My engine keeps misfiring all the cylinders and I have changed multiple cylinders. While the vehicle was in motion the lights on the inside illuminated and the vehicle stopped in traffic. The engine light came on and I took it to get the codes read and it said P301, P302, P303, P304. I have got this fixed multiple times because it keeps happening.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph that the vehicle misfired and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated he diagnosed that the cylinder failed. The contact was able to locate the extended warranty online on the cylinder covered up to 150,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (adams Jeep of Maryland Inc, 3485 churchville, aberdeen, md, 21001) where it was diagnosed and confirmed that the second cylinder had failed and was included under the extended warranty, also that the cam shaft failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and confirmed the warranty for the second driver cylinder head, however stated that the cam shaft was not covered under warranty, and by coincidence they both failed at the same time, no further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Grand Caravan

  • 133,000 miles
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle would restart however; it failed to shift gears. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (brown-daub Inc, 3903 hecktown rd, easton, pa, 18045) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure under case number: 32110215 and due to the vehicle being over 100,000 miles it no longer was covered by the warranty as a result no further assistance was offered. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to the dealer a total of three times due to the contact experiencing difficulties in shifting gears. The failure was unable to be duplicated. In addition, the contact mentioned in October of 2015 the engine had to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

When the vehicle is in drive but is stationary, everything will turn off. The electrical system goes down and the engine shuts off. After a brief moment (approximately one to two seconds), the electrical system will come back up and all electronic components come back on, but the clock on the radio is reset to 12:00. At this point, we can put the vehicle in park and restart it. This has occurred several times in the past several weeks. The most recent occurrence was 2017.07.07 and it did it twice within fifteen minutes. We do not know for sure what is causing this to occur, but it seems to be connected to the main computer and/or the anti-theft system, as this is a complete system shutdown.

The temperature gauge on my van would fluctuate between normal and hot while driving anywhere and at any speed. The courtesy Dodge dealer in conyers, ga said there was no problem with the cooling system, just some air that needed to be removed. A few days later the same problem occurred. This time the dealer said it was a bad head gasket on the right side of the engine. I had to have both left and right side head gaskets replaced at an independent auto repair shop for $1500!. the mechanic said he sees this trouble all the time with the 3.6L pentastar engine I have. He said there should be a recall on the problem. There are only 111,000 miles on the engine and its only five years old!

My 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan showed a check engine light at 67,000. I checked the code to fnd out P0303 is a engine misfire. Could be ignition, plug, or valve-cylinder compression. I had the engine serviced and the light goes out. The next day the light comes back on. I return the vehicle for service to investigate the check engine light. Further investigation reveals there is a bad compression on cylinder 03. I take the vehicle to Dodge and they could have told me up front that the right cylinder head is not covered under the extended warranty from Chrysler. They take my car into service and find a leak on cylinder 04 also. They gong to replace the left cylinder head but not the right cylinder head with the same identical problem. I am looking at $3500 if I choose to replace the right cylinder head. This extended warranty should cover the defect no matter which cylinder head is defected. My wife loves the car. She wants another one. I told her that because of this issue we would be right back here in 4 years with another 3.6L V6 pentastar engine. I am torn. Do I trade the issue back to Dodge and get a 4.0L V6 pentstar. I have almost paid it off. This sux great times flushed down the drain because of a engine defect. I love it but I have leave it. Toyota here I come.

The vehicle just stalls while driving. This was the case yesterday and today. I have to put it back on park in order to re-start the engine. The latest instances are not the first time we experienced this problem. My wife reported it at least a couple of times. The dealership once told me that was probably caused by the weight of the key ring and with other things attached to it. Since then, I make sure to drive with only the Dodge key on the ignition, taking down all everything else from the key ring.

My daughter made an attempt to start the vehicle, one night after community theater rehearsal, to drive home and found the vehicle would not start and she heard random relays chattering throughout the vehicle, had the windshield wipers move, the instrument panel lights flickered on/off along with displaying error codes of: "no fuse" and "no bus". the fuel pump could be heard running, even with the key off and she said the van acted like it was possessed. Based on online information, I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which was listed as a top culprit in the problem and that solved nothing. Further research indicated the tipm unit is most likely the cause and we found that her make/model of vehicle is part of a lawsuit for this problem.

After engine was inspected debris was found in the engine and mechanic thought it necessary to replace the engine. Looked up recalls and the pennstar was being recalled for cylinder problems on the right side of engine. My van is only 3 years old and have had to replace the battery in Sept 2015. It's mid November and now I'm having trouble with the battery dying frequently. I went to where I purchased the battery from and they checked the battery and said it's fine. The motor ranks without starting 2-3 times before finally starting. I believe this is because of the fuel pump or fuel pump relay. The relays chatter a lot and the fuel pump sounds much different now than it did when I purchased the vehicle. It's as if the battery is being G drained slowly because of either the fuel pump or fuel pump relay or both. I am a certified aircraft and auto mechanic with electrical troubleshooting capabilities. I have yet to approach the Dodge dealer with this because it has only happened twice so far with me being at work while my wife has had to deal with this issue both times so far.
