The coolant is leaking into the engine. This has been reported more than 900 times and Ford has yet to issue a recall or make people aware of the issue. This can be hazardous breaking down on the highway and especially when traveling alone with areas having no cell service. On 4/4/2024, I was on my way to the office when my car started overheating out of nowhere and went into low power mode. Cars zooming past me because I couldn-??t keep up is very dangerous. I was stuck and couldn-??t get over anywhere. On 4/10/24, I-??m told to get proof that I had routine maintenance done to my car and on 4/11, I was told the engine needed replacing. It was acknowledged that this is a known issue.

Purchased 2017 Ford Edge new from Ford dealership. Vehicle maintained by same dealer since new. At approximately 81950 miles the check engine light appeared. Error codes indicated cylinders 2 and 4 were misfiring. All four spark plugs and coils were changed and engine light cleared. Approximately 5 lays later it reappeared and engine ran ruff. Took vehicle to a ASE certified shop that ran a diagnosis indicating several codes. Further investigation revealed water in number 2 cylinder. Was informed by shop tech that there is no repair as engine block design is faulty. Returned to Ford dealer and was informed that engine would need replaced at a cost of $10,000. Drove vehicle for a few more days (approx. 100 miles) during which on 3 occasions the engine would suddenly run ruff and stop resulting loss of power steering and brakes. - engine failure, yes available for inspection - engine stopping, loss of power steering and power brakes - yes confirmed by dealer and independent service center - yes, check engine light and engine running ruff (81950 miles)

I have a 2017 Ford Edge and have the issue of intrusion of coolant into the cylinders, which I learned from some research is a known problem that this model is having. It initially was a check engine light. I brought it to an oil change place and they ran the code and said I needed a tuneup. I got a tuneup and the light returned. It caused the engine to overheat. Luckily, I was not stranded but could have easily been stranded with my grandkids in the car on a roadway. The only resolution is a complete engine replacement costing me $8,000 because Ford has not issued a recall on this known problem and is not standing behind their product.

Purchased [XXX] 2017 EDGE SEL AWD TWIN SCRL 2.0L ECOBOOST ENG. The FORD PREMIUM CARE plan was purchased for additional $2595. [XXX] with 54899k miles, check engine light appeared, the red wrench appeared on the MIL, cooling fan running on high and harsh shifting. Diagnosed with transmission failure and replacement, completed on [XXX] at PARADISE FORD IN COCOA FLORIDA. On [XXX], 108746k miles the check engine light appeared on the dash. Diagnosed AT BILL MARSH FORD GAYLORD MICHIGAN as PO302 and PO316. Known TSB [XXX] 2.0L ECCOBOOST COOLANT IN CYLINDERS. running rough and shudder. DIAGNOSED AT SECOND DEALERSHIP ON [XXX] WITH SAME CONCLUSION. PO302 PO316. After checking the ECO system it was determined that #2 sparkplug was seized with coolant leaking into the cylinder. Plug was removed and replacement of long block recommended. After further investigation a known technical issue is present in that component, a class action law suit is pending, (Quill and Arrow Law) and a recall pertaining to the failure of 2.0L ECCOBOOST ENGINE. The car is no longer reliable for daily basic transportation unless the 2.0L engine is replaced. With only 108k miles on the car I feel another 100K miles is feasible. I got got the classic Cyl#2 misfire a month after buy it from a local Ford dealer, threw money at it coils wiring harness plugs, took it back to them and they told me it needs a new engine. The engine has coolant leaking into cyl #2 causing the code. The dealership suggested I Trade the edge in for another one, yeah just got stuck with a $19,000 loan for this one I need another $19,000 on top? I already pay $381 a month that would double my monthly bill. so my choices are slim to none. I don't want a boat anchor or a paper weight I have to get a loan to replace the engine for $6,200, To my understanding there are more than 750,000 vehicle affected by the flawed engine design. They knew about the flaw 2019 and redesigned the engine at least 3 more times. There are attached TSBs from Ford.

Coolant is getting into the cylinder 1. There is a TSB for the issue 19-2208 which Ford does not seem to be concerned with and engines are needing replaced at an early age just out of the 60,000 warranty.

I have already filed a report on my 2017 Ford Edge, I wanted to add this statement Ford made. Recall Programs A recall is conducted to remedy a Safety, Compliance, or Emissions concern. Recalls are Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)-specific programs. There are no expiration dates on Safety Recalls or Safety Compliance Recalls. Also, there are generally no expiration dates on Emission Recalls or Emission Compliance Recalls. Reasons for holding Ford Motor Company accountable. Thank you.

The component that has failed is the engine. It is available upon request to be inspected. I believe the safety issue lies in that the motor overheats and is possibly a fire risk. I have had my car engine inspected by an ASE mechanic and confirmed engine block needs replaced. The car was determined to have an issue by engine check light. Needed to constantly replace Coolant, was found to be leaking into cylinders. According to report from ASE mechanic, date of issue on report June 09, 2022 2015-2018 FORD EDGE, FORD FUSION and MKC listed on TSB. ISSUE SUMMARY, Some 2015-2018 EDGE and 2017-2019 FUSION/MKZ/ESCAPE/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0 l EcoBoost engine may exhibit low coolant level, white exhaust smoke, runs rough. DTC {codes} include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and or P1299 stored in control module. To correct condition follow service procedure to replace the long block engine assembly.

The engine is malfunctioning. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The engine could fail, loss of power, if while passing a vehicle on 2 lane highway a major loss of coolant, overheating due to loss of coolant. Result could be major damage to engine and or fire or both resulting in an accident. The problem has been confirmed by both a Ford dealership and an independent service center. The vehicle engine has been inspected by a Ford dealership in Jacksonville Fl. The engine warning light has come on several times since late 2022 or early 2023. This is when it 1st appeared. 2 dates are significant here: 3/28/23 an engine diagnostic completed due to engine light on, a slight mist detected into cylinder one. 2/19/24 another engine diagnostic completed at Autonation Ford in Jacksonville FL. Confirmed to me by telephone conversation that coolant is leaking into a cylinder. The remedy: a new, remanufactured or used engine has to be installed. All this information is on the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine made by Ford Motor Co. This problem has been known by Ford since maybe as early 2013, not only on this model from 2015-2018 but on the Ford Fusion 2017-2019, Ford Escape, built on or before 16 May-2019. Lincoln Model MKC, built on or before18-April 2019; 2017-2019 MKZ, built on or before 8-April 2019. Reference#': [XXX] issued [XXX] Superseded bulletin(s) [XXX] NOTE: Bulletin [XXX] supersedes [XXX]. The check engine light gave codes P0302 & P0316 and I had noticed the coolant level being low. After doing some research, I see that Ford issued a TSB 22-2229 as the fix for the problem which includes a new engine block because of a poor design for the coolant flow causing the block to crack. This should fall on to Ford to repair rather than people that expect and need their vehicle to last.

Check engine light comes back on after several return trips to repair shop and several thousand dollars in repair cost. Issue is misfires. Plugs and coils have been replaced several times, as well as starter sensor but the problem persists. I understand this is an ongoing issue with countless 2017 Ford Edge owners. Not only is it costly, but the main issue is with safety as the engine may lose power while in transit, risking a hazardous situation for the occupants of the vehicle as well as other vehicles on the road. Just last week I brought the vehicle for yet another cylinder 1 misfire, to a different shop. It cost me $585 to repair. Two days ago the same cylinder started misfiring. Bringing it back to the shop yet again.

So the ecoboost engine in my 2017 ford edge has coolant intrusion in #1 cylinder at about 120,000mi which apparently is a known defect and happening to many others with ecoboost engines from 2015 to 2018. Yes available for inspection upon request. Safety? I don't know what happens if I keep driving which I have to because the recommended fix is a replacement engine which is $8,050. I've read many other comments from other people who are also stuck paying for a vehicle they can't or shouldn't be driving. Yes confirmed by a dealership service department. No not inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. Yes check engine light came on months ago when first checked out by same dealer was told I needed a powertrain control module. Please make ford take responsibility for this. Everyday people can not afford this and leaves us basically screwed.
