Consumer is concerned that the recall 00T005 of the Firestone Wilderness AT tire only covers the Firestone 15 inch tire and not the 16 inch tires. Nlm

All three tires, at 26 psi, dismounted in a side collision, causing the car to almost tip over. Since then I have received a card from Ford sayimg I should keep the tires at 30 psi, cold pressure. I comtacted Ford to ask which was the correct cold tire pressure and got an answer saying that a "range" of 26 to 30 psi is correct. My problem is that I would like the door saftety placard to indicate a correct pressure. 26 pounds - or 30 pounds - or a "range" of 26 to 30 psi. I am communicating with fmc by E-mail. So far, they do not seem to be willing to supply me waith a correct placard. These tires are not part of the recall. Ford has not admitted that the instantaneous dismnounting from the rim of these tires is in any way related to the tire pressure placard on the driver's door. I think that there is a huge diference between a cold 26 psi and a cold 30 psi inflation. I told Ford that I would be writing you.( dot number: ? tire size: P23575R15 )

My husband and I bought a new 2000 Ford limited Explorer, equipped with Firestone Wilderness AT tires. When the problem with Firestone tires surfaced and the facts were revealed that both Ford and Firestone were aware of the tire defects and didn't initiate any action until the accidents started occuring here in the United States and vennezuela. The fact neither company brought the issue to the attention of their customer's as soon as they were aware of the issue, I have lost confiedence in the tire even though the P255/70R16 is not included.( dot number: Tire size: P255/70R16 )

While Firestone and even your investigation does not mention the "W2" Firestone Wilderness AT tires, three of the four tires on our Explorer began to crack radially on the sidewall of the tire at the base of the tread! the Firestone dealer here looked at them and said they could do nothing. The cracks range from approx 1/8" to 3/4"long and are worrysome to say the least. We replaced the tires on our own as we could no longer drive the car with any sense of confidence. This is the fourth Explorer we've had and have been quite satisfied them as a whole. We have retained the tires should anyone wish to inspect them. The cracks are very obvious. Thanks mark sanderson.( dot number: W2 tire size: 235/75R15 )

Very concerned about the safety of the tires even though they are not included in this recall. When I purchase a car of this price ($34,000+) I expect to feel safe and not worry about the safety of my children while riding in this car. I could have paid $10,000 for a used vehicle and felt safer, I feel betrayed by Ford and Firestone.( dot number: Tire size: 16 )

Failure to disclose safety concerns that were known by the manufacturer which would have influenced my decision not to buy it. I therefore want a full refund of my purchase less usage. Is this action appropriate"? or do I need to seek redress elsewhere" no safety defect mentioned in summary.

When the story about the wilderness tires first broke I was in a panic because I travel every day for my job. On 8/09/200 I went to Firestone to get my tires inspected and they said my tires were fine. I was asked if I found anything unusal riding on these tires. I told him it was like a flat spot on my tires. He said that was normal for this type of tire. On 8/25/00 I was traveling across a bridge about 55 to 60 mph I felt my rear end swaying then heard a noise like a helicopter I knew something was wrong. I pulled on the side of the bridge and saw my rear tire was blown with pieces of rubber all around. I called Ford and they sent eddie's tow truck out. A policeman stopped and called to make sure he was on his way. Eddie's took me to the Firestone dealer in town. I was told that if I was not on the recall sheet for these tires that they could adjust my tire. Well I was not about to put the same tire back on knowing what was happening Firestone did not take down my dot# and report this, they did not want to bother with me because I was not on the recall sheet. I had to go somewhere else where I could purchase 5 new tires equivalent to the type that were on my vehicle.I had 11,200 miles on those tires and as I said I travel every day around the state for my job. I was not going to be a statistic before Firestone decides to recall all wilderness tires. I value my life to much. As you can see I am very upset. I hope by sending in this complaint no one will die because of these tires and Firestone will recall all of the wilderness tires( dot number: 8xhl1py110 tire size: P235/75R15 )

After purchasing the vehicle new, we noticed vibration at high speeds. Ford service found nothing wrong with the Explorer. When the recalled was announced we had the local ntb tire company check the tires as the vibration had become very pronounced even before there was 1500 miles of the truck. Ntb recommended replacement of the tires. At our own expense, because the Firestone company refused to look at the tires for 2 months (they were too busy and we had to be put on a waiting list) we had ntb replace the Wilderness AT tires with Michelin tires. The vibration immediately ceased. The truck rides smoothly and we have had no more problems. Firestone refuses to discuss taking the tires back even though we explained the problem we were having.( dot number: 8xhl tire size: P235/75R15 )

While traveling at 60 mph on a highway I experienced a sudden tire failure on a Firestone Wilderness AT tire (P25570R16). There was a loud humming noise coming from the back of my truck just prior to the incident. After the tire failed I immediately pulled onto the shoulder and called Ford's roadside assistance. I was told that Ford would send someone out to fix the flat but they could not do anything with regards to replacing the tire. Pictures are available. Although there are no visible indications that the tire failed due to anything other than a manufacturing defect I am taking the tire to a local Firestone dealer for observation.( dot number: Vncu1px459 tire size: P25570R16 )

We were driving along the road and then the back tire just blew out we did not hit anything and it was blown out the side like it had been shot at. This happened in July 2000 we called our dealer and he said it was not under warrantyso we brang it to a tire shop in lindstrom and had a new one put on.of course we did not save it at the time it was destroyed. Should I be concerned with the other tires now and can we be reimbersed for the one we lost ? according to my recall notice my tires are not covered in the recall but ever since our tire just blew out for no reason I am very concerned. Please notify me if I should have my tires changed or what I should do. Thank you very much kevin eichten( dot number: W2hl tire size: P235/75R15 )
