The contact owns a 2018?Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The contact declined the fuel tank repair and took the vehicle to another independent mechanic, where the camshaft phaser and an unknown part were replaced. The failure recurred with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle failed to start up. The vehicle was then diagnosed by a third independent mechanic, who determined that there was a coolant leak and that the timing chain, oxygen sensor, and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately?48,000.

The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V583000 (Engine) however, the neither the VIN nor the vehicle type was included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

Cylinder engine misfires due to a faulty manufactured head gasket. Ford motor co was apparently aware of the manufacturing flaw but has yet to issue a recall on certain Ford Edge models sold manufactured and sold between 2013 -2018. The solution to the problem requires a completely new engine with average cost ranging between $6,000 to $8,000 dollars. If these particular models are driven without the requisite repairs it can result in complete engine failure of fires. This presents a serious hazard to drivers and occupants of the vehicle as well as other motorists.

After a check engine light came on, vehicle was brought to local Ford dealership. After the problem was diagnosed it was determined that there was a defect in the engine that resulted in coolant leaking into the cylinders. There are currently 8 TSB's regarding this issue and a pending class action law suit. We are now currently responsible for replacing the entire engine at a cost of almost 9,0000.00

2018 Ford Edge with a little over 25000 miles and serviced at the dealership it was purchased from. The battery will drain to less than 5 volts overnight for no apparent reason. Unit is on its second battery and it test fine. The issue is not consistent, sometimes it will happen only after a couple of months, othertimes after a few days between occurances. Its appears when when the car if turned off, something in one of its many computers is not shutting down all the required systems allowing the battery to drain overnight. Short of installing a battery disconnect switch, I', running out of ideas. Neither my wife of I feel safe driving the car, since it may leave us stranded.

I am experiencing a coolant leak into the engine of my vehicle. I was told there was a recall for many 2015-2018 Ford Edge's but it seems mine is not one of them. This is exactly like the recall I see that is 20V469000. I am trying to find out how to get someone to look into my issue and see about getting me included in this recall or any others that are associated with coolant leaking into the engine.

I have a 2018 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost with approximately 68,000 miles on it. While driving the vehicle on June 12, 2023, the check engine light began to come on and off intermittently. During this time, the vehicle began to heavily shake and began to involuntarily jerk as though it was having issues moving forward. I took the vehicle straight to a Firestone where they ran diagnostic tests for 2 days. They tried replacing spark plugs but said that is not the issue. They recommended taking the vehicle to a dealership. An appointment was made and the car dropped off at a Ford dealership on June 21,2023. After running more tests, the dealership is stating that there is a manufacturing defect with the engine block which has caused coolant leakage into the engine, damaging the engine so extensively that it needs to be replaced. I was quoted around $8,000 for repairs. I have an extended warranty with a 3rd party company who is denying my claim due to the issue being a manufacturing issue. I have done research and found this to be a common issue with this year make and model and that the issue could cause a fire or catastrophic failure. After extensive research, it seems this is a common issue with owners of this make and model and this engine. There have been hundreds of complaints filed. This should be a recall as people can be severely hurt in the event of fire or catastrophic failure. And most people do not have nearly $10,000 to spend to replace an issue that is common and well known at this point. I have been without a vehicle for over 2 weeks now and have no idea if or how this vehicle will be repaired.

Brought in for a check engine light on. They found that coolant was leaking into motor causing it to Misfire. Dealer said a new long block was the only fix. My car had 64k miles and it cost me $8438.58. The dealer stated that Ford won-??t help with the cost because I haven-??t bought enough Ford products (This is my 2nd) or had my vehicle serviced at a Ford dealer. The car is currently going back in the shop on Wednesday because the light went on again after a brand new motor was installed.

My 2018 ford edge coolant has hairline cracks which caused coolant to leak into the engine. I was unaware of this until it was taken to a Ford service center when the check engine light came on. Ford knows about this and has a bulletin out for it. The engine is burning this coolant and it could cause the engine to overheat.

Over time, the vehicle began to shudder at start up with the temperature gauge warning symbol flashing on the instrument panel. The contact's father inspected the vehicle and discovered that the coolant reservoir was empty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the engine block had cracked, and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN regarding the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

My car was mis-firing, AutoZone ran a diagnostic test and said it was the #2 cylinder. We replaced all of the spark plugs and cylinders and it was still mis-firing. O-??Reilly-??s ran a diagnostic test and said it was the #2 and #3 cylinders. I was then driving to the store and got a warning message that the car was overheating. I stopped and we looked and there was no coolant. We contacted a local mechanic who said he had seen this problem before in other Ford Edge-??s that the coolant was leaking into the cylinders and when the car warmed up and burned off the coolant it ran like it was not mis-firing, and that is exactly what my Ford Edge was doing. We were told by the Ford dealership that we would need to replace the long block and Ford was not issuing a recall because this particular Edge was not made at a certain plant. Well they need to include the plant where this Edge was made because it has the same coolant intrusion problem.

Please Note: I filed a previous complaint (#11511950) on 03/15/2023. Please refer to Ford Technical Service Bulletin TSB 22-2229 issued in June 2022 regarding coolant intrusion into cylinder head on 2017 - 2020 Ford Ecoboost 2.0L engines. Due to a faulty design all of these engines are all destined for total failure. In their own technical service bulletin Ford describes the appropriate fix as total engine replacement. Because of what should surely be considered Ford's manufacturing defect, coolant inevitably intrudes into the cylinder head(s) mixing coolant with the fuel. Once this has begun it is only a matter of time before the engine fails. If such a total engine failure (hydrolock) occurrs at speed the results could be catastrophic, leading to deaths and injuries. Under these circumstances it is difficult to understand why there has not been a recal on these faulty engines. Further, Ford has already offered owners of Ford vehicles with the Ecoboost 1.5L engines, subject to the same problem for the same reason, total engine replacement regardless of mileage.

My 2.0L EcoBoost engine is having the coolant intrusion into the cylinder issue that Ford has acknowledge in a technical service bulletin, but is not doing anything about it. There is a design flaw with this engine and Ford has redesigned in in later years, but has not issued a recall. The coolant reservoir is getting low and there are no signs of leak under the vehicle as it is leaking into the cylinder. I was getting DTCs for cylinder 2 misfire and my car would shake on startup some times. I changed the spark plugs and ignition packs at 100k and noticed that the cylinder 2 spark plugged looked more brown/burnt (it was burning coolant in the cylinder) than he other 3. The coolant has been low (below the min mark) and I have topped it off 3 times already as the issue keeps reoccurring. Coolant in the cylinder is an issue and low coolant could cause the engine to overheat and blow at any point and could be a catastrophic accident waiting to happen. I spoke about the symptoms over the phone to the service guy at my local Ford dealer and he was already familiar with this issue and confident that I have it based on our conversation. I have plans to take it to my mechanic to have them inspect it as well as the dealer.

Question 1 answer: Last month, the check engine light on my 2018 Ford Edge came on. So, we took it to the Ford dealership for repairs 0n 5/3/2023. The service center said that there was a problem with one of the spark plugs and replaced it. The cost was $193.47. Following the repair, the check engine light was reset and the car ran smoothly. I took the car on a trip and drove it around 1,000 miles. The check engine light came on again. I returned the car to the same dealership service center on 5/26/2023. Ford told me (see receipt) there was a code P0302 and P0316 and indicated cylinder #2 was misfiring. Receipt said checked all cylinders and pistons for discoloration. Cylinder #2 was badly discolored. Vehicle has coolant intrusion in cylinders - needs motor. This bill was $180. Service desk personnel asked whether I had an extended warranty since vehicle was at 68,352 miles. I said, "no." Service desk told me that I needed a new motor and the cost would be around $10,000! Service desk also told me that this was a common problem with several Ford models including the Edge, Focus, and Fusion. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request unless we sell or trade it. Question 2: The only safety issue may be that I could have been out on the road if the engine failed. Question 3: See Question 1 answer and attached receipt from car dealership service center Question 4: No, unless you consider the Ford dealership service center as "the manufacturer." Question 5: Prior to each car dealership service center visit, the car ran rough upon starting and the check engine light came on and stayed on until it went to the repair shop. It takes time to get an appointment scheduled. So, each time the situation occurred, it took approximately one week to schedule a repair visit. Also, please note that the address shown on the dealership receipt is my previous address. I've entered my current address where prompted.
