CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Ford Edge has a trend of the engine dying while driving, which is typically considered a safety issue.

Owners report the stalling while driving problem is caused by the throttle body needing replacement. The problem typically occurs at low mileage & so the issue has been covered under warranty -- although by now, the 2015 Edge is generally past the full warranty period.

Internal water pump failer - the water pump on my vehicle failed and began leaking. This is my wife's vehicle and if I had not noticed the issue (which is not easy to notice) then the water pump will leak water into the engine and cause the motor to lock up or seize without warning.

Driving on the interstate at 60 miles an hour the vehicle randomly lost all propulsion and died, which caused an immediate quick slowdown and almost caused a 4 car/semi pileup. Causing me to hit the ditch to avoid being killed by a semi. Vehicle no longer starts. Appears to be a faulty flexplate that caused engine and transmission issues to which Ford has been no help. FORD has only recalled the 2017 edge 2.0 for the flexplate issues despite the same engine being used in the 2015-2018 models. Countless mentions of faulty flex plates in the model year range with the same engine but Ford refuses to address the mass issue.

The flex plate on the vehicle has broken twice within 10000 miles. This is most certainly a manufacturer defect. The vehicle then runs rough, has a loss of power along with transmission shifting issues and can nearly die or not accelerate properly while driving, leading to several near collisions which could result serious injury or death.

I was driving on highway and noticed a bit of rough engine noise, check engine light came on, and gas mileage dropped. I took 2015 edge to my mechanic who stated #2 cylinder was taking on coolant and engine needed to be replaced due to problems. He also stated his mechanic chatroom has numerous comments concerning this same problem with Ford engines. I went on CAR Guru chatroom and on 1st page there were 58 people complaining about the same thing from a year ago. Many found out there is a Ford TSB(Technical Service Bulliten) sent to their techs concerning this common problem causing engine replacements. Engine can blow the head at highway speeds and God knows what can happen. Do we need deaths caused by this before action is taken? PLEASE HELP!

Automobile was making a loud rattling noise. More noticeable at idle. The rattling noise then became loudest with start-up. Temperature gauge increased, but did not get to overheat as the vehicle was discontinued from driving. Towed to Kenny Ross Ford Route 30 @ Blackhill Road Adamsburg, PA 15611. Initial evaluation done by Kenny Ross Ford: Cracked Flexplate. Further evaluation is currently being done for further damage with pictures taken. This problem has been well made to FORD in 2015-2018 FORD EDGE models with technical service bulletins issued. Class action lawsuits are being conducted. There is no reason for a cracked flexplate except a manufacturer error. Communication has been poor with Kenny Ross Ford, as phone calls are not answered or voicemail messages not returned. Thank you.

Car purchased as a CPO vehicle with 40,318 miles. Soon after I had regular maintenance service on 3/27/21 at 47,350 miles the car began to drag and the wheel on the driver side had a harder drive. I reported to my Ford service Dept and finally got an appointment on 5/07/21 at 47,921 miles and they could not duplicate the car-??s reported actions. So thinking all was ok, I took a road trip stating at 48,500 miles and at 49,310 miles the engine light came on initial code 301 by auto zone power train problem. Called local Ford Service Dept their findings, code P0301 and P0316 and I need a Long Block, when I goggle it, it translated into a ENGINE. I decline and they gave me 1 spark plug and gallon container of antifreeze so I can get back home. And told me to check reservoir at every fill up. I put a little over 9,000 miles and this car needs a new engine, that-??s ludicrous. I did some research once I got home. For dealers received a month before they sold me this car a warning of engine problems where the antifreeze was going into the cylinders causing a misfire. I have an appointment with my local dealer, but from the way the car is acting the prognosis doesn-??t seem any different from the out of town Ford service dept. How can they do this and not inform the customer.

Engine light came on checked it with diagnostic reader at O'reilly's, indicated cylinder #4 was misfiring. Heater stopped working. Checked coolant it was very low. Filled coolant reservoir. Next time drove vehicle engine got hot. Pulled over immediately and checked coolant it was empty not leaking. Research indicates this is happening to a lot of people and could be very dangerous only fix is to replace motor. Ford Edge 2015

Noticed substance in garage coming from truck that was oily. Brought to my service center and it was concluded that there is an oil leak from the engine oil pan rtv seal. Apparently this is due to a lack of rtv adhesion. How is this not a recall? this is a major repair and expensive at that. I just want to understand more as this affects more than just my model and year Ford vehicle.

The flex plate/flywheel has now failed for the 3rd time in less than 2 years. This is confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership and still has no recall on this part that is clearly a manufacturer defect. The damaged flex plate has caused my 2015 Ford Edge to have a terrible rattling noise and causes concern for safety if this part where to break apart while driving causing the wheels or motor to lock up while in motion. Issue began while city driving

My 2015 Ford Edge has had the engine light turn on and off since April. After finding out that there is a misfire in the 4th cylinder, we replaced the spark pugs and the problem seemed to go away. However, about a month later, the engine light was back on and the car was have difficulty on cold start. Took in to Ford and was told coolant is leaking into the 4th cylinder and the only fix would be to replace the entire engine.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle would vibrate while at a complete stop without warning. He also stated that the vehicle would vibrate upon turning on the air conditioning. The contact took the vehicle to rockwall Ford (990 E interstate 30, rockwall, tx 75087) where he was informed that the flex plate fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a claim was filed. Since filing the claim, no further assistance was offered. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 100,984.

Flexplate cracked. Only 53,000 miles and requires a new short block engine replacement. The flexplate is noted to be a defective part from Ford. This should not happen on a vehicle with only 53,000 miles. The crankshaft, pistons, flexplate, torque converter and many more parts all have to be replaced on my vehicle. This issue could result in serious crash or even death.
