CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

I'm not sure if it's electrical or the transmission. My car is not going on parking gear. The car don't start abs the shifter is not moving. My car shifter was on parking gear, but on the dash it's not showing it's on parking. My safety concern is that the car rolls (moves) even though the car is off, no keys in the ignition. It's on parking but on the dash it's not displaying thr it's on parking gear. I need to apply the emergency breaks to keep the car from rolling ( moving) if the emergency breaks goes off the vehicle is going to roll causing to crash. I removed the cover to see if there was something causing the shifter from not moving. Then I took it to the nearest auto repair. I explained the issue and concern. They state the the shifter cable needs to be replaced. I took my vehicle to a mechanic for a second opinion he said it not the shifter cable. I never had this problem until recently. There was no warning it just didn't want to start. Now it is not go on parking gear. And it only starts un nneutraland to turned it off. I have to put it on reverse gear in order to retrieve my keys. And the emergency break must be on if not the car will roll.
I have had several problems with my back up camera. My camera now is showing the picture upside down. As a [XXX], I am using this for safety and it is very distressing since this is one reason I purchased my Ford Vehicle. I see there has been a recall issued for some 2011 Ford Edge vehicles and wondering how I could get my VIN number added. I feel this is a serious issue for safety. Door latch sensor doesn-??t recognize that the drivers door is shut most of the time. This causes the dome light to remain on and makes it almost impossible to see to back up at night especially with the malfunction of the backup camera. Nothing has happened but as this is apparently a common problem with these cars I am super concerned that it could cause an accident or for someone or something to be ran over backing out of a driveway or parking lot.

My car will turn on the lights in the middle of the night, without anybody in it. Battery is continuously dead, even after replacing with a new battery. The alternator and starter have been checked and are good. The passenger door ajar is always on. When I lock the car with my key fob it honks twice and the lights inside the car remain on. The car will die while driving it, when I am at a stop light. The engine light will come on and the only warning that appears is passenger door ajar. Other Ford vehicles have a recall for these horrible issues and my vehicle should be as well. This is a major issue caused by Ford. Period. There is no specific date for this issue, it happens every single day since I have owned this 2011 Ford Edge SE FWD
Have had 2 boosters put in. Still have pedal fade or pedal stiffness. Also had HCU put in as well as Anti lock brake unit put in. Still have same brake problems. Also during this whole fiasco the new pads and rotors got destroyed with in 3000 miles of installation due to brakes locking up while driving and not releasing the pads. We have over $5000 dollars invested into brakes and still have a brake problem. I have call the 1-800 customer service number over 5 times asking to speak to a supervisor and have been told the will call back with in 24 hours and the have never called back. This is a huge safety issue as well as an out of pocket issue. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The interior dome light stays on and door-ajar light for the driver/passenger doors. I have opened and shut the doors gently several times and the light will stay on for at least 50 mins. Sometimes, the light pops on when the car has been sitting in park.
The door Ajar is not indicating door is shut therfore I am unable to lock door also dome lights remain on draining battery. I have tried cleaning out area it helps sometimes then goes back to not working. This is a safety issue for me and my kids as I cannot lock my vehicle and my vehicle will not lock making it unsafe while driving.
Purchased a FORD Edge 2013 on July 27th 2022, from day one, the door ajar light will not go off. We have shut the door, slammed the door, and it still stays on. This is causing the car alarm to go off randomly and the battery is getting weak. We have taken it to FORD and they want $500 to fix the issue. This should be a RECALL!!
My door ajar light keeps coming on and causing my interior lights to stay on for long periods of time. Today it finally drained my battery. Also when the door ajar light come on, I cannot lock my doors.
The driver door actuator is a serious problem and malfunctions putting my children at risk. I am unable to lock the vehicle doors because even though I close the driver door the car thinks my door is open when its actually closed also I am unable to enable my alarm system when this happens because again the car thinks the driver door is open when in fact its closed. I had an electrical mechanic look at it yesterday 4/22/22 and there seems to be many people having the same issue. I close the driver door and even though the drivers door is closed on the dash board it reads driver door ajar which is a serious safety issue to my children/passengers and possible theft of my vehicle.
When closing my front passenger door, the door ajar light remains on. With this, my doors will not lock creating a potentially dangerous situation where a person could open my doors if I-??m driving. I either have to repeatedly slam the door until it closes or just leave it as is, but as stated my doors will not lock. I do not want the risk of having someone opening my doors while I-??m inside, have young children open the door while in drive, or have someone break into my car.
I purchased my 2011 Ford edge limited 4/28/21...Every since this car has gave me hell. Both Cadillac converters keep going on, the heat shield is constantly rattling, and the switch to the wiper is bad.
When I start the vehicle the door ajar warning light goes on and will not shut off. When I shut off the vehicle the interior light stays on. When I am sleeping in the middle of the night my warning system goes off and the car beeps constantly until I hit the key transponder With key in my hand the automatic lock will not unlock unless I press the unlock button ( I changed batteries in both of my keys).
Rear left door ajar button constantly is lit up, even when the door is shut. This is causing the vehicle to keep interior lights on and even trigger the alarm to sound at times, causing the battery to die often.
Car shut off on a major high way. No power. Almost got hit by another car. Needed to be towed home. Ford dealership has had my car for 2 weeks with no help!!!!!
