CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Door ajar light comes on, does not engage child safety locks. Takes repeated times closing the driver door for the light to go off. Vehicle was taken in once while under warranty, part was replaced. Still have the same problem as many others do with this vehicle.
Just after the manufacturers warranty expired at 36,000 miles the "driver door ajar" notification came on and will not go out. This is an extremely common problem and well known to Ford. Safety concerns are that the lighting will not go out and driving at night is severely hampered and the doors cannot be locked while the vehicle is in motion. The no-lock issue is a major problem while having children in the car...ie, granddaughter.
Dolor on driver side dont clase by beeper and alarm wont set. Afraid is damaged door look mecanism. Alredy changed 2 times before with warranty now expired. Alarm activated when door open cant drive car.
The door ajar switch no long senses that the door is closed resulting in a constant alarm on the dash board and the inability to lock the doors, potentially dangerous for children in the rear seat.

Door ajar lights come on when door is properly closed causing a draw on the battery. Needs new door latch assembly from Ford, not covered under warranty should be a recall.
After closing door, the dome lights and door ajar indicator on instrument cluster would illuminate. I would have to slam the door several times to get the dome light and door ajar light indicator light to extinguish. The problem is worse in colder weather.
The driver's side door sensor is not reading that the door is closed and remains on. This is the second time in a year that I am going to have the sensor replaced.
Door ajar light stays on with door shut. Dome light stays on so you are blinded at night. Cant lock doors so it is unsafe. Started doing it at 19000 miles. Ford would not fix it. Looks like thousands of people have the same problem.
Door ajar warning light comes on when door is fully shut, dome lights stays on and cannot lock car. I can open and shut it to turn off warning but then it pops on again.
I have had several incidents with the driver door ajar sensor which cause the inteior light to renaib O while driving or parking. I have cleaned the sensor a few times but it seems to become an issue.
The door sensor erroneously indicates door ajar. This prevents the door locks from actuating and allows children to accidentally open door when moving. Also the dome lights stay on at hours of darkness, impeding visibility.
Driver's rear door is giving the "rear door ajar" alert. The door is closed yet the alert stays on. It will cause the interior lights and the rear view mirror lights to stay on when the vehicle is turned off. I have been able to get it to go off by slamming the door, but this is getting to be a problem as well as it doesn't always go off and I have to turn the Edge back on then click "ok" on the alert that shows on the dash.
"driver door ajar" light will not go out when door is tightly closed. This keeps doors from auto-locking while ignition is on. Happened first time in June 2012, at 41K miles,4 mos after I bought certified used car. Door latch was replaced by dealer under warranty. It has been happening again now at 85K miles, August 2014. Also dome lights will not go out. Battery ran down last nite, could not start car this morning even tho dome lights went out at some point. I was in North ga mtns where there is no cell reception. Fortunately there was still one car at the site who could jump the battery or I would have been stranded there. I am a retired 69 yr old woman; it is not safe for me to drive without doors locked or for the battery to die when there is no reason for that to happen. There are many many reports of this problem on Ford Edge internet sites. Why hasn't there been a recall by Ford" are they waiting for someone to get hurt/killed" when I go to the dealership tomorrow, I anticipate a $400 repair estimate. I hope there is a better result than that.
The door ajar light remains on all the time, elluding to the driver's door being open, when it is not. Will not allow me to lock my doors when driving, making it unsafe and wearing down my battery.
At the above mileage the driver door sensor started to act up, it would not let me open the door by touching the handle so had to use the key fob to open it. Then when I closed the door it side the door was open so I opened it and shut it again, still the light didn't go out. This was a intermittent problem but has since never closed with the light going out. Told by my dealer that the sensor might need to be cleaned and it would cost me $190.
Driver's door latch reports door is ajar, which prevents car from locking doors when car is moving. Other side effects - can't use touch-lock features, lights are staying on after car is locked etc.
