CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Faulty door latch, drivers door. Door ajar warning light stays on when door is closed, because of this, the dome lights do not go off unless driving at a certain speed, but stays on when backing. This makes it extremely difficult and dangerous to do at night time because the lights blind you. The doors will not lock with the switch, you must physically push each door lock plunger down, which is difficult to do without crawling around.I replaced the latch the first time under warranty and now it has happened a second time only 13 months after the first replacement.

Driver side door remains "ajar". (door latch assembly) locks won't lock, dome lights stay on, can't lock car and lights come on randomly during the day & night. I have been told it is an ongoing issue that could cost me $500. If I can't manually lock the doors, the kids can get out while driving. Safety recall is necessary or trading in Ford! I have to put tape over my dome lights so I can back out of my driveway in the dark...I can't see!

Edge

The driver's side door continues to have a "door ajar" warning light on even when the door is closed. This causes the interior lights to stay on and then system to "bing" about the door being open when it is clearly closed. Not to mention the doors won't lock because of it and I don't know if the door is ever truly open or if the air bag will deploy. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed and fixing the issue should not cost owners $500!!

The drivers side front door latch sensor is faulty, thus the door ajar light stays illuminated. As a result, doors won't lock and cab lights stay on. This is a safety concern because children in the back can open the door freely. Ford has identified the problem with a tsb 14-0083 although will not recalled. Ford serviced the vehicle and replaced the latch in 2013. Problem has returned and lafayette Ford won't replace again.
