I continue to have problems with the battery going dead overnight. The car will start fine for a month or more and then go dead. I've had it to the Ford dealership several times for the same problem but it's never been repaired correctly. As of today it's been at the Gabus Ford dealership for 9 days. I called them yesterday and they still cant find what's draining the battery. When I get it back I'm purchasing a battery backup to jump it so I don't get stranded again. When the car is running it's fine but it's totally unreliable. And I'm a Ford guy!

Update from Jul 23, 2015: Well another two weeks at Gabus Ford dealership and the car still isn't repaired! But, they gave the VIN number to Ford for research. Still no loaner! A total of four weeks in the shop in two months. No stars here!

Update from Sep 2, 2015: Got the car back after five weeks in the shop. They replaced the start up battery! So far the car has started fine for two weeks. SO it took them a total of 7 weeks to diagnose a defective battery.

Update from Nov 3, 2015: So now the car is starting and running but has developed a nasty shake rattle and roll from the front end of the car. Back to the shop it goes. Don't buy one of these! ERRRR

Dead/Not charging battery....this sounds like a CONTINUAL problem with the Ford C-Max....The battery in my car has already been replaced once and still does not charge correctly. I believe this is a major problem with the Ford C-Max. I have been told to make sure nothing is left plugged in over night, use of air conditioner could be a problem....when I bought the NEW car, I expected to get a NEW car. Not one that I could not do certain things with and if this was an issue I should have been told of the issues when I bought the car.

I was told they were new cars and the manager "was wanting to move them off the lot" Now I see why. With all the complaints, I think these cars should be looked at as LEMONS....and not to make the customer feel like they are stupid when it comes to knowing what is going on.

I have had other issues with this car as well....two recalls so far and one more coming up in November. The first issue was the phone(s) that I had would not sync to the car....and yes, there were on the list of compatible phones....I had to buy NEW phones. Tried to get the dealership then to trade me out vehicles...same type, just a different one....they would not do it.

I will list all of my issues separately, as stated, but someone needs to start looking at all the problems with the Ford C-Max.

We have really liked the C-Max, but have also had our share of problems with it. We had our battery randomly die at least 4 times. It's been replaced under warranty, however it is still acting up. Now we are out of warranty. :-(

3 times it happened overnight, once it happened during the day. After charging the battery with a plug in charger (we bought from an auto parts store), the car started and ran fine. No accessories were left on. IMO, It's clearly some problem with their computer system not shutting everything down properly under certain circumstances and continuing to drain the battery even after the car is shut down.

The battery is contantly going dead on this vehicle. I own two of the CMax Hybrids. The first one had this problem regularly until my husband started driving it to work (50 miles round trip), although with summer here we'll see if that one has the problem more often. The problem started when I bought the vehicle and continued through the first summer, Ford replaces the battery(as if that is going to fix the problem). I did not have the problem much during the winter months. Have come to the conclusion that because I used the heater during the winter the car does not go into EV mode as often so the engine being on seems to help the charging of the 12V battery. I only drive the car about 50 to 80 miles per week. As soon as spring arrived and I did not need the heater on the car drives in EV mode most of the time and the battery is constantly going dead. I took it to Ford dealer and there fix was to put in a new battery. I went to pick up the vehicle and had to leave it as the car was completely dead. I don't recall them telling me when I bought the car that I had to drive it a lot and make sure the engine was running enough to keep the battery charged. That would negate the reason for saving on fuel, especially since the engine really isn't very fuel efficient.

Update from Feb 19, 2016: Battery problems still exist despite being at the Ford dealership for six weeks last summer. They insist it is my auto start, even though I have had this problem from the beginning and did not install the auto start until after eight months. My husbands is still having the same problem. He tested the battery and it showed fully charged and then he heard a click and the battery discharged by half. I don't understand why Ford is not even appearing to try and solve this problem. I hope they fired the engineers that designed this car.

Bought this car new in late 2012. The first year the car was in the shop 12 times, four times for a dead battery. We heard every excuse from we left something on to a coolant pump for the battery.

In 2013 the car was in the shop 3 times for recalls and the battery went dead twice (dealer cannot find problem). We like the car, but reliability is an issue. If you buy a new car you expect some sort of reliability, but apparently not any more with Ford. We have tried to trade this piece of crap off on several occasions, but no one wants it.

The car is now three model years old, we have resorted to carrying a spare battery with us all the time. We have taken things in to our own hand, since this vehicle is out of warranty. We are working with a group to develop a battery disconnect and maintenance system for fix or make this problem more manageable.

BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD. CAR WOULD NOT START

This has happened 5 times already. Like many other 2013 Ford C-Max owners, this is happening all over the country and all of us FORD customers, keep on going to the dealerships with a car that constantly drains the battery and lets you down many mornings on our

way to work ( 4 work days missed already). I think its time for everybody to reach Lemon Law lawyers.

THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS MODEL. It has happened too many times, not only to myself, but to too many people. FORD is by now aware of this faulty car. Enough wasting our time and our money!!!

This car was brand new 2013 C-Max Hybrid I bought in Nov. 2013. To date 8/11/14, I have had dead battery for the 4th time. In May 2014 that Ford dealership changed the battery as they found something wrong.

I am so pissed at this and this should not be happening to a car that has a little over 17,000 miles. This is just one rant I have. The other is that they kept on advertising this model to get 47 miles per gallon. I'm lucky if I get 40 miles per gallon. I complained multiple times about this. Well, just in June 2014 they sent rebate to owners because EPA has decided they were doing ales advertising with their mileage. I've been telling them all along about this. I don't think I can trust Ford Motors and the product they sale. Beware! Bad thing is people who bought C-Max Hybrid are stuck with the problem. I can't wait for them to tell me something new! BTW...four of my family members have Hybrid Prius and don't have my problem.

I have owned this car for 1.5 years. I have had more recalls and problems than I had total in owning my last car for 9 years. The latest one is- coming out of work at 8:30 on a Friday night to find my car dead as a doornail. Called Ford Roadside Assistance, who asked great questions like, "Can you give me your VIN number?" Um...which part of sitting in a dark parking lot in a dead car did you NOT understand lady? When I told her no, she asked, "Do you know your last name?" Luckily, the guy who came to jump it was a little more reliable. He got there in under a half hour and was a nice guy. Said he had jumped C-Max's before. I wish I had asked how many times before.

I am reading of people having lots of issues with the battery. I can't remember if they replaced it once already as one of the recalls. In so many ways I love this car, and then something else goes wrong. I have had RA come out several times, 3 alone for the tires blowing out. (Not covered under manufacturer's warranty IF they were the original tires on the car...thanks Michelin)

They tried to tell me that having the cord plugged into the USB port, with no device attached, like it has been for the last year and a half, must have tripped something in the computer causing it to keep the car battery on. Such BS. All Ford does is lie. They keep sending checks for the gas mileage it doesn't get. What's next? I wish I could afford a new car that wasn't a Ford.

This is the similar situation to many others. 5 times now the battery has been dead after recently been driven. In all cases it was in cold weather but not nearly cold enough for this to happen. I think I have finally put together a common denominator.

Keep in mind that my local Ford dealer has replaced the battery as soon as 3 months after I purchased this new car. He has on other fixes checked everything electrical but he was sure he fixed it when he updated the computer which was to fix another problem. He was wrong again.

Common denominator? For me it seems to be the seat warmers. I don't use the seat warmers but my wife does. She usually keeps it dialed into the # 4 position. It never gets turned off till I drive the car. In every instance the battery was dead only after being driven by my wife. Nothing is plugged in and nothing was ever left on. I don't consider the seat warmers being left on because they should go off when the car is powered off. We have been watching this very close and have been very diligent about turning off the seats before turning off car. Last week when the battery died the seats had been left on................. coincidence?

I wonder if all the other problems with the C-Max battery could be associated with the seats.

Bought 2013 Ford C Max Hybrid in Spring of 2014. Recent road trip - 5000 miles - no issues.

Past week-end, car in home garage - battery dead; 10,500 miles. Called Ford roadside assistance for jump start; tow truck driver mentioned seeing similar issue on this model previously.

Have had the C-Max for almost 2 years and, overall, really love the car. However, I've had the 'battery goes dead overnight' syndrome. It's happened 4 times now...that makes its twice a year. Nothing has ever been left on, I'm very careful with this. I've had all the known software updates and a new battery (dead cell?).

After jumping the battery, the car comes to life...with the radio blasting and the heat/air fan on. Yikes, it has a mind of its own. I'm required to turn the car off again on again to finally get the green engine light. Latest occurrence I added a test. I backed the car out of the garage, parked it and removed the key (didn't drive anywhere). Later in the afternoon, the car was dead again.

Set up an appointment (again) with the local dealer and next morning I jumped the car and drove to dealer. They said the battery is slightly down so it's not the problem. Made a new appointment to allow dealer to have car all day/overnight....possible TSB about bad wiring harness? Anyone heard about this? Are there any Ford engineers out there? I have a friend in Maine that has the same issue with his C-Max and Google searches return many other annoyed C-Max owners. It's getting to be a real pain and I've started to lose trust in the car. Crossing my fingers the latest "fix" works and I don't get stuck next time on a trip in the middle of nowhere.

Car at the dealer for the 5th time to fix AM radio reception. They called for me to pick up the 'repaired' car (after 26 days). When I arrived - the car battery was dead (they did not know why; they just jumped it). The next day it was dead again. They claim the headlight switch was left in the wrong position. (It was NOT!!). Now 2 weeks later, it's dead again. (No switches in the wrong position!). That's 3 dead battery occurrences in the last month.

I am sick of calling roadside assistants to have this car towed at this point it has been in the shop a total of 25 days. Now it is the electric cooling pump coming on after the car is shut off. I think they are on a witch hunt. I refuse to jump the car myself because being a new car I should not have to nor should I have to have a tow truck on standby. This car is a lemon. I wanted to add satellite radio but am afraid that it will put an additional draw on the battery and for will then say its not their problem any more. Good luck eveyone as we all seem to need it.

Battery has died at least 5 times over the past year. Get up in the morning and car won't start! How can Ford justify selling a new car to someone when they can't guarantee it will start! They have replaced the battery twice so far, each time saying they have resolved the issue.

I liked the idea of this car but no use enjoying the cost savings when the car may not even start.
