A friend who is in the tire business called me out to look at my tires on that morning. He showed me how the tire wall was shredding and that was not normal and urged me to bring my truck to the shop immediately, so I did. At that time, I did not realize that it could be a manufacturer's defect, even though my friend insisted that tires should not tear like that. Having viewed the recent news releases about this happening, I decided to log my complaint. The salesperson at Firestone told me that the repair could not be made, so I would have to purchase a new tire, which I did. Since then, I have incurred another flat tire. This time it was a nail, however when the tire was completely deflated, there were some threads that were partially shredded, however I was advised by Firestone that the shredding was not the cause of the tire flat and was assured that it was normal to have some separation. Now I am concerned for my safety, but can not afford to purchase a new set of tires.( dot number: Tire size: P23570R16 )
