First of all I'm not a mechanic. While driving home from the store my passenger side window fell into the door. After finding how to remove the door panel on the web I proceeded without much difficulty to find one of the cables broken also. And of course it's Thanksgiving day. After reading all of the similar complaints it's hard for me to believe no one has filed a law suit. From what I'm reading here, it's going to be around $500.00 to fix this problem. Great, Christmas knocking on the door. I'll take it into my mechanic tomorrow and update my situation later this week.

After reading all of the complaints I'm very PISSED, and as a long time ford customer I'm truly thinking GMC.

I was on my way to the airport long term parking for a business trip when I thought a rock hit my driver's side front door. A few seconds later my window just drops into the frame and won't go back up. I think "what the ...." broken window and I have less than an hour to catch my flight. I pull into the dark lot at 5 am frantic thinking I'm now going to miss my flight and if I can't get this fixed I'm not going to have a truck when I get back home.

No tools in the truck, I was able to pull the window up with my fingers which are now cut and bleeding. I jammed some golf tee's betwwen the window and the frame hoping this holds until I get back 8 days later.

I'm now home and the first thing I do is call the dealer who tells me this is not a common problem but can explain the exact fix and that it would cost me $365.00.

What a crock of S*#T - Thanks Ford!!!!!

My 2005 F150 had the drivers side window fall into the door when I rolled it down in the drive in window of McDonalds. The truck only has 34,000 miles on it. I havent gone to the dealer yet (happened today) but I'm sure they are gonna tell me too bad for you. I googled "2005 F150 window off track" and found several websites with 50 to 100 people complaining about this same thing. I also found a list of the top 20 car problems and this is on there at 14 and 15...just worded differently. I have owned 23 Fords, but if this is gonna be a reoccuring issue, I might be going to a Tundra soon. A $40,000 truck should not be falling apart in 34,000 miles.

Heard loud pop, like rock hitting door while driving. Thought nothing of it. Got home about 15 minutes later and was sitting on the couch, heard another loud noise near the truck. Went outside a few minutes later and discovered the window was down. Thought, hmmm don't remember rolling down the window. Tried to roll it up...ain't gonna happen. The window had fallen inside the door. It's the cable that broke. It came off both ends. Glad this didn't happen while I was at work and someone came and ripped all my sh*t out of my truck. Can't get the window back up. So now I have to drive a 4 year old truck with a garbage bag over the window until the Ford place opens after the holiday weekend. Nice.

I parked my Truck at a restaurant close the door and turn back to click the alarm (habit), I could see clearly into the driver side of the truck. I was peeved, I went to the truck put the keys in and thought maybe I had accidentally pressed the button to lower the window and just plainly did not realize it. The window would not come up the motor just ran on it. Pissed!! I can usually figure these things out mcguyver something to fix it. This is out of my league. Really pissed because we are still making payments on this lovely piece... I really love this truck and it is upsetting to know that this happens a lot and Ford has done nothing to improve it.

Update from Sep 1, 2009: We have since fixed it, being Texas and all you can't depend on the weather, it will rain when the sun shines. We did manage to find a Mechanic in Round Rock that fixed it for 295.00 flat even. Thank Goodness we found them. They were honest and prompt and said this is a frequent item that goes out on the F150 and Jeep brand vehicles. Good to know. Well it is fixed and I did email the Ford Corporation in hopes it helps improve something. God Willing. Peace out for now.

I have a 2005 F150. I heard a pop in the passenger side window and my window slide down. I had to wedge it back up into place. The plastic clip that holds the cable in to the support arm disintegrated. Within 30 days my drivers side window did the same. Three weeks after that the rear passenger window did the same thing. It will cost me over $1,000 to replace all four regulators with no guarantee that it won't happen again in 3-5 years. I have seen the exact same stories from others on line. It seems that this occurs more frequently in warmer climates, Florida, Arizona and California are common.

This is obviously a quality issue that can create a safety issue if the window should fail at an in-opportune time.

The driver side front power window on my 2005 Ford F150 XLT 4X4 truck suddenly slipped all of the way to the bottom of the door while I was parked by the side of the road. All attempts to raise it using the power buttons failed even though I could hear the motor and there was a grinding noise. Several hours later a friend and I were finally able to dismantle the door and prop the window closed. I feel this constituted a safety hazard in addition to the sheer annoyance of it all due to the possibility of an occurrence in unsafe, high crime areas and due to the possibility of an occurrence during adverse, possibly life threatening weather conditions. At this point I'm unemployed and unable to afford the cost of repair so I'm dealing with a window that's permanently propped up in the 90-100 degree heat. Hopefully, I'll either find work soon, Ford will issue a recall on this issue and fix it for me, or some kind soul will offer to step up and pay Ford's rate for fixing it. In this economy, I'm not holding my breath...

Gotta admit I have had other problems with 05 F150 Lariat, but most disappointing is the window problem.....granted it is 54 months old with 190,000 miles on it.....but I'm on the road all the time and I don't put the windows up and down very often. The worst part is before I even have a chance to fix the one on the front drivers side door, the front passenger side door broke as well. Right now I have one window being held up with a chunk of 5/16 rubber hose crammed in the track and the other with duct tape. (Duct tape works for a little while till it gets hot and turns loose....but you gotta do what you have to 400 miles from home) I took the door apart on the drivers side to diagnose and it takes a little while, but the part that is breaking is the hard plastic slot on the window track that holds the barrel....similar to a bicycle brake cable end. Poorly designed and manufactured if it is only going to last 4 years. I have seen a recall on a brake booster vacuum hose....of course that is a cheap thing to fix and it directly involves safety....but they are going to have a bunch of these window things going out. By the way, the regulator is about 80 bucks if you can put it in yourself. The Chilton book shows disassembly and reassembly

Well seems this must be a time thing. Mine did the same thing and the repair shop said he has already done 3 in the past week. O yea have you had your front break shoes done yet. Ford but the bearings with the rotor drum...which instead of 150 to replace had to pay over 600 but I paid for the mod kit which was $35 more but won't have that price in the future. Tired of american made auto's and they wonder why we start buying foriegn auto's, at least they Q&A there cars.

Update from Jul 29, 2009: Well it was the Windos Regulator. So part and laber was a nice 735 here in virginia. The engineer and builders really need to start QA there products.

had a bad day already and temp is about 105.00 went to go to lunch pushed the button to roll down the window and a load pop noise and the window fell to the bottom of the door it would not roll up keep making a griding noise we could only go to lunch where we could watch my car thought would be easy to fix. have fixed many different cars electric door incl Chrysler cheap plastic parts. but this was a mess the thing was moving but the wires where all messed up. got on the web site think its the clips because the motor is moving calling ford to see how much they are. now i wonder why i sold my Honda ridgeline. this cheap nickel and dime stuff is the reason people don't buy American cars

my ford truck was hot, so i went to hit roll the window down with the switch in the parking lot and whamm the window dropped! I knew right off the bat it was the clips because It happen before to another car. So im way out of warranty and i call the dealer. They dont have the window clips they say. So I ask about service to get it fixed cause there a major storm lurking in the distance. "Next week" I was appalled for something that happens often to these trucks, and they dont have Sh... on stock.. or maybe alot of windows broke..lol So he did say leave the vehicle and perhaps it can get fixed today or tmw.. or next week.. Great.....but I'll bring it back monday when you haev the parts.

-------> Come to find out the clips holding the cable let loose.. wore out and just pulled right on through. So i told him i need a regulator...he smiled cause its money for him.. But thank god i opened it up and found it to be just the clips. So now im going back tmw and asking for clips! if not im heading to napa see if they have anything aftermarket for my truck. Maybe something designed better. I cant believe all these dam Car companies building sh...t. and then asking a good penny for a truck that stays in the shop more than on the road... fudge sickles..

Build somthing right and keep customers...dam im sick of this little crap breaking and causing a delay in my routine lifstyle. ha... there ceo's stealing all the money driving a nice benz.. Not a FORD..lol...
