I am very concerned as to the reported failure of Firestone tires on Ford Explorer. I have not experienced this yet but do not wish to either. My children drive this vehicle and it makes me very nervous. Something must be done. Please inform me of current corrections taken in the very very serious problem.( dot number: )
Without any warning the left rear tire completely shredded at 60mph on smooth flat dry clean asphalt highway. Vehicle very difficult to control.( dot number: Tire size: P255/70R16 )
Consumer has a 99 Ford Explorer. Tire blew out while going 55mph. Tread separated from the rim. Dealer said that the cause must have been a nail. Tire size & dot number the consumer will complete when received. Firestone Wilderness AT P235/75/R15
PE00020 ; airbag module light came on the dashboard intermittently. Throttle was stuck, and vehicle suddenly accelerated/T hood latch bolts were defective, and and the Firestone #ATX P23575 R15 dot vdul tire tread separated. Has contacted Firestone, and they put on a waiting list.

Had parked vehicle & noticed tires went flat. Sidewalls had split. Took tires to Firestone & was informed tires were not guaranteed due to lack of tread separation. Did not have tire size or mileage for tires.
Firestone Wilderness AT, size P255/70R16, original equipment on a 99 Explorer Sport. Left rear tire tread separated while driving. Firestone retailer has replaced the tire at their expenses. The 16" Wilderness AT is defective and should be recalled. The same tires have been recalled in saudi arabia and venezuela.
PE00020; tire tread separation: All four tires are showing excessive wear. Tread is almost gone on all four tires. Tires are Firestone, wildersness, size P23575R15, dot # W2, original tire equipment. Firestone and Ford has been contacted about the tires.
PE 00020: While driving 65mph vehicle became wobbly. Pulled to side of road & noticed tire was flat. Contacted husband, who noticed that tread had separated from tire in the center after it had blownout. Tread was still intact. Had tire exchanged. Do not have the tire. Firestone wilderness, size P255/70R16 with 20,000 miles. The right rear tire blew out. The customer had it replaced but the new tire was also irregular in shape and developed cracks from inside.
While driving on a hot day heard a noise coming from right rear tire, like a pop when another person saw pieces of tire flying out, then consumer lost control. Consumer states that the Firestone tire disintegrated, no other specific tire information given.
Peo00020; consumer was traveling about 65mph on highway and heard a rumble then roar then bang noise. Vehicle had went out of control. However, consumer managed to steer over onto the shoulder. Left rear tire had hole in inside of tire they wont replace my tires because they were made at a different plant. They were Firestone wilderness P23575/R15.
Consumer complained of vehicle vibration, the first time vehicle was taken to Firestone, dealer stated nothing was wrong with tires, consumer took vehicle back and dealer found right rear tire defective on the inside of tire with tread separation, tires are Firestone wilderness P255 16 inches.
Firestone Wilderness AT tires P235/75R15 caused vehicle to vibrate, consumer could feel the vibration in the steering wheel, tires only have 15000 miles on them, consumer noticed waves in frontal tires.
PE02000; tire tread separation: While driving at 45 mph on wet pavement, Explorer skidded on the road and flipped over three times. There were no other passenger's in the Explorer. Driver remained in the hospital for 3 1/2 days. Three of the tires came off the rims and were completely destroyed. The tire were Firestone, wilderness, orginal equipment. Vehicle was totalled by the insurance company. The Explorer is leased to rc aluminum industries.
PE00020, tire tread separation: While driving about 60 mph, tire on the rear passenger's side came apart. Driver was able to control vehicle. Three other passenger's were in the vehicle. No one was hurt. Tire was a Firestone, wilderness, original equipment. The tire was replaced by a Firestone dealership.
While driving about 50 mph could hear noise coming from Firestone wilderness tires. But when speeding up to 65 mph noise will go away. Firestone tires wilderness.
Peo 020; consumer was traveling about 65mph on the highway and heard a loud noise. Left driver's side tire had exploded and vehicle hit a guardrail. Vehicle started to spin and lost control. The back side of the vehicle was demolished.
