as I was driving to work on i95N near Springfield, VA, the "coolant high temperature" warning light illuminated on my dashboard. as I was in rush hour traffic, I slowed down and moved right to diagnose the issue. i was able to exit the highway and immediately enter the lot of Sheehy Ford, Springfield VA. The dealer inspected my vehicle while I obtained a ride to work, then called me later to explain the issue. Their testing revealed error code P0301. the service advisor told me that Ford TSB 19-2346 "coolant intrusion into long block" was the issue and the recommended repair is to replace the engine. I called Ford customer service and was advised that there was no recall for this known problem and that my car was out of warranty (@70K miles). as such, Ford would not cover any of the repair expense. The Ford dealer has ordered a new engine and advised me that it will cost $7500 for parts and service. I can ask them to keep the engine for inspection, but I need to know soon. Safety was put at risk by an unforeseen issue without advance notice or warning that occurred in heavy traffic at high speed. In retrospect, I did notice excess exhaust from the vehicle prior to the incident and some difficulty starting, but there no other warning. This occurred less than 30 minutes prior to the warning light activation.

So about 3 weeks ago on Tuesday my check engine light came on my 2016 ford edge and the car was stuttering. The following day Wednesday I took it to my mechanic and they said it's a cylinder 2 misfire and replaced my spark plugs then 4 days later Sunday my check engine light came back on I could go no faster then 40mph. Had to wait till July 6th to bring it to my Ford dealership Steven's Ford in milford ct where they found I had coolant leaking into my engine which is a know Ford issue with there 2015- 2018 eco boost engines and the only repair they have is to replace the engine with a new one because a reman engine would have the same problem and the reason I could not drive my car above 40 mph is because it was only running on 3 cylinders

The scan revealed P0316 misfire on startup and P0301 cylinder 1misfire. It was discovered that the top of the cylinder 1 piston appears to be "washed" which happens when fuel is not ignited during the combustion process. This confirms the constant "toping off" of the engine coolant, which indicates a coolant leak in cylinder number 1. This diagnosis was from Christian Brothers Automotive, Acworth, Ga.

This vehicle has a design flaw within the engine. The engine and head gasket had a leak that caused the vehicle cylinder to fill with engine coolant, and caused the vehicle to unexpectedly misfire, overheat, and stall. I have also read accounts of other individuals vehicles catching fire. Thankfully this has not happened with my vehicle, however, it did stall out in the middle of the road during rush hour. As a result it was taken to FORD and they informed me that the entire engine would need to be replaced as a result of the failure.

My 2016 Ford Edge sel recently displayed a check engine light and the vehicle was loosing coolant without leakage under vehicle. The error code presented was P0304. Upon pressure testing coolant was found to be leaking into the 4th cylinder, and causing a misfire. The vehicle is less than 5 years old and Ford is claiming the only solution is a complete engine replacement for more than 7K.

2016 Edge bought 10/16 59,000 miles approximately. The engine over heating light came on engine idling poorly took into dealer for diagnosis. Vehicle needs a motor. It's sitting in dealer now for over 30 days engine on back order. Based on number of bought in October 2016 Edge 59,000 miles over heat light on took to Ford dealer Ford is slowly taking care of the problem. I would say beside waiting 6- 8 weeks to get vehicle fixed under warranty who will reimbursed for devaluation of a known problem on my vehicle.

Check engine light appeared. The 2016 Ford Edge brought in to check after no particular coolant problem diagnosed the car was brought in again when it was diagnosed with a coolant leaking into the engine. Replacement cost $8250. After extensive negotiating with Ford they offered a %55 help of $4590. This leaves me with &3660 cost to fix an engine on a car the I still owe$9880. As a retired couple buying in good faith a brand new car valued at $40000 and expecting it to last for many many years. This long standing problem with this Ford engine should be recalled and not cause such worry and stress for the good faith consumers

Engine light illuminates. Diagnostics will indicate misfire. Change plugs and coil pack. Light will again illuminate after a few miles. Found the block to having hairline cracks; allowing water in the cylinder causing misfire. This is the 2nd one we purchased with the same problem. Investigating online this is a known problem. There are 45 complaints just on one site with all the same problem. The fix is a new engine ($3000 to $5000). Ford knows this problem that began in 2015 and continues to this day.

There are times when I press on the gas and the engine bogs down and the engine starts running very ruff. I can only do about 2 miles per hour, which is very dangerous as I am in traffic on city streets and on the highway, when this happens. The only thing that fixes it is to pull over, shut the car down, and then restart. This has happened 5 times since I bought the car in December of 2019 and it is only January of 2021.

I own a 2016 Ford Edge that use to be my leased work vehicle and I bought it from the company for my wife on 11/15/2019 with 67,696 miles on the odometer. I have never had one issues with this car and I have put every mile on it from work until I bought it from the company/emkay lease program. The current mileage as of today is 72,853 miles and I had it serviced from landmark Ford in portland Oregon. My check engine light came last week on and I took the Edge in for service but needed to bring the vehicle back today so landmark Ford could do a diagnostics on the vehicle. My wife and my daughter dropped off the vehicle and hours later, I was notified by chris kelso at landmark Ford (503-598-8398) that coolant was getting into the engine cylinders and I would need to replace the engine for close to $7000. I have dealt with chris for years and he does a great job for me and my family. Chris mentioned that this has been a problem with Edges and a new engine is the only way to fix it. I told chris I can't afford to replace an engine on a vehicle I purchased in November of 2019, so why wouldn't Ford have a recall for this issue, if they knew about the problem? chris did not have an answer, which I can tell that bothered him. I've taken great care of this Ford Edge since the odometer had 13 miles on it for my work fleet vehicle. I'm currently driving a 2019 Ford Edge for my new work vehicle and I have been a Ford and a Ford Edge fan but this news to replace the engine is very unsettling to me at this time in our lives. I would really like someone with the authority to step up and provide some assistance to help me replace my engine on this vehicle under a consumer recall especially after reading all the comments for other Edge owners please Ford Motor Company post a recall notice for the faulty coolant leaking into the engine.

At approximately 53,000 miles, 2.0L I4 ecoboost engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leek into block - #2 cylinder failure. Although cost of repairs were covered under warranty, it took a lot of effort to get this all accomplished. Bought this car brand new for $40,000 and have had all maintenance meticulously completed at local dealership (where I purchased the vehicle). Worried now about the durability of the installed replacement engine. That engine now has nearly 20,000 miles on it and is out of warranty.

My check engine light came on, checked vehicle with code reader and code P0303 & P0316 showed. When vehicle started when cold, it would chug and stall out at times. Vehicle was brought to dealership. They found coolant was getting into the #3 cylinder. Therefore requiring a new long block. We researched tsb19-2346 and found the exact symptoms to what caused my engine failure, and this goes for all 2.0 liter eco-boost engines. Basically, a factory material defect in head that allowed coolant to leak into cylinder block, which can cause engine failure. My Ford warranty was expired due to my vehicle mileage. My extended warranty company due to wording in contract would only cover internal, lubricated failure of engine. The dealership deemed my failure to be an external, material cause because it came from the head. I called Ford Motor Company and they had nothing to say about it and would not back their product. In the end, I believe with no question that this should have been a recall, which it never was. My vehicle had around 86,000 miles and should not need a new engine. My vehicle was a 2016 Ford Edge SE, with 2.0 liter eco-boost, that I purchased brand new.

I was driving my son to his father's house and my car literally died while it was moving. Thankfully I was close to the house and we were not on a major street or highway, but it took several times for it to start again so that we could move it out of the way. I took the car to a Ford dealer and there is coolant leaking into the engine and now requires a new long engine block which will cost me almost $7,000 and an additional $1,000 for a rental car, as I am a single mom. I was on my way to work and could have been driving on the highway when this happened. I'm lucky that I wasn't.

I purchased a new Ford Edge directly from dealership in 2016. I have maintained the vehicle extremely well. Around 95,000 my check engine light came on for a few days then went off for a week or so. When it came back on again, around 98,000 I called to make an appointment. They couldn't get me in for about a week. When I took the vehicle in it had 101,000. They told me I have a cylinder head coolant intrusion because of a small crack. They recommend a long block engine repair for $8000. They said this is a known problem with the Ford ecoboost engines. I see there's 100's of complaints online for the same issue. Contacted Ford and they said there's nothing they can do to help. A car that's 3 1/2 years old should not need a new engine. This is a known Ford engine defect that they are not standing behind.

Started having white smoke. Sheehy Ford dealership told me I needed a new engine due to coolant intrusion into cylinder 1. car has 88,000 miles and has been cared for exactly as Ford recommends and mileage was all highway mileage due to my job. Cost for new engine is $8,000. Found out about tsb 19-2346 after researching the diagnosis. If I would have know this last Dec (when it was released) I could have traded the car for my new Toyota. After hours and hours of research, I will now get rid of my 2 Ford and get a rav 4 and another Tacoma.
