CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar” warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the wrench warning indicator flashed and the vehicle had a sudden loss of power. The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted to reset the code. The check engine warning indicator also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer issued a technical service bulletin, but there was no recall to provide a solution. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Travelling at 70 mph on freeway, yellow wrench shows and vehicle slows down to 2-5 mph very quickly. Unable to accelerate or steer. This is a very dangerous situation Ford needs to rectify. Taken to dealership and no error codes or recurring problem at dealership. This is also a problem as how do you have a massive deceleration and warning lights without an error code registering.

I was driving on the highway with cruise set a 70 mph. I felt the car jerk and looked down to see the orange wrench in the control panel. The vehicle immediately lost power and acceleration. I was able to move to the shoulder/coasting to get off a very large bridge. During this process I attempted to put the vehicle in neutral and try to restart it and it would not. Once I got the vehicle to the shoulder, I placed it in park and turned it completely off. After a minute or two I attempted to restart the vehicle. It started fine and ran fine the rest of the way to my exit...which was about 37 miles. (I did not use the cruise again) I immediately took it to O'reillys for them to check the code and there was not anything active or inactive. The also checked my battery, alternator and starter and found those to be in perfect condition. I've only owned the car 30 days so I will be contacting the dealership.

Had the car for a year and never a problem until now. My 2013 Ford Edge has 43,000 on it. My car will not start (battery is good). Sometimes will click but not start. Sometimes it struggles to start. Sometimes it starts, rattles and then shuts off by itself. I have read horror stories of this particular year of the Ford Edge. People losing power of car on major highways, cutting off unexpectedly!!! I'm terrified to drive my car. I have 4 kids who often are in my car with me especially now that it's summer time. After reading countless complaints about similar problems and worst, it's time for Ford to recall all these cars and figure out the problem before someone gets killed and they have major lawsuit since problems have been documented time and time again. I loved my car until I read all the problems and complaints. I want to get rid of it now but owe too much still on it. So fix the problem Ford!!!!! now.....

The brakes have failed on me 3 times now, the dealership claims the brake booster was bad and replaced it the first time, the second time claims it was a bad piston inside the break booster. The brakes failed once when a car pulled out in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes, the second time was driving normally and the third today after the front tires lost traction in wet grass. This makes it to were you have to push the peddle all the way to the floor and hope the car comes to a stop.the check engine light comes on every time you accelerate to hard (like entering an interstate) then will go away after a few days. The code that pops up for it is turbo/super charger under boost. This makes the car really sluggish and hard to get up to speed.

The engine will not start when the temperature outside is high (105+ degrees). During the heat of the day, engine will not start (no clicking, no sounds, nothing). Radio comes on, air comes on, I am able to change gears, roll down windows, etc. There are no issues in the morning or evening when the day is cooler. The check engine light does come on only when I am having the issue. Once car eventually starts, the check engine light goes off.

While on the freeway, my had complete engine failure and I had less then 20 seconds to pull over to the shoulder however everything locked up and I almost caused an accident. I let the car sit for 30 seconds and restarted the car. I took it to get looked at by 2 different service centers and they didnt find a problem. I drove it again, and it happened 3 times on the freeway from san diego to orange county. I had my car towed, did my own research and learned this is an ongoing problem with Ford Edges for my specific year. The manufacturer is not covering it. I am selling this car because I am fearful for my life and my baby girl that was in the car with me.

Sudden loss of power, no special environmental conditions, engine RPM dropped without warning to 400 RPM, car speed limited to 1 mph. Had to quickly pull off 45 mph, 4-land hwy. Thru heavy traffic to reach side street (no shoulder available). Engine continued to run - but no response to throttle pedal. Condition known as "limp mode". turned engine off, waited few minutes, started back up normally. Dealer unable to pull error code. However, research and complaints filed on-line show this is recurring problem with Ford electronic throttle body failure. This is definately a safety issue. Many other Ford models have had recall for defective etb's - but not my VIN. Sudden loss of power is indicated by "yellow wrench" indicator - but sudden complete loss of power is severe safety issue on roads without shoulder, or worse, heavy multi-lane traffic or narrow bridges. Ford accepted complaint - but refused extended warranty coverage - dealer charges for replacement etb installation were not subsidized by Ford. If Ford etb's have been recalled on other models, all etb's should be recalled. Severe, scary, reliability & safety issue.

2nd and 3rd cylinders in my 2.0 ecoboost engine are misfiring. Car has 63000 miles. Car shakes when idling and does not accelerate properly. Car drives at 6000 RPM when going 60mph on the highway. Car shakes and jerks when driving. Changed engine coils and spark plugs and that did nothing.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle's speed reduced and would only accelerate to 4 mph. A wrench warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. When the vehicle was restarted, it returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (pines Ford Lincoln located at 8655 pines blvd, pembroke pines, fl 33024; (954) 443-7000) where it was diagnosed that the electric throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 866-436-7332 and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. Case number: Cas12510115 was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Engine suddenly stalls while driving. Yellow wrench light comes on and there is no power when applying accelerator. Has happened while on highway (approx 70 mph) and surface streets (approx 30 mph). Pull over to the side of the road and turn off the engine. The restart was sputtery but came on and no more wrench light, the vehicle ran as if nothing happened. After taking it to a dealership was told problem could not be duplicated and no fix could be made.

The door sensors in this vehicle do not sense that the door is closed when it is. This leads to being unable to lock the doors while driving, it also causes the interior lights to remain on when the car is off even after the door is closed and the car is locked which drains the battery. Occasionally, the door will sense that it is closed after slamming it. This has led to an arm injury that I sustained when attempting to do this repeatedly from the inside of the vehicle. This is an ongoing issue and not a one-time occurrence.

While driving on the highway (doing 70 mph) my vehicle randomly stalled out. I was forced to coast to a stop, pull over, and turn my car off and turn it back on to begin driving again. It later happened an hour later at a stop light while making a left hand turn and then again at the next light on the road. After looking up possible problems, it was found that countless others with the same vehicle have the same stalling problem while driving. This creates a serious and dangerous risk for drivers on the road. I have an appointment to have the Ford dealership look at my vehicle, however from others who have spoken on their experiences with the same problem, the dealership states that they cannot "recreate the problem". thus sending the customer on their way stating that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Just 1 of the many forums where others voice the same problem. This vehicle must be recalled before a serious accident or death occurs due to Ford's negligence.

Engine control module-PCM. After 3 years of replacing/repairing items on my car, they now say that the PCM is the cause. I have replaced multiple sensors, catalytic converter, drive shaft, turbo, cooling system, and the list goes on. Had the PCM been diagnosed the first time my check engine light came on and replaced the sensor, I could of saved a lot of time. Every time I would go in, the diagnostic test would show 02 sensor which was replaced numerous times, then they would say catalytic converter, so on so on going down the list. I would get stranded on the highway because the car would completely shut down. Not one person in the past 3 years said the PCM was to blame. After a week of trying to diagnosis my car after once again being stranded on the highway, they are saying the PCM. The mechanic states that the computer module is on back order with Ford. The Ford rep states that they are selling them faster than they can be made. If this part is on back order (2 weeks) and can't keep them in stock, there seems to be an issue with the PCM for Ford. Everything that I have read states it is very hard to diagnosis a PCM but there needs to be a code that appears when it is faulty because this could of been covered under warranty 3 years ago but instead, I have paid a lot of out of pocket to get to this point of replacing the PCM. PCM in high demand with Ford indicates a red flag for this part and issue. Please review.

Twice now within two days, my wife or I have been driving along at 20-30 mph through the neighborhood and the vehicle has lost propulsion. I say this because the motor stays running, but doesn't accept input from the gas petal. Service wrench comes on, but vehicle diagnostics come back ok. Turn vehicle off, cranks up and drives fine. The interwebs says its a throttle body issue.

Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. Dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. Lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. Doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. It is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. Both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. This has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.
