When I inspected my tires in response to the Firestone issue, I found that all four tires plus the spare were cracked at the intersection of the sidewall and the tread...all the way around the tire. Firestone replaced these tires with the same make for no cost under the warranty. So far, no problem with the new tires, which were installed on October 13, 2000. This 99 Ford Explorer has had multiple problems, as listed. Contacted manufacturer, they directed me back to the dealer. This is the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned, and it's only 18 months old. (tiresize: P23575R15)( dot number: Tire size: P23575R15 )
My Ford has the Wilderness AT P255/70R16 tires on it. After downloading your database - I am afraid to drive my vehicle. I have two small children and after reading your database, I counted at least 100 incidents on that report involving the P255/70R16 tires. Are they going to be put on the advisory page? I just bought this truck (used) I thought it was my dream truck and I can not even drive it. I can't afford new tires now - even prorated. Is their any avenue for me" the dot # starts with a 'W2' same as the P235/70R16 advisory, does that help me out any? will their be an update"
I have the Wilderness AT P235/75R15 tires on my 1999 Ford Explorer; however, they are not the ones that were made at the decauter, il plant. What are we suppose to do? we have the exact tire that is being recalled, except it was made at a different plant. All tires should be recalled. Please contact me to discuss. Contacted and Ford and Firestone and was told since my tires are not part of the recalled tires, there was nothing they could do. At my last maintenance check, my tires were rotated so that the bad tire (as proven by a computer print-out) is now on the rear passenger side. (dot number: W2hlipy398 tiresize: P235/75R15)
While driving on highway, steering became wobbly & I pulled over. The tire collapsed just as I reached side of highway. Wife and infant were passengers. Called aaa & assisted by passing patrol car. Brought the tire to Firestone dealer in natick, MA who *refused* to replace the tire for free and told me I must have driven over something. I traded in the Ford six months later for a Lexus.( dot number: )
Why has the Wilderness AT 16 in tires made in the same factory as the 15 in. Ones not been recalled" how can one in. Difference in size make them safe" Ford Explorer with the eddie bauer package all come equiped with 16 in. Firestone tires. Please look into the problem! thank you. Had the original vdhl recalled tires replaced and now the new tires are already starting to vibrate/wobble at speeds greater then 40 mph. I am really concerned about these tires as the old set that I had that were recalled were doing the same thing before I had them replaced. The new ones now with about 1500 miles on then are starting to do the same thing. I had the vehical inspected and no problems such as balancing or alignment was needed as well as no other problems with the car. (dot number: W2hl tiresize: 15)
Left front wheel blew out pulling the car to the left and rolling it. The car was totaled. We took pictures of the vehicle that does show the tire but not a close up, but does show the tire. My husband suffered severe back spasms. (dot number: P235 tiresize: 15 inch)
My wife had tire separation about 4-5 months after we purchased the vehicle. Even though this tire is not currently under recall, I have been to Firestone and Ford now and received the runaround. I want to make certain these tires are safe. Also, I think we experienced the same problems others have had. It makes no sense why the tired separated. Firestone in pacific beach, ca will have the record of the replacement.( dot number: Tire size: 16 )
Vehicle was purchased with 15 inch wilderness tires which needed air more frequently than other tires, consumer fells the recall should be widened to encompass all Wilderness AT and ATX tires regardless of where they were manufactured. Nlm
Tire broke in belt while driving on a gravel road. This is the ninth failure of these tires and far exceeds any failure rate I 've ever had in similar drinving conditions. This is two of five tires that have gone flat while driving. The suspension is smooth enough to allow driving on a nearly flat tire and ti think this is why the sma;ller tires are failing as well. These products are unsafe and certainly are not "all terrain" but awfully tender instead.( dot number: W2cuipx458 tire size: P255R/7016 )
Vehicle experienced a blowout of the Wilderness AT tires while driving on freeway causing the vehicles back end to sway, the blowout ruined the rim and the cap that covers the lug nuts came off. Nlm
