At first inspection I was told it was a blown head gasket due to coolant leaking in motor. When taken apart the big block is cracked. Is going to be a entire motor replacement. Car only has 91,447 and has had regular services.

Car has over 89000 miles and maintained regularly. I am the only owner and kept in garage. Check engine light came on which had a code of P0302, P0303, P0304. Mechanic confirmed coolant has leaked into cylinder and has caused crack with his borescope. Only fix is an entire engine replacement. I have no alternative but to get replacement car. This has cost me thousands in unplanned expenses to purchase a replacement before I am ready and the lost value on my vehicle due to this issue. This has apparently been known for years and no communications from Ford on this was ever received. I find this unacceptable for a company to allow this defect to go ignored.

I noticed my coolant level was roughly an inch below the minimum line on 6/25/22. I filled my coolant to the max line. My check engine light appeared 6/28/22 for cylinder 2 misfire. I replaced all 4 spark plugs and the coil for #2, and the error message was still reading after the parts were swapped, while the vehicle was off. A few days later I noticed my coolant was again an inch below the minimum line, so I refilled my coolant (refilled roughly 5 times until today, 7/21/22). It always dropped and held to an inch below the minimum line. My check engine light reappeared on 7/12/22 so I took vehicle for diagnostics 7/21/22 at Inver Grove Ford, MN 55087. Tech confirmed vehicle is still misfiring for cylinder #2 so they removed the coil and smelled coolant entering the combustion area, leading them to insert a camera and saw coolant in #2 and #3. They recommended a total new engine (assuming one with a long block to avoid this issue again in the future), for $9,150. My vehicle is 6 years old with less than 100k in miles. The dealership informed me this is an issue Ford is aware of, they have put out a Technical Service Bulletin (19-2139) but are unwilling to fix this issue for customers. The tech informed they have since redesigned the engine so this fault is less likely in newer models. I was unaware of this common issue until my check engine light came on and brought it to a dealership. This poses a great danger as with low levels of coolant -€œlocalized overheating of the engine cylinder head may cause the cylinder head to crack, causing a pressurized oil leak that may result in a fire in the engine compartment.-€ (Recall 17S09). The current issues people are facing are incredibly similar to previous recalls. It is unsafe for consumers to unknowingly drive a vehicle in which the seller knows has a risk of fault, and has since corrected such fault in later models.

2016 Ford Edge had engine light come on. Ford dealer found coolant in engine and I was told by Ford dealer it was a misfire in engine cylinder 4 and that I would need a new engine and it would be a $7300-$7500 repair. Later, I found class action lawsuit regarding this issue. Asked Ford for financial help and they denied my request. I haven't decided if I will fix this issue at this time.

May 31, 2022 My check-engine light came on a few days earlier. I took it in to my automotive repair shop for a diagnostic to determine the issue. It was determined that cylinder #4 was misfiring. The coil was identified as faulty and replaced. Diagnostic cost: $149.99 Replacement coil parts and labor: $163.75 June 2, 2022 Check-engine light comes on again. automotive repair shop replaces the spark plug in cylinder #4 as a precaution, even though the spark plugs were less than a year old. No charge. June 6, 2022 Check-engine light comes on again. This time I mentioned to the mechanic that the car briefly misfires after it sits overnight. I could also smell a coolant odor. This was their -€œah-hah-€ moment. They removed the plug from cylinder #4, pressurized the coolant system and noticed coolant leaking into the cylinder. A phone call to Ford confirmed that this was an issue and the only repair; engine replacement. June 7, 2022 -€" June 17, 2022 The engine was replaced. Total cost: $6,543.59 While I waited, I scoured the Internet and did some research into this issue. I found that I am not the only one who has had this problem. This is an issue with the Ford 2.0 Liter Turbocharged engine, even at miles much less than my 121,958.

Ford Edge (2016) was experiencing a loud ticking/knocking noise during idling and after startup. A short period after the noise started the vehicle became disabled completely on the roadway. The vehicle is out of the five-year warranty period by a year, but still within the mileage period (currently has 46,700 miles, with the limit being 50,000). The 2017 model of the same vehicle has a recall for the same issue, but Ford is not acknowledging the issue for 2016 models.

Not having the vehicle for that long, I came across the check engine light that went off. The code that mechanics pulled was a misfire in a cylinder. I thought this would be an easy fix of spark plugs and plug wires. This was not the case. I spent $200 at a mechanic shop that said it was a fuel injector problem. This did not fix it because they would clear the code and it came back. They did further research and found out there is a Technical service bulletin report. TSB 19-2346. I took it to Ford and they gave me the print up of what needed to be repaired. Cost over six thousand dollars to repair. I was wondering why I had to buy coolant at one point as the level would drop. It was leaking into the cylinder. I would get the white smoke coming from my exhaust as well. My safety issue was that it would overheat and possibly catch fire from other cases I heard. The dealership confirmed the issue and they are well aware of the problem since 2019.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start smoothly and started rough. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that they could not replicate the failure. However, upon opening the hood, the independent mechanic diagnosed that the spark plugs were corroded, the engine block was fractured and leaking antifreeze, causing damage to the engine. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed the diagnostic test result. The contact referenced Ford Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-2346. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,800.

I am submitting this complaint due to concerns that others might start having the same issues that I am experiencing. My Ford Edge 2016 with just a little over 58,000 miles has a Timing Cover Oil Seal (MTCS), a Transfer Case Input Shaft Seal (FTCI), and the Axle Seal (FRAS) leaking. This is very sad that a vehicle with this few of miles has all these issues already. I am sure my Edge is not the only one having these issues. This vehicle does even leave hardball roads nor does it drove hard. I can't image what it would be like if I was rough on my vehicles. Jason
