The turn signal will intermittently stop working or not signal at all when the signal is activated in either direction (right or left turn). This will occur whether the vehicle is in motion or stationary. This has been occurring for over a year now.

The contact owned a 2000 Ford Excursion. While driving, the contact noticed smoke coming from the front driver's side floorboard. The driver was not aware of any warning indicators illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road where it caught fire and burst into flames. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was not driveable and was towed to the driver's residence. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The driver believed the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 09V399000 (vehicle speed control); however, she never received a notification. The failure mileage was unknown.

Car was stoped and I turned the lights on and the headlights would not turn on. The plug that the lights plug in to was replaced and the lights word. It seems that the center post on both of them had burned out.

How can a company as Ford claim to be an honest american car company...they should be stripped of their title of american and given their own identity of corporate cause they obviously do not care about the safety or their own integrity with the United States the people and we the people are just dollar signs to them. I have two Ford and lets just say I should have learned after my second found on the road dead vehicle to not have been suckered into buying the american made Ford again. I own a 2000 Ford Excursion and have had four spark plugs blown in the last two months...two in the last week. My truck barely hit 143,000....work trucks, dependable family vehicles...not so much. My truck has been taken care of immaculantly since 2000 and many who are not familiar with body details mistake it for the newer versions. This is a common problem that has been in existence since the truck came out...so much a problem Ford came out with a special repair kit for it that will only be warranteed if you go to Ford to fix it...sounds like a racket to me. A racket the government has looked into and approved. I have a family and am trying to get through this recession but seem to be going bankrupt not on gas prices from overseas or inflation but from repairs for an american, excuse me corporate american made vehicle that has taken almost every pint of blood my family has collectively. After a decade of continued complaints Ford and the "safety Agency" does nothing...my truck sits in my drive way because I choose to buy school clothes for my children and groceries vs. Repairing it again. Beyond disgusted on behalf of the american Ford owners...who have walked in my shoes. After so many complaints how can the government and Consumer Affairs allow this corporate company not be held accountable?

While driving the vehicle made a loud bang and smoke began coming out of hood. Once we got the engine turned off and the emergency was over we discovered the spark plug had blown up. When it blew up the head became stripped and we had to have a plug installed into the defective head and replace the coil. I have since found out this is a very common problem with Ford Excursion.

In parking lot of restaurant. We went into the restaurant and in 15 min someone ran in to tell everyone someone's truck was on fire. Well it was our 2000 Ford Excursion diesel. No fore warning engine just caught on fire. Front end destroyed. Massive smoke damage and water damage from fire trucks. The car was totaled.

On my 2000 Ford Excursion, suddenly had electrical issues. Running board lights stayed and truck attempted starting itself with no key in ignition. Mechanic found leaking windshield had dripped onto fuse box and corroded terminals. Destroyed starter, starter solenoid and fuse box. Also nearly started fire, as smoke was seen and smelled from interior of truck. Major repair cost. My mechanic as well as multiple Ford dealers report this is a very common problem with Excursion and Super Duty's, yet no recall. Ford decided to stop making the fuse box, which poses a problem because 1) not many are left in junk yard and they are vehicle specific (mine had to be same year and from Excursion only) and 2) you cannot tell if there is corrosion without nearly destroying the fuse box to open it. This needs to be a recalled item immediately, as I plan on my $50,000 truck to last more than 150,000 miles before it has to go to the scrap heap.

The power door lock electric motors freeze up and do not operate with the electric switch. The frozen power door lock does not allow the door to be opened properly and quickly in an event of an emergency. The manual door lock release knob must be utilized in order to unlock the doors. This safety issue affects all four doors of the vehicle. This is not an isolated safety hazard, we currently have 2 in our fleet and all the power door locks don't operate safely or properly. We have had other Ford Excursion which all were affected with the defective power door locks. The front door manual release knob is flush with the door panel which makes it even more difficult to attempt to escape from the vehicle in an event of an emergency.

2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 L diesel no start when key turned. Originally told it was a pats issue and needed new keys. Problem was intermittent then was continuous. All lights on dash came on but the starter would not turn over. Was a starter solenoid that was fried.

Windshield wipers running in intermittent mode. Started to smell an electrical burning smell in the interior cabin. Windshield wipers started to move very slowly. I tried to turn wipers to on-slow and on-fast mode and they worked erratically. I pulled off road and stopped vehicle and smoke was pouring out of drivers side on outside of windshield where wiper motor is located. I ran for my fire extinguisher but did not have to use it. Wipers are not functioning at this time. I have not replaced any parts at this time and I am filling a complaint. I see there is a NHTSA campaign id# 01V258000 that I believe involves my vehicle. I called Ford Motor Company and they noted my concerns and said there was no recall on my vehicle at this time.

I purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion last month from private seller. After fixing all of the door lock actuators ( which is apparently is yet another non-recalled problem) affecting most of these Ford vehicles, I discovered that the former owner "forgot" to tell me the GEM unit had been swapped out for one found apparently in a salvage yard. The GEM controls 4X4 function, and a Ford tech tells me, it appears this one came from a 4X2 vehicle. The plot thickens. This integral electrical component of a formerly $45,000 vehicle has been declared obsolete by fo mo co.. it cannot be found. There are none available...anywhere. No after market company has them either. This vehicle is virtually worthless to me.. I live in Colorado and must have a 4X4. I thought parts for vehicles had to be available for 20 years. Ford customer service hirelings have been totally worthless. "we're sorry, there is nothing we can do."

My car was working perfectly, except for a blinker light which was not working, it was completely off, I started my truck around 10am and I dropped my kids to school, came back and park my car, about 1 hour later I head out again, I insert the key to start the car and the minute it started lots of smoke started coming out from the front hood. Everything was so quick, there was not even time to open the hood and look, the truck got into fire, buy the time the firemen came there was a big fire, the car is completely lost.

2000 Ford Excursion 7.3L diesel 4X4 we've experienced intermittent failure of the generic electronic module that affects electrical safety components of the vehicle while raining heavily. The safety components affected are windshield wipers and lights on our vehicle- water leaking through the windshield was blamed by the dealer and a faulty GEM was replaced to the tune of about $755.

I stopped engine at my house, left headlights on to see. Wiring harness failure (dead short) ignited the left headlight assembly, flames extended over a foot high. Fuse never blew out. Had a fire extinguisher at hand, put out flames. $4600 damage, but saved the vehicle. Why didn't the fuse blow? I have all of the damaged parts: Wire harness, headlight, bracket. Took vehicle to Ford dealer, damage was repaired, insurance paid.
