The contact owns a 2013 Ford Ford F-150. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. After shifting into the neutral position, the vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. The failure recurred five times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for diagnostic testing. A flash update was performed on the cpu each time the vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

Next was stopped at a light and my rear window shattered, glass company said they have done a ton of these and was due to a short in rear defrost causing the window to shatter" Ford dealer stated they didn't know if it would be warranted that send in S photo to Ford to be determined warranty or not "

My 2013 Ford F150 has had two dead batteries since I purchased in July of 2013 brand new. The first one happened Nov of 2014, they put in a new battery and the second in Feb 2015 Ford dealer can't seem to find anything wrong so they basically just put in a new battery, currently 15K miles.., but there is a power draw somewhere. This can leave me and my family stranded some where, not safe!

Vehicle would repeat law battery message. Took to dealer battery tests good. Vehicle would sometimes die overnight with a no start condition in mourning. 6 dealer visits and one new battery, "no problem found" from dealer. This vehicle could strand you at any time. I have a open case from Ford but problem continues.

Using the factory remote, I started the 2013 Ford F150 for first time of the day 12/18/14 and entered vehicle 5 minutes later. Put key in column ignition. Did not touch any controls. With the transmission still in park, a very loud noise occurred. One section of the rear window / backlite had shattered top to bottom, edge to edge. The outdoor temperature was 24F, the heat setting was 67F. Vehicle was backed into driveway with garage behind. Nothing could have hit the window from the outside and the vehicle hadn't moved, yet the glass practically exploded. There are dozens of very similar experiences shared on several internet forums involving years 2010 forward of the same model truck -- same generation. Ford has not created a tsb and there isn't a recall, and Ford has made no indication that they will do anything about it. They referred me back to a dealer to document the damage. Local Ford dealer told me afterward that the rear window defrost turns on automatically with the remote start feature. Now driver visibility is obscured and I'm concerned about the safety of the electrical heating element. Reportedly fires have occurred with this situation. I won't be using the rear defrost under any circumstances -- even in northern Illinois, in the winter. It seems most owners have been denied warranty claims because Ford stated the damage was to glass, which isn't covered under the warranty. The glass isn't the problem, its the evidence. Ford said it is up to the dealer to determine if the damage is due to a manufacturer's defect to get replacement under warranty. The dealer service manager told me they submit a warranty claim with photos to Ford which will either approve or deny the claim. The dealer quoted $800 installed to replace the entire backlite assembly. The two different stories are troubling. I'm already preparing myself for the run-around.

Rear defogger overheated and shattered rear glass window. Rear window eventually started to fall out. This is a real safety issue in bad weather. Ford has no recall as of today and a lot of these rear windows are being shattered.

Vehicle sputtered and stalled while slowing down on freeway. After towing to dealer, dealer could only find loose battery cable. 2 days later engine stalled again while accelerating on freeway with same symptoms. Vehicle will not start and is with dealer who initially said no issues can be found. Vehicle symptoms match description of "limp mode".

My 2013 Ford F150 XLT began flashing a warning saying service advancetrac. Then it immediately begins flashing shift to park. The truck then begins to downshift causing a rapid slowing of the truck.. when I get to the side of the road to stop I hear metal on metal grinding noises from the engine compartment that I believe is the transmission trying to shift to park... the truck then loses all blinkers and flashers as well as all lighting on the instrument panel. I was able to drive it to a safe location off the road this time.. the truck randomly continues this and its been in the shop several times and they say nothing is wrong with it. I finally got fed up and began video of the dash display in order to document my safety and problems. This truck is 9 months old and has 14000 miles on it. It has done it again and all electrical systems would not reboot and left me stranded for a long time. We have been driving on I95 at 75mph during holiday traffic and it happened again and we literally thought we would be killed because cars had to slam on brakes to avoid our disabled car. It was even scarier since my 6month old daughter was in the vehicle then.we are at a loss because Ford has completely ignored the problem and just assumes I will stop making them fix this at some point. I'm in a 1 car family and bought this to accommodate my new baby and have her a safe ride...this problem is dangerous and it is going to hurt or kill someone if its left unaddressed. [xxx] at jim hudson Ford service has told me he knows its something wrong with it but Ford will not allow him to fix it under the warranty terms for new trucks. 2013 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to airbag system, cruise control system and other electrical issues. The consumer stated he returned the vehicle to the dealer twice, for the issues. The dealer failed to identify any electrical faults in the air bag system. A month later, during service on the air bags, the horn failed to operate.

Since approximately 5700 miles, when I take long trips in the vehicle (30+ miles), the TPMS light will come on with a message saying "tire pressure sensor fault." If I continue driving the light will eventually turn off and occasionally come back on in the trip. The light has always come on at freeway speeds. The truck has been brought into the service department multiple times without any guaranteed fix. The service department did replace a faulty, non-responsive TPMS sensor, but the problem continues. The issues usually occurs at night, but has happened in the daytime.

Only happened once but I tired to use the key fob to unlock the doors. It did not do anything for the truck, none of the buttons would. Unlocked the door with the key had to start it before the alarm went off. Locked it grabbed the spare key came back a few minutes later the same thing happened. Neither key that came with the truck would respond, dealership could verify the problem.

As I tried to accelerate to pass a vehicle the motor in my truck started to miss, the check engine light flashed on and off and I was not able to accelerate. The motor proceeded to idle even though I was pushing in the gas pedal. After about 15 seconds of no response to the gas pedal being pushed the entire truck started shaking as though it was about to fall apart. Another 30 seconds later and everything went back to normal. This occurred in a 2013 F-150 with the ecoboost motor.

The directional control lever on this vehicle requires the driver to engage the lever multiple times to indicate a change from a right turn to a left turn and vice versa. For example, making a left turn from one roadway onto another roadway, and then needing to make a quick right turn off of the 2nd roadway requires the driver to first disengage the left directional, and then in a 2nd motion, engage the right directional. It is not possible to merely move the directional lever up (to indicate a right turn) after turning left in one fluid motion. It requires a) holding the lever down to indicate a left turn B) in the middle of that turn, hitting the lever right two times to indicate a right turn. This is contrary to how typical directional levers work. Often it is not possible to signal your intentions to other drivers in a timely fashion - or, the driver may hold the lever up, thinking he has engaged the right directional, but has merely disengaged the left.

As of January 28, 2013 my 2013 F-150 has continually had electrical issues resulting in a dead battery that has not been corrected as of today, 3/10/2014. Error messages that arise include " battery saver on' and "audio off" indicators and after jumpstarting the vehicle will start with the key in the "on" position and in some cases such as mine, the vehicle will not shift out of 5th gear until the ignition is cycled off and then on again. Over the course of the previous 2.5 months I have had my vehicle in the dealership service department 6 times totaling over 30+ days. This vehicle has left me stranded on multiple occasions requiring me to find someone to jumpstart it each time. There are an increasing number of complaints on this year model for the exact same issue with no resolution from Ford. I have utilized every possible avenue to get this issue resolved and am hoping that by filing this complaint I can bring greater attention to an issue that is affecting a growing portion of F-150 owners.

When out to truck in the morning to clean snow off. I retrieved a pair of gloves out of the backseat and nothing was out of the ordinary. It was approximately 7 degrees F outside. I then went inside and remote started the truck. After a few minutes I went to get in the truck, looked in the rear view and noticed the middle, sliding rear window was open. I turned around and found that the center glass was broken and had shattered into the truck. The two side panels were both completely shattered and still intact. I took the truck to the dealer and asked the parts and service department if this was something they had heard of. I told them I felt like the rear defroster combined with the cold exploded the window. They said they had never heard of that. The vehicle is currently at the dealership being repaired at a cost of $1,420. I have filed a complaint with Ford and am awaiting a call back as they opened a case number for me. As this stands now it looks like it will come out of pocket and will be filed against insurance.

Repeated problems with check engine light, reduced power, and poor gas mileage. The 2013 Ford F150 XLT crew cab with 3.5 V6 ecoboost has had repeated problems with the check engine light appearing at engine startup or while driving at city or highway speeds. The cel stays on for several days then disappears. If the check engine light is on the engine goes into limp mode with reduced power and gets extremely poor gas mileage of 11 mpg. The vehicle has been serviced by 2 different Ford dealerships 7 times for the same problem. The last service took 13 days 12/20/2013-1/3/2014. A case was opened with Ford on 12/14/2013 and assigned to a Ford regional rep. Ford refuses to buy back the defective vehicle and asks that the truck be taken back to a Ford dealership until the problem is resolved. This is a safety issue in that the driver will think there is an engine problem, brake or reduce speed and potentially cause an accident. The reduced engine power during cel is a safety risk. Copies of shop invoices and case number from Ford are available upon request.
