It started with a creaking sound in the drivers door. Then three days later the door became very difficult to close. Took the car to the dealer service department and was told it has a broken spot weld failure that causes the door to be difficult to close and and the window to nor open fully. It is my understanding that this is a known safety problem with other vehicles reporting the same issue. My vehicle has only 18472 miles on it and is 3 years, 3 months old, so no longer covered by the warranty.

The driver's side door has a broke weld - there is an issue that it will not open and close correctly. Also due to the issue the window can not be rolled down which can causes visibility issues when rain or fog conditions are present. The door can sometimes be latched closed and other times will unlatch on its own. I tried to resolve with Ford but they indicate it is a known issue and will not cover the repair, leaving me to not be able to afford the repair but still in need of using the vehicle.

Pop weld on drivers side door broke. Ford is refusing to fix it or pay for the replacement parts even though there is an active investigation about this problem on multiple 2020 escapes... Hoping the investigation is wrapped up soon and a recall is ordered

problem #210

A weld in the driver-side door failed rendering the door nonfunctional and making it difficult to safely exit the car and creating a concern that the door may not provide proper protection. The weld failure was not due to an accident for any misuse. Personnel in the Ford service department and body shop were very familiar with this problem due to other similar cases. Ford corporate is reluctant to acknowledge or address the problem, stating that the NHTSA has not required a recall. As a senior citizen I should not be expected to climb through my vehicle to exit my vehicle safely and I should have confidence that the door will protect me. The failure of the weld requires the entire door to be replaced at a cost of $2000. Welding is the basic blocking and tackling of car building and Ford has been welding car bodies for over 100 years so there is no excuse.

On the 19th of September, 2023 I took my 2020 Ford Escape SE FWD 4-door, 3.1 into Zeck Ford, 4501 4th Trafficway, Leavenworth 66048 to have my driver-??s door fixed that was making the Snaping, Popping and Snaping sounds. Also, the driver-??s door window would not roll-up or roll-down. Escape vehicles exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly and the cost was $2,515.94 to repair my Escape by replacing the whole driver-??s door.

Driver side door making a clunking/ popping sound when opened and closed and window not operating normally. The hinge is very loose. The drivers side front door developed a loud clunking sound upon opening and closing. My car sees somewhat higher mileage than typical and my mileage is at 79K miles currently. Upon inspecting the issue, I determined that the door closing indent mechanism that stops the door from swinging open all the way was jumping around and making the loud thunking noise. Upon further looking I noticed all the spot welds were ripped out of the door body. Those welds hold a bracket on the inside of the door that holds the closing mechanism. I did a bit of online research and determined there was a service bulletin from Ford on this issue. I call the service rep I was working with on another issue and left a message about the door and the service bulletin number and asked for a call back. No Call back received. Meanwhile I have to drive my vehicle so I have been driving it. Opening the door causes loud thumping noises and ocassionally the window will no longer operate. I was going to live with it as didnt really think it was a safety issue. But the other day I stopped quickly on a downhill letft leaning slope and asTher I went to get out the weight of the door pulled me out of the car and I feel next to the car. The car started to roll forward and then slammed into park before the car ran over me. e is a failsafe on my car (hybrid with rotary shift know on console) that disengages the car from drive to park when you open the door. It did work but the 1ish second delay nearly allowed the car to run over me. Fortnunaely I was not injured except for a few bruises from the fall. Ford should make repairs to this car for driver safety issues. From what I read, the repair involves replacing the entire door and can cost thousands of dollars after bumper to bumper warranty is done. It is an obvious manufacturing issue and seems to be developing on many cars as their mileage, and therefore the number of cycles of door opening and closing taking place. Doors flying open should not happen.
