this safety concern. I've tried calling their customer service, but they will do nothing until it can be diagnosed. If the dealer can't find the problem, then Ford needs to send a product support representative to diagnose it themselves. As of today, my truck has done this 4 times since leaving dewey, but always when I am too far from their store to drop it off. At this point, im scared to drive my truck in traffic or with passengers. Please use your powers to relay this to Ford as we have a serious problem that they are ignoring. I have a receipt from the dealer for the diagnostics if a copy of this is needed for my complaint.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While reversing the vehicle, the brake pedal became stuck to the floorboard. The contact drove the vehicle back onto the driveway, inspected the vehicle, and found that the brake fluid was leaking through the brake lines. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle's warranty was expired. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
At 61,000 miles, while driving on the highway, my master cylinder suffered a sudden catastrophic failure (total brake fluid leak). This resulted in required replacement of entire front braking system at dealership.
