My wife and I are getting dizzy and my wife is getting severe headaches. We both notice a strong natural gas smell in the vehicle while driving today (06-02-18) I smelled it first and didn't say anything to her. About 30 miles later she told me that she smells gas. If this continues we will go to the er at our hospital to get checked for carbon monoxide. We will also contact the dealer on Monday. We just got back from Florida in which we drove a total of 2700 miles. The vacation was from 05-19 thru 05-28-2018. It headaches/dizziness started about 2 days before our trip.

When the car is turned on, you begin to smell a 'rotten' smell, which has been determined as the exhausted. While the car is in motion it continues to smell of exhaust to the point it will cause nausea. Once the vehicle is turned off the smell will subsided.

Cabin is filling with extremely intense smell of carbon monoxide. It is impossible to drive as you can not stay in it for more than a few minutes. It doesn't matter if your just driving around town (5-10 miles per hour) or if you try to go on a highway (40-60 mph). It just gets worse. After a brief time you get lightheaded and nauseated. I had the vehicle to a Ford dealer a few months ago to supposedly fix the problem. Whatever they did certainly didn't work as it has now gotten to this point.

Within the first, original, 2000 miles of driving my new 2015 Ford Explorer my family and I have been subjected to an oder that is similar to melting plastic, burning hair or engine exhaust fumes in row passenger cabin while driving. This is especially noticeable after high RPM acceleration or during highway driving. In relation to this smell is are symptoms of headache, tiredness, and or nausea. I have brought vehicle to multiple Ford dealerships, the last time the dealership had the car for over 4 weeks! we have been told that necessary repairs have been made. But the vehicle and my family are still experiencing the same problems. Vehicle now has just over 23000 miles on it. Since buying vehicle I have had a number emergency room visits that were not conclusive and after reading findings by this Agency and others now believe that there is a connection to my Ford Explorer, and we are suffering from prolonged carbon monoxide poisoning!

I received a letter from Ford company (this was only after I had made a call to Ford) concerning carbon monoxide. I have experienced physical affects from possible carbon monoxide poisoning. I got the letter to bring vehicle in to get fixed with no charge to me. It is now Feb. And the issue has yet to be fixed. Therefore I have been driving the vehicle with my daughter (who has a chronic illness) without using heat or A/C, due to the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Ford still refusing to do a recall, while we as customers are suffering everyday because of the 'almighty dollar', it is not right!!!! please force Ford Motor Company to make this right and to start thinking of their customers safety and well being.

We own a 2015 Ford Explorer. We have made multiple complaints on the NHTSA website. This is not solving anything. If you want to know what is going on with your Ford Explorer, go to fordexplorernightmare.com. Read the 2 key documents and leave your story. It is time that Ford has to buy all of these vehicles back. Obviously they cannot be fixed. Ford has been knowing about this problem since 2011. Now the Ford engineers are going out to inspect these vehicles. This is disgusting what Ford is doing to people that are stuck paying for a vehicle that is like driving a rolling gas chamber!

When idling or driving slow through town a strong surfer/rotten egg smell fills the cabin of vehicle has given my girlfriend and I both extreme headaches and nausea and made her 11 yr old daughter throw up along with a headache shortly after as well. Wasn't as bad when we first got the vehicle but seems to be getting worse

Strong smell of exhaust fumes inside of vehicle upon acceleration. Elevated levels of carbon monoxide (tested with meter) during operation of vehicle. I must open windows inside of vehicle frequently to vent the exhaust fumes, and to try to decrease co levels in the vehicle while driving. This condition has existed since the first day of ownership, August 8, 2016. I still own this vehicle as of today, January 30, 2018.

Odor in cabin happens under various speeds and driving conditions my wife has an allergic reaction to this odor. Her throat starts to close up and it restricts her airway. She has to roll down windows at the first sign of odor to limit these affects. This all started in July 2017 and first reported to the dealer on July 6,2017. Ford has made numerous attempts to repair the vehicle. The most recent trip for repairs resulted in the dealership being advised by Ford's office of general counsel to release vehicle to customer with no repairs. Without being redundant I have attached a letter to ogc subsequent to their releasing the unrepaired vehicle to us. To date we have had no response and/or any direct communication with Ford's ogc.

Since we purchased the vehicle in 2014, we are getting exhaust in the cabin of the vehicle, specifically, on longer trips while the car is in motion. The faster and further we drive, the worse it is. We travel from SC to pa (10-12 hours) at least twice per year, and have noticed a strong odor in the car that smells like the exhaust pipe is feeding the exhaust back into the car. During our day-to-day commutes to work/school/home, we do not notice it. We have three kids..this can't happen! I have brought it to the attention of our Ford dealership when we take it for oil changes and routine maintenance, and at one time this summer (summer 2017) the tech checked the VIN and said, nope, yours isn't part of the recall. We'll look into it, but there's nothing we can do.

I just read a usa today article concerning the Ford Explorer and carbon monoxide poisoning. As I read it, I immediately knew this is what sickened my family during our vacation last summer. This happened over our extended travel from fort riley, ks to las vegas, nv. My older son complained of headaches and vomited several times. We could not determine what was wrong with him at the time.

About a year after purchasing vehicle noticed a strange odor in the cabin, seemed worse on acceleration and when windows closed. Thought had an exhaust leak. I work in a service shop so I inspected for exhaust leaks before taking to dealer and did not notice any. Did notice a seal leaking on the exhaust and had the dealer repair that under warranty. When dropped off the vehicle for the warranty repair I did mention to them the smell. I was told the technician did not notice any smell after the seal was replaced. Intermittantly we are still get the "exhaust" smell in the cabin. Occasionally I will also get nauseated after awhile especially if sitting in the passenger seat.

Since we have had our car 2016 you can always smell a gas like odor type fumes. If the car is driven for a long period of time you get a headache and dizzy. The Ford dealership said that they have no issues with carbon monoxide in the fumes. We would like this looked into further as it is a concern. At first, we thought maybe you can just smell it when the car is first warming up, maybe its the heated seats trying to rule everything out. Unfortunately, I think we are now use to the smell which is also so bad by ignoring a issue.

Moonroof leak followed by monroof being stuck open. After a car wash at our purchasing dealer, we noticed water dripping from the lights above the center console in proximity to the monroof switches. Upon testing the switches, the moonroof opened but would not close again. The powershade operates fine, but the moonroof is stuck open (in the middle of winter in Michigan). The lights operate fine. Luckily for us, we are under the initial factory warranty. This is a 2015 Explorer with 29900 miles. We bought it used on Saturday and this happened Saturday afternoon on the way home from the Ford dealer.

Carbon monoxide coming into vehicle. Ford says it's not dangerous and they are waiting on parts. Bought a carbon monoxide detector and it went off in vehicle. Child nauseaus. Owner nauseaus a few times and extremely sleepy. Tiredness and nausea went away shortly after getting out of vehicle. Didn't know it was related until I took my car in for a recall and they said they needed to order parts for a safety concern.
