Regulator number two. Ford denies that the part is not suitable for its intended purpose, but did offer to schedule an appointment with the dealer so I could pay them to fix it...

The attached photo shows that such a tiny plastic piece will not withstand the forces occurring in a window regulator. The question is, how did this design ever get past qualification testing? Ford's design engineers should be embarrassed to have made such a poor part.

After making power windows for probably 50 years, why can't they do it right yet? Own up, Ford, and fix my truck with better parts.

another window regulator complaint, as if it was not hard enough to get into the door panel sounds like i better get good at repairing and perpare myself to spend more money on this truck, ford needs to check into this and who is making their product and make good or make the product supplier make good on my and all these other complaints, i've made 5, 5 whole payments on my ford and just from this incident makes me happy to be an owner of a Chevy. how many more times am i gonna have to go through this because this first time has already pissed me off. and after reading all the complaints of this happening time after time makes me want to go ahead and become the owner of 2 chevys...oh yea to top it off i also bought this nice looking ford four-wheel that the four wheel drive didn't even work in....

I have just had the THIRD window regulator replaced on my F150 SuperCrew (all different windows). The dealership indicates this is not a unique problem (as is documented well on this website). At the dealership's urging, I contacted Ford who told me the NHTSA was the one responsible for recalls. I've filed all three reports now with the NHTSA and recommend any and all others do the same.

2005 Ford F150 SuperCrew 4 door truck-Failed Power Window Regulator (Passenger side door/THIRD regulator failure on this truck, different window). Driving down the road when I and my wife hear a loud bang. She is afraid as the noise was loud and for the moment we could not be sure that something had not been thrown or shot at my truck. As I tried to understand the problem, I remembered the other regulator failures and then noticed the passenger side window next to my wife falling into the door. This was the THIRD event for this vehicle. Failure of window regulators and the window falling into the door presents an EXTREME POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD for occupants (children and animals) in the car, as well as loads being lost out the window. The torrential rains in northeast Florida in the summer make these failures even more problematic. Once again, the dealership service department rep indicated the regulator is a new part in the F150 and the problem continues to be seen on this vehicle. He encouraged us to report it to the company to alert them to the potential need for a recall. We did and Ford indicated recalls were NHTSA�s concern. The dealership replaced the regulator and indicated I should pass my complaint on to Ford.

The windows are seldom operated as air-conditioning is typically running in the heat of Florida. This was the SECOND event for this vehicle. Once again, the dealership service department rep indicated the regulator is a new part in the F150 and the problem is not unique to my truck. The dealership replaced the regulator and indicated I should pass my complaint on to Ford.

I tried to hold the window up while also trying to control the car. My dog, a 90 lb black Labrador retriever was in the back seat area and when the window dropped open, he jumped to push his head out the now open window only adding more to the safety and control challenges. THEY SAY that if enough people, over a short enough period of time, complain about the same problem, the motor company has to recall it. if we all complain about this in a singe week, they may respond with a fix, and / or refund. Here is what I said to ford: they only allow 1000 characters...

I've been buying Fords4 years,& bragging that fords don't have the “little problems” GM has. I switched from GM years ago, & Love my fords.Last night, my daughters Bday(4th of July)&Engagement(her fiancée’s birthday present to her, we piled into my 05 F150 to complete a perfect day W/ fireworks:Missed them4 1st time in 25years!.Went to close my Window, and POP!window dropped into the door, &sounds like the glass broke! What the heck are you guys doing? This is a factory defect! I appreciate your financial probs but, Can you afford not to fix badly designed windows?Am I to believe that my ford truck, I sell to all my friends& fam, is about to self destruct, & ford will charge me $1340?, to replace with same design flaw? Nice job in the past, but I wont buy future Fords if you wont fix this all 4 times, and do it right. Please Recall this problem.

Number five on the window regulators. I had my truck at the muffler shop getting a hanger welded when the guy rolled my window down and it wouldn't go back up. He asked if there was a trick to it and I told him nope I already know what it is. I went straight to the dealership and told them of my newest regulator failure. I tried to get the same deal as the last time but they weren't having it. They said the best they could do is give me a 50% rebate on the total bill. Better than nothing I guess. I sent another complaint to Ford Motor Company and I am adding five complaints on this website about this problem. I will see what happens next and how long before my next failure. Built Ford Tough huh? Not the window regulator assemblies!

Well now I am on window regulator number four. Sent more complaints to Ford and got nothing. Sent same complaints to dealership and they helped me out this time. They used a special Ford Plan that gives you a discount for repeat problems I guess. They installed a new regulator assembly for 35 bucks. The service technician said they replace regulator assemblies all day especially here in Phoenix, AZ because it is hot and the parts cannot handle the heat and just break. He said he hopes he don't see me again but I know this is not the end of my journey with this problem. Worst thing is that if this is such a repeat problem why doesn't Ford do something? You can't even get the parts in the after market yet from what I understand. Whoever is building these parts is getting rich though. And Ford is getting their money worth. They charge hundreds of dollars to replace one but three different technicians I spoke to said it takes them about 15 minutes to replace one. Problem solved? I know this isn't my last complaint on this issue by far.

Well darn it if isn't lucky number three on the damn window regulator assemblies on the Ford F150. By now I have had it and sent complaints to Ford and got nothing but a sorry for the inconvenience from them. Thanks Ford! I told the dealership just give me the part and I will install it myself. I was a pro at it this time just from taking it on and off trying to fix it instead of replacing it. You cannot do this because it is an assembly. The parts they use to build the window regulator assembly are junk to say the least. The dealership guys also told me they replace at least ten a day and it takes them 15 minutes to replace one. Why the 1.5 hr labor charge then? Thats why I installed it myself. Took me about 30 to 45 minutes. By now I am carrying the tools with me at all times to take the door panel off and hold the window up in the event of another failure. I will not be caught away from home and have this happen. Problem solved?

Well now this is number two on the darn window regulator assemblies. This time I knew what it was and I was just on my way out of town to do some camping with my family. Good thing it happened before I left and not on the freeway because the window falls into the door and you cannot get it up without taking the door panel off. It was now out of warranty and I had no time to negotiate so I paid the dealership and let them do their work. I at least complained enough to get it done in and hour instead of overnight like they wanted. Problem solved?

First time it happened it was cold outside about 7:00 a.m. and I was driving on the freeway with my 2 small children 6 and 9 years old and my nephew who was 4. I heard a loud crashing noise and thought a rock or some other object flew through my window. It had fallen into the door and would not roll up. My kids were freezing but there was nothing I could do but get home as soon as possible. 20 minutes later I got home and called the dealership. They told me to bring it in and immediately told me it was most likely the regulator assembly. They fixed the problem and I went about my business. Problem solved?
