Coolant is being used up but not leaking anywhere on the ground. It is mis-firing. It has run out of coolant - with NO leak found anywhere. Check engine light comes on and goes off. Looks like the Ford Fusion Recall Issue but there is no recall on my VIN. I cannot afford to repair this defect. Can you do anything to assist my 2018 Ford Edge with its internal coolant leak?

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact arrived at his destination and checked the engine and noticed that the coolant level was low. The contact refilled the coolant reservoir and upon starting the vehicle noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle had a misfire and determined that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred, and the check engine warning light illuminated, and a large amount of white smoke was coming from the exhaust pipes when the vehicle was started. The contact researched online and related the failure to coolant intrusion into the cylinder block. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

I have a 2018 Ford Edge SEL with 36,460 miles on it. Problem began a few months ago on startup, engine would shudder for a few seconds then clear up, no check engine light came on. A few weeks later I experienced the same issue but the engine light came on! The repair shop changed the ignition coil, the spark plugs and the #2 cylinder injector! Vehicle ran well for a few weeks. While driving on [XXX] in Virginia the engine misfired and the check engine light came on, I found a Ford Dealership nearby and had them do a diagnostic check on the engine! I was informed by the service manager that the problem was -??coolant intrusion-?? in the #2 cylinder! He provided me with the technical service bulletin #22-2229 which clearly states that to correct the problem -??the long block engine assembly-?? must be replaced! Price quoted for this repair was $7,000 plus labor! My local dealership filed a claim with Ford, waiting to hear back from them, not holding my breath! I own a 2018 Ford Edge Titanium with a 4 cylinder 2.0 Liter engine. After experiencing check engine light my local dealer stated I need a new engine because of a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine-??s cylinders, which can cause corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure. The car does not run now and is parked. I HAVE READ SAFETY ISSUE REPORTS FROM MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS LEAD TO THE ENGINE MISFIRING BADLY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ALSO SOME CASES OF VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE.

I have a 2018 Ford edge SEL with the 2.0 ecoboost engine in it that I just bought June 3rd, 2023. The engine light came on a couple weeks ago, so I took it to the dealership that I bought it from and found out the engine is bad because of coolant leaking into one of the cylinders. Upon further research I found that this is due to a design flaw in the engine by Ford but Ford has not recalled this engine. However Ford has recalled the 1.0 engines along with a couple others. I feel Ford should also recall the 2.0 ecoboost engine because this has been an ongoing issue for many people and the customers shouldn't have to pay for a new engine when it is a defective design that Ford even knows about but hasn't done anything

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was shaking. An unknown message was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact checked the coolant level and discovered that it was empty. The contact added coolant to the coolant reservoir; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into cylinder #4, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 42,800.

I had my car serviced. I drove less than a mile and noticed the check engine light was on. I called the dealer to see if they could check it as I had to drive 120 miles round trip for a doctor-??s appointment that day. I was told it indicated a misfire but not to be concerned; I was told it was ok to drive. They cleared the error message and told me I was good to go. The check engine light came on sporadically for a week then stayed on permanently. I called on a Friday and got it in for diagnostics the following Monday (2 weeks from servicing date.) I was told after diagnostics that the coolant was low and they needed 2 hours to remove a spark plug and check cylinder 3. I was advised that they had seen this issue previously on other Ford vehicles and it was not a cheap fix if what they suspected was happening. The Service department later confirmed there was a coolant intrusion (coolant was leaking into cylinder 3.) I was told that this has been an issue for Ford and they have redesigned the block so this can no longer happen. It would just be a matter of time before the engine would be ruined on my vehicle (2018 Ford Edge with slightly over 52000 miles.) Ford knows they have a problem with the design of the engine of the 2018 Ford Edges but they are handling each vehicle individually instead of voluntarily fixing all of them. I do not have an extended warranty so they may offer some financial assistance for the repair but if I had warranty coverage it would be entirely covered. They are pricing assistance based on warranty coverage. Ford knows they have a problem; they have redesigned the engine to eliminate the coolant intrusion. A new redesigned engine is what the dealer would put in my vehicle.

2018 Ford Edge, well maintained, 67k miles. Coolant is leaking into Cylinder 4 through is microhole that can cause the engine to explore. The dealership quoted me nearly $11,000 to fix. The car according to Kelley Blue Book is worth that much. This care should be recalled IMMEDIATELY. There is a class action lawsuit against for for this very problem. It is not safe and ford is totally scamming customers out of money based on a manufacturing defect.

Coolant system started to leak into the cylinders, causing both low-coolant and corrosion of the spark plugs. We contacted a Ford repair center and they said the only remedy is to replace the entire engine. Apparently this is a design flaw. The engine light started go go on in December 2024 and the problem has only gotten worse and worse since then.

Car began bucking at first and running rough about 82000 miles on it I changed plugs and shortly after it started again. It began to over heat when I drove from Maine to KY. I found it was low on Coolant. I had to fill it again a month or so later. Mechanic did not find any coolant leaks. I brought it to ford and they told me coolant was getting into the cylinders and I need an engine replacement. I am [XXX] drive like an old man and no reason engine should fail the way I drive I understand Ford recalled the 1.5 echo boost but not the 2.0 and they were made with the same defect. They are aware of this and redesigned the engine. It cost me 6.000 dollars to fix at a time I am nearing retirement. Coolant Leaking Into Cylinders. Ford had already noticed this issue that coolant intrusion into the cylinder with tons of 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine. They have never recall, replace, or even try to fix this issue. It very easily causes engine overheated which is a significant risk. Please consider to have them do a nationally recall and help people on the way to be safe! Thank you

Engine failed due to coolant intrusion on cylinder two! Been experiencing coolant loss with no evidence of where it was going. Have had multiple pressure tests performed with no results of a leak. Started experiencing a spurts of misfire when accelerating up hill or on a high at speeds of 60-75MPH, inconsistently. Happened again on 05/07/2024, called my local dealership and was advised to bring it in to have a tech take a drive. On that drive he was able to replicate misfire to the point a check engine light appeared while my edge was experiencing misfire. When misfire stopped engine light shut off. Once we were back the tech performed diagnostic measures and found coolant spewing into the engine. Resulting in the need of a new engine.

My car is only 6 years old. I have maintained my car for the past 5 years of ownership. My car now needs a complete engine replacement due to coolant leaking into the cylinders. This was looked at by my local Ford dealership. After reading through other reviews it appears that other owners have experienced the exact same issue. I also was told my the dealership that Ford Escapes experienced the exact same issue and there was a recall. My car shakes and rattles and is unsafe to drive. I was told my the dealership that I could still drive it, but it is unknown when the engine will completely fail. I am a mom of two children and I cannot drive a car that could just randomly fail! My check engine line appeared about 2 weeks ago before I could get an appointment to be seen.

I had my 2018 Ford Edge in Gerald Jones Ford Lincoln dealership services department at Augusta, GA on [XXX] (soonest appointment schedule available) due to check engine light turning on that I detected on [XXX] According to their diagnosis, my vehicle is now in need of total engine rebuild/replace. On [XXX], 12 days prior to the check engine light turning on, my vehicle was at the dealership for its regular maintenance (oil change, tire pressure, top off fluid, etc.) that also included a multi-point inspection. There were no engine issues detected on the vehicle 12 days prior. All of a sudden, 12 days later, the vehicle's engine light turned on and now in need of serious repair. This vehicle has less than 40k mileage. I did some research and based on submitted complaints online from other vehicle owners, I became aware that there are known issues to the engine design causing misfires and coolant leaking into the combustion chamber/engine that is specific to my vehicle's make and model. Ford has not issued a recall but many have reported similar if not exact problems I am experiencing. I reached out to the dealership's General Manager on [XXX] regarding my concerns. I also called his number on [XXX] and left a voicemail message. It has been 3 business days and I have not received any email response or callback from the General Manager. At the moment, I have the vehicle in my possession while I am trying to deal with the current situation. fINFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
