Speed control switch on brake master cylinder caught on fire. Damage limited to switch which was unplugged after failure. Subsequently, brake fluid has leaked out of master cylinder at switch plug resulting in corrosion of brake parts including brake master cylinder and brake booster. Brakes are now malfunctioning resulting spongy pedal and left front caliper grabbing abruptly and locking up causing loss of control of vehicle while braking when driving on any roads in any condition. The leaking fluid has caused corrosion and failure of various parts including mounts for electrical connectors and possibly electrical connectors and wiring.

My vehicle had been parked since 7.30 am in my parents driveway until 4.15 when it just caught on fire and completely burnt. Destroying a major portion of my parents driveway pavement. It appears to have started at the firewall of the truck as I said it was parked and the ignition was off. I have my truck keys with me so I can show proof positive the vehicle ignition was off. I have done some research and found that there was a recall on my vehicle in Jan. 2005 I did not then nor have I ever received a recall notice from Ford or anyone. My concern is who is going to repair the damage to my parents drive way and since it is a recall issue do I not deserve to have my vehicle replaced with vehicle of my choice?

Was approaching a stop light, when all of a sudden my radio went out, my gauges started to go crazy, then my truck had shut off and turned back on. After that I noticed smoke coming from under the hood went to press my brakes, I had no brakes. So I turned into a parking lot, where now my gauges had pegged all to one side, more smoke was coming from under the hood, and now I still didn't have no brakes or power steering. So I slammed the truck into park, then shut it off. I popped the hood and noticed a small fire under the master cylinder and the brake lines going to the master cylinder where fire engine red. Tried putting out the fire but had a defective fire extinguisher. The fire spread and has severely damaged the truck, it is at the point of no return.

I have driven my Ford F-150 home from work on a Friday in Oct. 04 I was awakened on Sunday about 8:00 a.M by the mailman dropping off mail for the next day he said your truck is on fire. There was no key in the ignition and the vehicle was not running. I have a fire marshall report stating that it was an electrical fire. I have contacted Ford twice and have gotten nothing but the run around.

I observed smoke coming from the underhood area of my parked 1995 Ford F150 pick up. Upon opening the hood I observed the brake master cylinder reservoir and cruise control pressure switch to be on fire. The fire was so intense it melted the paint off the hood and I had to use a fire extinguisher to put it out.

On Saturday August 26, 2005 this 1995 Ford F150 was driven approximately 10 miles and parked in a parking lot. On the way to the business I attempted to use the cruise control which failed to work. I was in the business for 1 1/2 hours and returned to the truck. When I got into the truck I noticed white smoke coming from under the hood. I did not attempt to start the truck and immediately got out. I then tried to open the hood which failed to release. I looked through the space between the hood and fender and noticed flames. I immediately had someone call 911. The troy fire department showed up in approximately 4 minutes and after prying the hood open extinguished the fire. The fire department stated that the fire was electrical in nature and recommended disconnecting the battery to prevent further fire which was done. Prior to this incident the truck was running without any problems except for the failure of the cruise control. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for investigation and inspection if necessary.

At 6:30 on Sunday morning a neighbor awoke us about our truck being on fire. She had already called the fire dept but I made an unsuccessful attempt with our water hose. The truck, which was in pristine condition, was a total loss. The fire started in the engine compartment on the drivers side, melted the dash and was starting to burn into the interior. The neighbor stated she heard one or two 'pops' prior to discovering the fire. Drivers side tire burned. A few months prior to the fire the cruise control quit working. We did not have comprehensive insurance on it so it was a total write-off for us. I cannot help but believe this is the same problem Ford finally admitted to for the recent recall on later model trucks. The truck had not been driven for approximately 14 hours. I still have possession of the truck. Will E-mail pictures to bruce york. The cruise control failed in August of 2004. No aftermarket equipment. The fire did not spread to a structure.
