CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Drivers side door ajar light is on at all times. It prevents the interior lights from going off. Which causes difficulty driving at night or backing up.it also causes the battery to go dead and locks are not secure on the door
Driver side door latch sensor stay on indicating doors is open even when it's already closed. Interior lights stay on and drains battery life leaving consumers stranded.
Front door ajar light will not turn off/stays on. Draining my battery this happened to my back door 4 years ago. However, at least I was still under warranty.
The door ajar light stays on despite all doors being closed. This in turn prohibits the doors to lock on the vehicle (while driving and parked).the dome light will turn on intermittently, this includes during night time driving and when parked - both creating major safety issues. Battery drainage - being left with an inoperable vehicle. Visibility - severe glare and limited visibility while driving in darkness. Personal safety - doors not looking creates a threat to personal safety (there is a reason car doors lock automatically within a few minutes of takeoff - personal safety). In addition to this, the backup camera went out at 50000miles. So disappointed!
The drivers door ajar sensor comes on all the time while driving and I can't lock the car doors while driving. Also the interior and exterior lights won't go out after parking and locking the vehicle. This has been happening for 3 weeks now.
The door ajar light for my driver's side door will not turn off. It's a safety hazard, as I have no idea if my door is closed or actually ajar and I drive on the highway often. I have an extended warranty I bought with my car, and was sold this as bumper-to-bumper everything covered besides the brakes and tires. The Ford service center wanted $450 to repair since they won't cover this under my extended warranty. They won't give me my car back without paying a $100 diagnostics fee. 10 seconds on google shows this is a common problem already being investigated by NHTSA. Please do not let up. This needs to be recalled, or covered under warrenty.
Lift gate is corroded and rusting in big chunks at the point where the lift gate and the rubber seal meet along the inside bottom of the gate. Also have rusting under driver side rear wheel well fender. Vehicle is within 36K and and very little adverse weather driving. Lift gate is now in danger of opening as corrosion is working its way to lock connector.
On Feb 5, 2015 as I traveled down the road my sunroof exploded. I was driving 55 mph under an overpass that was under construction at the time on smooth asphalt, but it was lunch time and there were no workers present nor any equipment in operation. It sounded like a shotgun went off in my car. I pulled over and got out and looked at my tires, fine. My windows, fine. Then as I stood next to my driver's side door about to get back inside, I heard splintering coming from the top of my car. I looked at my sunroof and it was spider webbing. There was a gap already gone at the front of the window. I went back to the roadway/apex under the overpass and looked around and found no rock or other item that I felt would cause such damage.
Door wouldnt latch. Got out of car to try and close door. Door handle fell off. But door latched. Got into car. Door was latched. Started driving door came unlatched and opened while driving.
Faulty door ajar switch - replaced door ajar switch in driver door at 39,500 and again 91,000 miles. Rear driver side door has produced the same issue and is now consistent for 1 month.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator illuminated and remained lit even though the driver's side door was closed. The contact stated that the interior lighting remained illuminated and caused decreased visibility while driving. The kingsville dealer was contacted, but was not repaired due to the diagnostic cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Updated 10/24/17 the consumer stated the doors would not lock while the driver was in the car, which could be a security issue. It could also cause the battery die. Updated 10/26/2017
Ongoing issue since 03/2017, car only has 64K miles on it. Door ajar light comes on and stays on when driver or passenger door is opened then closed. The dome light stays on while car is in reverse only turning off once car is in drive dangerous when backing at night. The bigger concern is none of the doors will stay locked when the car is in motion and this door ajar light is on. This light stays on about 90% of the time, opening and closing door over and over on occasion will turn it off.
On 2011 Ford Edge on the right front passenger door, a "door ajar" warning comes on and cannot be turned off, even when the door is repeated closed. After many tries, I have been able to get it to turn off. When it is on, the car interior lights stay on, leading to a dead battery, and issues with locking and knowing if the door is really closed. The "door ajar" light even came on once when the car was standing and door had not been touched
I bought the Edge brand new and when I was 1000 miles over my warranty my door ajar would not go off, so my inside dome lights stay on longer also until you hit the ok button on your steering wheel, then it will go off in a little while, I called the dealership and they wanted to charge me to look at it, I called Ford and they didn't want to do nothing either. I have never had any problems with my door on my vehicles in all my life. This has got to be a recall, this is the manufactures problem, because mine vehicle was'nt even a year old and I had this, hope this helps to get a recall.
