CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Approximately the "door agar" warming light came on. No big deal, right? no, wrong, when this warning light comes on, there is no way to keep the doors locked while traveling in the car. This is very dangerous, kinda like not being able to wear a seat belt. So the first time this "door agar" light came on, the car was still under warranty and the local Ford dealer happily replaced the switch assembly at no charge. Now the car is beyond warranty and the"door agar" light is back on and the fix is several hundred dollars in repairs. This is a big safety issue for Ford Edge owners. Please consider a recall. The drivers side door is definitely closed. Car does not think so. Dash warning light is on. Dome lights on. When using the clicker to lock the doors the horn beeps a couple of times. Weird stuff. I do not know if this is going to cause safety problems or not. This Edge also has back brake problems. The back rotors and brakes have been changed twice already due to corrosion. Bad design. They get really hot and must be slightly in the braking position then until changed. Winter in Minnesota - salt and Ford's better idea. One more thing: When we change the temperature settings the computer things we want air conditioning. This causes the windows to completely fog over under certain conditions. I have had numerous talks with Ford motors about this safety problem. They do not get it and basically blow us off because of cost or lack of understanding. There are complaints filed.

The ajar light comes on indicating the door is not shut. We opened and closed the door numerous times but the door ajar light stays on. This also makes the interior dome light stay on. The most recent event occurred when we were traveling back home at night. The same circumstance happened. Opened and closed the door numerous times but the door ajar and dome light stayed on. It finally went off after 15 minutes of opening and closing the door. Took to the Ford dealer and cost me $500 to have the door latch mechanism changed. I googled and found this is happening to alot of Ford automobiles. In fact, the service advisor said that 2 more cases came in today as I picked up my car. Ford needs to pony up and do a recall and reimburse everyone for this high costs fix and design a better latching mechanism; "not military grade plastic".

"passenger door ajar" indicator intermittently comes on and requires several hard door slams to remove it. Aside from being very annoying, this is a potential safety issue for the following reasons; 1. when the door ajar indicator is on, the doors will not automatically lock and cannot be locked manually, 2. the interior dome light comes on and cannot be turned off. This is especially hazardous at night. 3. I have been told the airbags will not deploy if the door ajar indicator is on. This issue has apparently been a problem for several years for Ford and the problem has not been corrected. There are many posts and you tube videos addressing the problem. I plan to have the dealer replace the sensor, but I maintain that this is a safety issue and Ford should fix the device.

When the driver side door is shut, the drive side door warning light stays on. It will not go out until the vehicle is turned off. Once the vehicle is turned off, the interior lights stay on for several minutes. We have to check the vehicle periodically to be sure they turn off. When vehicle is parked outside and no one is near the vehicle, the alarm will go off intermittently. This happens during the day and at night. It seems to have started after the driver side door warning light started staying on. Our vehicle is out of warranty. When I called my local Ford dealer, they stated they see the problem with the driver side door warning light a lot but there is no recall on it. The repair can be as much as $500.
