CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall - I was notified of this recall almost a full year ago. However, there has been no resolution. More often than not, there are passengers in my vehicle, and I (we) would like the reassurance of having this recall completed so that we know we are safe riding in this vehicle. I have called the dealerships a few times, and have been informed that the parts needed for this recall have not even been produced yet. Please let me know when I may expect this issue to be resolved.
Takata recall - received a letter today from Ford that the remedy parts have been delayed. The first notification dates back to June 2016. Ford's recent request to delay the recall failed, but now we are being notified that the parts are not going to be available at the timeline stated in June 2016 notice, with no firm timeline indicating when they will be available. Meanwhile, Ford is directing me to not use my passenger seat. This is not a timely recall repair, and it is leaving consumers limited in how they utilize their vehicles.
