This vehicle, and others of same model and year, have chronically weak braking. Have discussed it several times with dealer; no remedies offered. Nearly unable to stop at moderate speeds much of the time. Seems to get somewhat better after repeated usage. I consider it to be unsafe with normal driving practices.
While driving the vehicle consumer tried to make a sudden stop by depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle continued to travel, lost control, resulting in a crash/injuries.
The brake system wears out every 9000 miles or so. Had entire brake system from rotors/ pads and shoes and calipers replaced. Changed at least 4 different times. Took to dealer each time for brake repair.

Brakes started scrapping and making noise, the inside pads on front were grounded into the rotor, metal against metal, dealer contacted and cannot duplicate the problem. Consumer made repairs, contacted manufacturer and they cannot duplicate the problem.
Whenever brake pedal is pressed downward to slow or stop vehicle, it would not stop. Vehicle would coast, instead. Took to dealer & service manager said that the brakes had faded. The brakes were a constant problem. Had the brake pads replaced, but the problem was not solved.
When the brakes are applied they grab. The rear brakes release, causing the front brakes to do all of the work, resulting in extended stopping distance. The dealer has replaced the rear wheel cylinders and the power booster. The dealer has been made aware of the existing problem.
Driving at approx 55 mph went to push brakes, pedal went to floor, no brakes, no rotors. Had to pull emergency brake in order to stop. There was no warning. Mechanic repaired vehicle, replaced all new brakes, new rotors also replaced.
Anti-lock brake light comes on spontaneouly when depressed, brake pedal locks up/grabs, causing ABS failure, extended stopping distance. Dealer has not duplicated problem, no corrective action taken.
