The contact owns a 2018 Ford Ecosport. The contact stated while her daughter was exiting the driveway, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Additionally, the contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil pressure warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power. The driver was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the oil pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced the oil pump and test-drove the vehicle. The mechanic then informed the contact that the turbocharger needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to their location for diagnostic testing. The contact declined.
