Having issues with the ecoboost accelerating upon take off or getting on to road ways numerous times I have come close to getting hit because of no power upon accelerating now this has been going since purchase new with only 116 miles and purchase date 3-17-2013. The dealer says this is normal operating condition for the vehicle to have lag time before power.my feeling is if you are sitting at a light and you give the vehicle gas the vehicle will move slow and then do a sudden acceleration and could cause death or injury to someone unsafe truck. Now I'm having issues with the driver window not going down or when it is down will not go up they say this is normal operating procedure Ford has some issue and they need to be corrected before someone gets killed or hurt bad.
While accelerating to merge into traffic on the highway my truck lost acceleration at 60 mph. I let off the throttle and eased into it. The whole truck started shuttering and transmission was shifting extremely hard. It was all I could do to maintain speed. At the first stop light I shut the truck off in an attempt to reset the ECU. Once I took off it didn't happen again. It's just scary knowing that I could have caused an accident while trying to merge into traffic. This is not safe at all.
This is in reference to a loss of power while passing in rainy conditions in my 2012 F-150 crew cab 4X4 3.5 V-6 eco boost. After driving at slow speeds (25-35mph) and fairly constant throttle on a 2 lane highway for approximately 30 miles, I attempted to pass a vehicle starting at 50 mph. As soon as I was on boost I experienced a significant loss of power forcing me to take violent evasive maneuvers including full braking and hitting the shoulder, to barely avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle. As the bed was empty I assumed that I spun the tires on the very wet highway and hit a rev-limiter as it felt like I lost several cylinders. Once it returned to 6th gear and about 1500 RPM the engine ran normally. Subsequently I have rolled on the throttle slowly when requiring full power in wet conditions. After reading about the other similar issues I realized that I had experienced a problem with the turbocharging system. With this in mind I now regularly go to boost where I don't need the power to remove the condensation from the intercooler when conditions are wet.
Driving turnpike at 1:30am with wet roads but not raining. Cruise control was engaged at 75 mph. Approaching a bridge and upon starting to climb on the incline I heard a noise that sounded like the transmission had disengaged then the engine light started pulsating on and off so I tried to accelerate and the truck did not react but since I was going 75 it took me over the bridge and then I coasted down the bridge with the cruise control disengaged. I pulled over to the side and placed truck in park the engine was still on. I turned off the truck and waited about 1 minute then I turned the key back on and the truck started up with no engine light or any sign of problems. I drove all the way to miami with no further incidents. I took the truck to Ford of homestead and they said they could not pull a code out of the computer that showed anything had happened. I later took the truck again this time making noises when U accelerated it sounded like the transmission was shuddering and again nothing they could do to replicate it. Again on or around March 2013 I took the truck to another Ford dealer and tried to replicate the shuddering between 3 or 4 th gear to no avail. The truck this past weekend on the same bridge again with wet roads made the shuddering sound and feeling but the engine light did not come on and the truck upon getting to the top of the bridge continued without having to be turned off and on. At first I thought this might be a transmission issue but whenever I guess the truck accelerates to gain speed to go over the bridge or after leaving a stop or red light between 3 or 4 th gears it shudders and when the bridge comes around it goes to a lower gear and starts losing power. When it happens between 3 or 4th gears it is with me accelerating. They told me that the truck has a memory if you drive it hard or softly it remembers this and shifts differently.
While traveling for an extended time in rain, attempted to accelerate to pass and the vehicle misfired, shuttered and shook to the point of nearly losing control, would not accelerate and almost stopped, causing a near rear end collision. Vehicle recovered and seemed to run fine for a while. About an hour later while attempting to accelerate onto the interstate from a rest area, the same thing happened. Had to pull off of the road to prevent getting rear ended again. At this point the check engine light came on. Manual said to get to a service area to have the engine checked as soon as possible. Dealer service department stated latest cac and deflector are installed, so they reprogrammed the PCM with the latest updates. Literature given to me at the service department states there is no cure for this problem at the present time.

When driving during rush hour traffic in atlanta, Georgia, I moved to the passing lane to pass a slower vehicle. When I pressed the accelerator on my 2012 Ford F-150 (with ecotech motor), my truck did not accelerate and it felt as if my truck had lost all power. This lost acceleration required the vehicle behind me to take evasive action and almost resulted in an accident involving numerous vehicles.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F150. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph and onto an entrance ramp, there was a rapid reduction in engine power without warning. The failure recurred seven times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times. A part was installed onto the eco booster. The technician also advised that only non lethal gasoline should be used in the fuel tank. The failure persisted after the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the problem and they offered an extended service warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
After purchasing this 2012 F150 w/ecoboost V-6, I wanted to see how good of gas mileage I could get out of it. I also wanted to break the vehicle in before any hard accelerations. When starting from a complete stop, I would gradually make it up to highway speeds. I treated the vehicle gingerly until I wanted to test the capabilities of this ecoboost engine I had heard so much about. It was a cold January evening and there was no unusual weather (no rain or snow). I had been cruising at constant highway speeds for approximately an hour. The road had narrowed from a 4 lane highway to a 2 lane. I was stuck behind a vehicle traveling just above 50 mph. I reached a passing zone and decided to test the performance of the engine/truck. I depressed the accelerator to the floor and the engine spit and sputtered. I decided to ease off immediately for our safety. No lights on the dash illuminated as result of this engine problem. After this incident, I have noticed that at cruising speeds, there seems to be an engine miss around 60 mph while going up a slight grade. I have also noticed that when starting the vehicle, it (engine) does not start as quickly. The key has to be held longer. These problems are a direct result of the damage caused to the engine after the very first hard acceleration.
Loss of power/engine misfires during hard acceleration on mid afternoon Friday, June 7, 2013 passing a car at country rd speed or less (was almost at a complete stop while car in front of me turned) in rain. Once I reached destination truck sat until mid day Sunday, June 9 when condition recurred on hill climb acceleration in dry conditions. Engine misfire indicator light came on at that time. After pulling over and shutting truck off to check owners manual, the service engine light came on when I started truck back up and has remained on but the issue hasn't recurred. Appt at Ford dealer for service on Friday, June 14 to check the engine light status and this issue. Engine is 3.5L V6 ecoboost.
In damp conditions the F-150 with the eco boost engine has a severe vibration and loss of power problem when the turbo chargers are called for. In otherwords when you strongly accelerate to get on the highway the truck dies.
Was passing a large truck towing a mobile home up a steep incline, it was rainy and windy and I was traveling at 60 mph. Mid way through the pass, my truck suddenly dropped power about 15 miles down to 45 mph, I almost thought the engine stalled, and then, as I tried to floor the gas pedal, it started to shudder and I just managed to make the pass as I came over the hill. The shuddering continued for about a minute, and after traveling downhill and coasting a bit, the problem went away and there were no more incidents for the rest of the 15 miles I drove. This is the first time this has happened, but I will report that at one point the check engine light came on for about 8 days 3 months prior, and went away on its own before I have had a chance to bring it to a garage, I had thought maybe I had just had a bad batch of gas.
While accelerating the engine shuddered and then shook hard, power was lost. It took approximately 10 seconds before it powered up again. This happened in March 2013 and again on June 7. also I have noticed it shudder when coming to a stop.
I was merging on the on ramp to obtain highway speed I stepped on the gas when all of the sudden the truck started to shake really bad. I tried to step on the gas to accelerate but there was no throttle response to the engine as the truck continued to lose speed. Every time I tried to step on the gas the truck would shake even worse. I pulled over to the side of the road so I would not cause an accident. This is not the first time I have experience this shudder in the truck.
Driving in the rain. Tried to merge on highway. Truck started missing and bucking. I had the truck floored and it was loosing speed. I had to pull over. Check engine light came on. Almost got into an accident due to loss of power.
I was driving home from a golf tournament in the rain. I pulled over on the side of the road to put drops in my eyes. When I started back I pulled out and when I got up to about 20 mph the vehicle stopped accelerating and started shaking very badly. I let off the gas and pushed back down again same thing happened. It felt like the engine was locking up, after about 20-30 seconds (now with cars on my bumper) it smoothed out. No other issues on the rest of the trip. Total trip was about an hour.
Turned right and started to accelerate, when I got up to about 45-50 mph and the ecoboost went to kick in, truck dramatically jerked forward and then the whole truck started to shutter and shake until the vehicle slowed to a point where the ecoboost transitioned off. Has happened several times but this time my wife experienced it too and we feel it may be a safety issue should it happen while driving in traffic or on a freeway. We should be able to drive the truck at 50+ mph without having to slow down to fix the problem.
I am reporting a second incident of engine failure while passing that happened on the same day. While passing a vehicle my vehicle suddenly decelerated and the vehicle began to shake/shudder. I was able to pull back into the right lane and over to the shoulder. It took approximately 1 minute for the vehicle to recover, the check engine light came on. Very dangerous situation.
I purchased a new F150 ecoboost on 6/13/2012. At 4516 mls I was attempting to merge onto a highway while towing a large trailer in heavy rain. The truck accelerated to approx 50mph then lost pwr suddenly and slowed to 30mph while traffic was approaching from the rear at highway speeds. The engine light started to flash and then stayed on. I was able to safely pull to the side while the truck slowly started to pick up speed again. Later the same day while trying to merge into more highway traffic it did the same thing. The dealer replaced several parts and I have not had that problem again. However, I have not towed in the same conditions since then. Also, the engine light has turned on three different time due to what the dealer says is a bad turbo intake sensor which they replaced each time. The truck has 18500mls on it and the dealer has been unable to explain why this sensor has failed approx every 4000 mls. All service records are available.
At a speed of approximately 65 mph while on a 2 lane highway, I accelerated to pass a semi truck. As I was along side the truck, my vehicle decelerated and begin to shudder(felt as if front tires went flat). I was able to pull back behind the truck and off the road. The vehicle recovered and I continued my trip. It was raining at the time of the incident. This was a very dangerous event, fortunately I was able to pull back in behind the truck to avoid oncoming traffic.

The contact was crashed into from the rear. A police report was filed but no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 12,000.
