My car suddenly cut off, but not always the way. Like it was out of gas. I pulled to the roadside, engine still running but it would not go forward when I tried. I turned engine off and restarted immediately. It ran fine with the exception the warning light came on with a "wrench" picture in the warning area. I drove it home, it ran fine. Later restarted and drove it to the dealership. Wrench light did not come on, but check engine (picture of cars engine) came on.
Dealership said they would have to run a diagnostic to determine the problem. COST a ridiculous $124. Dealer said this cost would not be charged if covered by warranty. The test only showed code P0456, Purge Valve needing placed. No other codes. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. Problem still existed, wrench light came on engine. Technician said best guess would needing a THROTTLE BODY, no codes in system for Throttle Body, so could not guarantee that was the problem. It would cost me $800 additional to see if his best guess was right. I said no. Driving the car home, it cut off again. NOW WHAT DO I DO?
Yesterday I was driving my 2013 Ford to pick up my 7 yr old son and the car just shut off in the middle of traffic thank god the other cars saw that I was trying to make a left and waited for me to make the left. I've went to my car dealership and they told me that they could not do anything because they only do Dodge cars not Ford so I said but you sold me a Ford SUV and they told me that I would have to call Ford so I called Ford and told them the problem and they told me that their were no recall on this issue and not other Ford Edge consumers had complain about it. It seem like they want to wait until theirs a fatal accident before that do something about it not a happy costumer.
Has been an ongoing issue, engine shuts off at low speed (approx 20km/hr) mostly while slowing down. Despite it being a reported issue in the United States and Ford has taken steps to correct the problem. Apparently it is a defective fuel throttle body that they replace, they are doing nothing here in Canada.
Last time it happened was while making a left turn in a major intersection with oncoming vehicles approaching, myself and occupants where almost killed, fortunately I was able to put it in neutral, restart the vehicle, and gun it to go through the intersection before getting broad sided.
I brought the vehicle in today to the dealership for the third time to get the issue addressed, blank faces all around at the service department, nobody seems to be aware of this issue with this vehicle. After doing research it turns out to be an issue with several Ford models over several years.

On December 27, 2014 while driving from Virginia to Florida the engine suddenly without warning shut down while driving on Interstate 95. A low engine pressure light warning notice came on the display panel due to the sudden engine shutdown and the driver was frantically able to get the vehicle off the road and out of the way of oncoming traffic and onto the shoulder. The driver was able to restart the engine after putting the transmission into park and turning the ignition switch off and restarting it.

In July 2014, when driving the car down a slight hill and letting off the gas pedal, the engine hesitated and vibrated and started to shut down. The driver let the car coast for a short period of time before applying the gas pedal again at which time the engine began running normally again.
I was driving 75 mph on the Interstate and my engine begin stalling. The car slowed all the way down to 10 mph. I was in a construction zone at 10:00 at night with my children and luckily I was able to pull over in between the cones before the car just stopped moving at all. The engine light was on and the wrench looking picture appeared saying See Manual. I cut the car off and waited a few minutes before cutting it back on. I immediately got off the next exit and took the back streets as I was afraid of it cutting off on the interstate again. As I headed back home for the evening it cut off again luckily I was on a back road. When I took it to the dealer they charged me $95.00 for the diagnostic and told me the Throttle body was defected and this generally doesnt happen this soon on a new vehicle. The repair would cost me $600.00. My car is a 2013 Edge which I purchased brand new in September of 2012 and I paid damn near full price for my car (cash). Needless to say Ford told me that I was outside of my 36,000 warranty on my car. A brand new car should not have these kind of issues this soon. If this part was defected it should be taken care of. I recently checked the website and seen 28 complaints about this issue so why was there never a recall? This could have endangered me and my children. Slowing down so suddenly on an interstate couldnt possibly be safe. Not to mention this happened to me some months back. but when I took it to the dealer they told me they didnt show anything being wrong with the car. Something needs to be done about this. Ford is a joke. You were all in my face when I gave you my money, but now you dont want to help me with this defected vehicle???? I should have went with my first mind and never purchased a Ford vehicle. Ford (FOUND ON ROAD DEAD) was what I was always taught about a Ford vehicle. This was my first and last time EVER purchasing one of their cars............
