CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.
This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

My rear passenger and driver door panels have completed been pulled off and hard to open the door because the panels were caught on the recall door latches. I've had the door latches replaced and it still continued, they say the panels won't be replaced under warranties I have but I told dealership because of the latches that were recalled that my door panels are doing this if the latches were good and not recalled in the first place I would not have the issue. Since my panels are messed up because of a recall specifically made on my vehicle I should not have to pay 400-600 to get my door panels replaced when it was out of my control
In 2014, I bought a new Ford Escape from rhinebeck Ford in rhinebeck NY. It remained in pristine condition until its untimely 'death' on August 10, 2020. Prior to August 10, it was back at the dealership approximately 15 times to address safety recalls. On August 10 my wife, son and niece broke down in the middle of the road. We brought the car to rhinebeck Ford. After examining the car, we were told that the engine and cylinders have coolant in them, and the transmission is full of metal filings. Both of these issues combined mean that the car is diseased; however rhinebeck Ford is still in the process of creating a comprehensive list of the cause of death. Fortunately these dangerous defects did not result in injury to my family but they certainly do represent a serious safety risk. On August 10, the car had approximately 108,000 miles on it. I was sold a defective and unsafe vehicle and Ford Motor Company is not willing to make this right. I made numerous phone calls to Ford corporate offices and was told that since the warranty was expired and there are no active recalls pertaining to defective transmissions or engines that they would not stand by their product.

The center instrument panel has stopped working on my 2014 Ford Escape.the vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "control and displays. I have contacted Ford and was told that the recall started with vehicles manufactured beginning May 2014 and my vehicle was manufactured Feb 2014 so my VIN wasn't included however im having the same exact problems. I paid $100 at the dealership for a diagnostic and was told it would cost $1000 to replace the instrument panel. I am unable to see any safety issues with my car like low tire pressure or my mileage.

My vehicle keeps running the battery down when I have the doors open for just a few minutes, when I cut it off I can still hear a motor of some sort running and I have to restart the car a couple times before this motor or whatever it is stops, after taking to autozone have battery replaced, I was told nothing was wrong with my battery and it was some sort of electrical problem and would most likely be a recall. I did check for recalls and it shows none at this time
My 2014 Ford is leaking engine coolant into my engine as well as oil. Which is causing my car to decrease in acceleration and has caused my car to stall on city street. I took my car to a Ford dealership and they made it worst by not recognizing that this was a problem concerning a recall on Ford and refuses to fix my car.
Vehicle caught fire somewhere in the engine due to a recall issue (overheating of the engine cylinder head, etc.). Ford metro motors at #405 estate annas retreat, St. Thomas, vi 00802 did not and won't fix the vehicle without payment from me as the vehicle owner. The vehicle has been at that establishment since June 2019. I've been sent multiple estimates and service reports that are not factual and the establishment does not want to take responsibility for this vehicle fire.
For the last 3 to 4 months my car would start until I stopped for gas, then when I tried to start it the dash lights would flash off and on and all electrical systems would go dead.starting this week 11-10-2019 until today 11-16-2019 every time you want to go any place the vechile has to be jumped off.the second you jump it it starts so it is not the battery. It looses all electrical power.
While car is in motion our 2014 Ford Escape stalls. We turn the key off, turn it back in and it will sometimes run for a bit before stalling again and sometimes stall immediately. Currently this has happened on city streets and parking lots. Once while turning. Others going straight. Luckily we have not had this happen on the interstate yet.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V406000 (electrical system). Prime Ford saco (located at 857 portland rd, saco, me 04072, (207) 282-0300) was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
Attempted to start my vehicle and pushed ignition button. All of my panel lights and monitor started glitching and flashing and then everything went black. The engine did not start. There was a recall but my vehicle was not part of recall. I have owned vehicle for 2 years. I have had a drivers door lock cylinder fall out. I have rust in several locations, including hatch and passenger interior side of door.
Get a "engine fault service now" notification on dash when I start the car - if I drive with that notice up on the dash my car sputters. Had it ran through the computer and it lines up exactly with recall: NHTSA campaign id number 14V495000. But, my VIN is not covered.
Coolant issues similar to those included in the part 573 safety recall 17V-209, though my vehicle was manufactured a few weeks later and not included in that recall, as well as electrical issues that were similar to other recalls that didn't include my VIN. In June 2019, it started with the vehicle not turning on or shifting out of park intermittently.. work was performed and then a week later P0303 cylinder misfire.. again work was completed, the code came back, and now Ford is recommending replacing the engine but will not cover the costs due to being 5 years and in excess of 60K miles. Took for 2nd opinion and ran out of coolant and overheated less than 5 miles away from Ford dealership, even though they just replaced the coolant overflow tank and filled it.. continues need coolant every few miles. Seems crazy that a vehicle that stayed on top of routine maintenance and has not been involved in an accident or excessive conditions would need a new engine at less than 94K miles and is the consumer's responsibility to foot the bill. I've already spent almost $3K on this issue and Ford verbally told me just the engine would be around $7-8K without labor. They also had their sales department call me and offer to "take a couple hundred off a new vehicle" for my current one. Very disheartening to hear that when I've taken care of the vehicle as the sole owner, less a few recommended tire rotations.
The multi-function display in my instrument panel went blank. As a result the warning chimes, messages and warning lights are non-functional. I am not warned of safety issues such as low tire pressure or disabled airbags. This is also the only place on the car where the mileage is shown so I don't even know my mileage!
The instrument cluster is inoperative the screen is completely blank I am concerned the driver of may not be warned of safety related issues such as low tire pressures or disabled air bag, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash

Intermittently when you start your vehicle, the instrument cluster gauges and information display may be inoperative. In addition, all warning lamps and indicators, and audible warnings may also not function. Intermittent stalling, and increases of speed without user interference
