As I was on my way to work on June 28, as I was driving straight on a major street, approximately 50 mph, when my 2016 Ford Explorer began to decelerate. Even as I pressed the accelerator, the truck would not speed up. As I came to a stop at a busy intersection, the truck began to jerk when I began to accelerate when the light turned green. The truck would not go above 30 mph at this point. I decided to turn around and go back home, which was about 5 miles away and the truck kept decelerating the more I hit the accelerator. I managed to make it home and get my Explorer towed to the dealership where I purchased my vehicle. The diagnosis was a bad transmission, in a 5 month old truck, with less than 3500 miles on it. My Explorer has been in the shop for two weeks, and I could possibly be looking at another two weeks before it is repaired because the part is on back order.

Started smelling sulfur/rotten eggs exhaust through the vents around 3K miles under hard acceleration. It's a police version with the 3.7L. Smelled it in re-circulation mode and the fresh air mode. Now have 5900 miles on it and one day while I was driving under normal conditions 50-60 mph, the check engine light, airbag light, and wrench light came on. The dash also said "see owners manual". car also makes a sputtering noise....updated 01/23/17

My 2016 Ford Explorer will lose power under various driving conditions. While on the highway at 45-55 mph the car engine dropped to idle (~800 RPM) and would not respond to the accelerator. This occurred in traffic and created many close calls. It has occurred three times to me, and researching it on the internet has happened to many other people with the same make/model/year. Please investigate. This is a significant safety issue.

I was driving close to my house and almost caused a big accident while I had my children on board. The car stopped completely ( suddenly stopped) and lost power, I was lucky that not accident occurred ( can U imagine if I was in the miami expressway and that happened). I'm attaching a pic showing the check engine, wrench light that came on while I was driving. I did some research online and found out that many americans are having the same issues, it is a defective throttle body that causes the vehicle to slow down and shutdown at any time. Ford is already aware of the problem and you guys more likely are aware too. What are you guys waiting to issue a recall"? waiting for someone to die"

On my 2016 Explorer limited 3.5 N/a V6 - under hard (getting on fwy) or extended acceleration (uphill climb) exhaust fumes can be noticed by the passengers in the vehicle. I know there is an open investigation on the 11-15 years but the 16 should be included as well. This has been the case from new to current 11K miles. This happened on my previous 2013 model as well.

I was driving 45mph on a busy street when suddenly the car just stalled. I had kids in the back seat and frantically pressed the gas pedal which pressed down but nothing happened. The wrench and check engine light illuminated. Luckily, I was able to put my hazards on and pull over. We are so fortunate we didn't reach the highway yet on this busy holiday weekend. I am sure it would have ended differently. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be addressed. What good is a new car if you can't trust it? hoping the throttle body is a reconfigured part when they fix it. Needs a recall!!

2016 Ford Explorer XLT throttle body failed at just over 8,000 miles without warning. My wife was driving on the highway with our 6 year old daughter and pet dog in 95 degree weather when the vehicle shut down to an idle almost causing an accident and very little shoulder room to pull over on. Later I find out, with a simple google search, this has been an ongoing issue with Ford throttle bodies for several years. I am very disappointed and it is completely unacceptable for this to be allowed to happen, especially in a brand new vehicle. It is extremely unsafe and unreliable and will most likely cause death or injury. Now the vehicle part is on back order because of the number of similar incidences, with no estimated time for repair. Now, even after the vehicle gets repaired, I cannot trust or rely on this vehicle to keep my family safe on the highway and will be trading it for a vehicle with a proven safety record. Please get this vehicle off the road before someone else's family gets killed for no reason. I will be seeking legal counsel on this matter because it is a known issue and a ignored issue just to make sales, and I will not sit by and let it continue to go unnoticed and Ford should value the lives and safety of their customers and get it fixed for good now. Not tomorrow, not next week, now!

While driving on city street going 35 mph, vehicle suddenly slowed to 5mph even though I had foot on pedal. It was barely rolling. Wrench warning light came on (which I found later means problem with drive train, take to dealer immediately. )engine service light also came on. I was fortunate enough to be able to roll to side of road and turn down street and go into a parking lot. Turned engine off and restarted it. Wrench light gone but engine light still on. Drove around parking lot and it ran normally.I since have researched this online and seems to be a lot of complaints about this. Some owners have had this happen to them on freeway doing 60 mph. Took vehicle to frontier Ford where we purchased the vehicle, they really didn't want to listen. It is currently waiting to be looked at in service dept. But my huge point is this vehicle needs to be recalled. Ford doesn't want to seem to acknowledge it. Does someone have to die in order for it to be recalled. We were not even offered a loaner vehicle. "we don't do loaners if you didn't buy the extended warranty (which is another scam) obviously they do not stand by their product. This is a safety issue and people will die. If this happens on freeway where I live in san jose California, they will definitely be in serious accidents the way people drive here.will never buy a Ford again. Especially because their customer service is non existent. There are only 7305 miles on vehicle.

Was driving along busy road making a left turn at rush hour across two lanes of traffic. Car simply died. No response to accelerator. Wrench light on. I could have been hurt badly. Was able to get car out of traffic. Was told this is a severe problem with throttle body and Ford is aware of this. Car has less than 5100 miles on it. This needs to be a recall situation.

Was driving down a street, going about 40mph, the car immediately slowed to 5pmh and would not accelerate even when pushing the gas all the way down. I had to coast it home, drop the family off, and then coast it to the Ford dealership. Upon arriving, the dealership informed me that Ford was aware of the issue and that all parts are currently on back order.

While driving on city street there was a burned rubber smell outside vehicle, followed by strong smell of natural gas inside passenger compartment. While driving there was a rattling or thumping sound. Thinking back, there was a natural gas smell outside the vehicle days before burned rubber smell. I let the dealer hear a recording of the sound. They described it like the sound of driving on a railroad track. After dealer inspection, the dealer found 'crack in pto due to internal failure' they had to 'replace ptu and ptu vent following wsm procedure in section 307-01'

SUV is 4 months old and has 12200 miles. While driving on city road at 40 mph the wrench symbol appeared and the car lost all power immediately and slowed down on its own and was moving at 5 mph. I pushed the gas pedal but nothing happened. I parked the SUV at a gas station and turn off the engine for 5 minutes and turned back on. Everything was normal and the wrench symbol was gone.

At 70 mph on I-4, the electronic throttle body failed, dropping the engine to idle speed. The engine would not come out of idle, and had to be towed to the dealership. The part failed at 6,300 miles, less than 2,000 miles after the car's first dealership servicing. Had I not been in the slow lane at the time, I would have been stranded in the middle of I-4, and possibly killed.

Driving home from work in my 2 month old 2016 Ford Explorer with 1900 miles on it and was merging into freeway traffic when there was a sudden loss of power. Was pushing on the gas pedal and could hear the engine but the speed of my car was stalled at 35 mph and a wrench light and engine light came on. Was able to safely get off the freeway and into a gas station where I called for a tow. When the tow truck arrived I tried moving the car to make it easier to get on the truck but the car would not move in reverse or forward. Ford dealership service department tells me it is the transmission and several parts need to be replaced and a few of them are on backorder. The car has been un drivable and in the service department for 11 days already and they tell me maybe in another 10 days the backordered parts may be available

Vehicle lost acceleration suddenly: First time happened when I stopped at the intersection waiting the traffic to clear and when I want the vehicle to accelerate it did not so I pulled over and turned engine off and restart it five minuets later and the vehicle accelerate and I manage to reach my destination, next day I took the vehicle to Ford dealer because the service powertrain fault illuminates. Ford dealer said that the problem is the throttle body malfunction and need to be replaced but the part is on a back order and is not available for few weeks, the dealer advice me to use the vehicle and if happened again to call him back although I was concern about safety of driving this vehicle. Next day the same problem happened more frequent and it happened while I am driving and luckily I managed to pull over safely, this time the service engine soon illuminates as well and stays illuminated after I restart the engine. I contacted the Ford dealer again and I got the same answer: You have to wait till we get the part to fix your vehicle !!... I told them this vehicle is not safe to drive and Ford should issue a recall to fix this problem and make every effort to have the parts and remedy available asap
