2nd time, different window - called Ford to register a complaint and they acted like they never heard of the issue, so everyone please complant to Ford and the NHTSA or nothing will change and we will continue to have to pay $300 each time they fail. It only takes a few minutes: Ford Complaint number is 800 392-3673 and the NHTSA is 888 327-4236. Dont you want your money back and the problem fixed for good! I know I do.

Other wise - Great truck!

All packed up, ready to go to the desert for the weekend. Just need to park and roll up the....... crack, bang, boom...... sh*t. Yeah, this has happen to my brother-in-law's 04 fx4 on the way to Ocotillo Wells and has now happened to mine 05 fx4. All I have to say is, RIDICULOUS! Poor engineering, no warranty. This should be recalled, period.

So this is window #2 into the f** door. I guess I only have 2 more windows to go and then the circus can start again. How can this be an issue?!?, to make a window regulator that doesn't break every 6 months. $350.00 dollars gone Ford loses another customer

I was driving down the highway and my back driver side window just started creeping down. I tried to roll it back up with the button but it wouldn't work. I was 30 miles from home and a little summer shower came up and drenched the back seat and floorboard. Not to mention that irritating "choppy" noise it makes when you only have 1 window down.

I've been driving Fords for over 20 years and this is definitely the cheapest made truck I've ever owned. They USED to be built Ford tough but the toughest thing about this truck is making the payments after I pay the repair bills. It's like they designed the parts to last exactly 3 years! What a scam!!!

Was at a stoplight then all of a sudden heard a pop! I thought someone shot a bebe gun at either my window or my door. Less than 10 minutes later once I arrived at my destination, I attempted to roll my window up (the rest of the way), and CRASH! The window fell into the door where I heard it shatter. Here I was arriving at the gym to exercise my mind, body and spirit, and I ended making a u- turn to go right back home. I guess I'll be exercising my wallet when I call the dealership in the morning.

Update from May 25, 2009: I Was quoted $155 by the dealership.

I was looking online to find out how to take apart my driver-side door, because my window just fell into it after I had shut the door. I was thinking that it must have fallen off the track and would be a simple fix to take apart the trim and slip the window back into the brackets, or whatever else may "hold" it in place. I came across this web-site and now realize that what happened is not out of the ordinary.

I will let you know what I decide on how to go about fixing this issue. I bought the truck used and have never had it under warranty.

Well, nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem. My complaint is exactly the same as everyone else - I heard a pop and the damn driver's side window fell down into the door. I'm surprised it wasn't cracked when I removed the panel to inspect it. That slight grinding noise some people are hearing when they engage the power window motor is the cable trying to spool correctly. DO NOT ENGAGE until the unit is fixed. That cable can and will spool incorrectly, causing it to bind up.

Does anyone know if Ford has put out a Technical Service Bulletin on this crappy power window unit? It's very convenient that it occurs outside of your basic warranty. No wonder Japan is kicking our asses!

In the past 25 months all 4 of the electric window regulators on my 2005 F150 Super Crew have broken and the truck only has 57K miles on it. There is a loud pop and the window just falls into the door. The problem was the same for all; the plastic parts that retain the end of the drive cable let loose and then the cable unwraps from the motor pulley. Since Ford does not sell any service parts for these regulators, the entire assembly must be replaced at a cost of about $200 each. So far it has cost me a total of $815.56 and I am extremely upset over this situation.

As a comparison, I drove my 1985 and my 1994 F150's for 152K and 204K miles respectively and never had a single electric window problem with either. I have seen a lot of complaints about this problem on auto web sites and my Ford dealer service and parts staff admit there is a high failure rate on these regulators. Ford should issue a recall on these regulators and reimburse the costs paid by those of us who have had to replace them already. If not there should be a class action law suit filed!

For many of you I'm sure you got gouged by the dealer to the tune of 199.99 for the part and 60 bucks an hour for the labor. Well for all those that heard a loud snap followed by the window falling into the door. It is nothing more than a simpe clip that supports the window. if you take the door skin off and pull all the crap out of there you'll find that an "undersized" wire harness pulled through and thus causing the breakdown of your electric window. Mine just happened last weekend and i haven't yet gone to any of the local junkyards to scavenge the part out, but i'm sure it's gonna run about 15-20 bucks. Until then a 17" piece of wood and some zip ties are holding me off until i get the part. I would encourage you to report your problem , and do it yourself for 20 bucks and a couple hours of work.

Wife drove truck to work. She never uses windows. Upon leaving work she noticed the front passenger side window was down. She called me and once she arrived at home I found the window all the way down and the window motor runs with a slight grinding sound at times.

After reading all the other complaints this is obvious much more than an anomaly or infrequent problem.

I'd hate to be stranded in the middle of nowhere on a bitter cold winter night KNOWING my windows might fall without any assistance at any time.

FORD needs to step up and fix this problem. RECALL TIME.

I was just pulling into my driveway when I heard a loud pop and then a thud. The Drivers door window fell into the door. I was going to try to repair it myself but I didn't want to screw up the door panels and trim. First time this has happened but after reading the other complaints, I am worried now that this is gonna happen again. This sucks!
