We "did not" feel "safe" with these tires on our vehicle. We talked to representative from the hotline and he gaves us the okay to get new tires and send in the forms. Well we went and got the new tires and sent in the paper work, and we got back a letter saying, "we have reviewed the entire file and unfortunately, we must respectfully deny your request for a refund. We are unable to process your refund for one or more reasons: The type of tire you requested replacement/reimburstment for was not part of the voluntary safety recall" we have also writen them a letter stating that they were not satisfing all their customers. Please help me. (dot number: W2hlipy308 tiresize: P2357515)
All 4 tires have cracks all around top edge of tire and in tread. Also cracks all around sidewall of tire where rim mounts. Tire dealer inspected tires and said they are dangerous and tread is ready to separate. Need to take them to Firestone dealer for inspection. Tires wore out to soon. Should have 10-15000 miles left based on tread depth. Took to Firestone dealer and they said too bad. For $500 we will give you 4 new tires. They will only honor tires that are on recall list. He also said cracks need to be lower than they are on sidewall. Please help! all these wilderness tires are dangerous. Please put pressure on this manufacture so they can help people to feel safer on products they purchase. These tires are unsafe! (dot number: E4026555 tiresize: P255/70R16)
I had to have this repaired in the summer 2000 because handling was extremely bad especially at high speed (over 45mph) and going around curves. It felt like the vehicle was going to roll over. The repairs were made at a garage and not at a dealer.
Firestone ATX tire experienced an exposed steel wire on the inner edge of the left front tire, consumer is requesting reimbursement for the replacement tires and for an unnecessary alignment.
The defective Firestone ATX tires failed causing the vehicle to rollover while driving, as a result the seat belts failed to properly restrain the driver causing injury to her back by breaking 8 vertebrae (attorney for client). Nlm
While driving on the atlantic city expressway, the rt rear tire blew out. It was not a tread separation. The tire was a replacement, but was the same as the original equipment. No injuries occurred. The incident is reported now because of recent news of questions regarding Explorer equiped with Goodyear tires. I no longer own this car. (dot number: Unknown tiresize: 225R16)
When recall first started, I took vehicle to Firestone dealer, was told my tires were not on recall list, was also told the seperating lines on my tires were caused from "heat stress & all tires do that!" I don't think so, not one of the four vehicles sitting in our driveway have the lines on them like these do! please check this out, very concerned about driving down the road & having tires blow out on me. Thank you!!! (tiresize: 255/70R/16)( dot number: Tire size: 255/70R/16 )
Original equipment on a 1995, Explorer, P255/70R16 size. All fourfirestone Wilderness AT tires are cracking on the tread and sidewalls. Ford and Firestone have been notified. Dot # vncu1pl145
I had 2 of 4 tires that were separating, I replaced them with the advise of a tire dealer (discount tires Inc) I realize this was before the tire recall, but they were replaced because of a failure. I have submitted an invoice to Firestone for reimbursement, but have not heard from them. I also have a spare tire that falls under the recall and I will take this to the Firestone dealer for replacement. (tiresize: 23575R15)( dot number: Tire size: 23575R15 )
I am concerned that my tires should be defective due to the type and size. At this time they are not specifically identified as defective but they are Firestone wilderness ht tires built in Decatur Illinois. (dot number: Vdhl awr tiresize: P235/75R15)
