I bought my dodge caravan in november of 2014 and by december of that year it was having problems starting. It was taking many times to turn over the ignition to finally get the car going. well in november of 2015 finally it would turn it over to start but would not it would just keep on going with the sound as if it was going to start. We were thinking it was just a sensor in it that was bad because the van was a 2011 model so there should not have been anything else wrong with it. I mean come on it did not even have 60,000 miles on it yet. We had it towed and come to find out that it was the tipm fuel modulator that was out on it and that it was going to cost us almost $1200 to get it fixed the auto repair even said it was ridiculous that we already had to put that much money into a van that is not even four year old yet. Then he informed us that alot of these vehicles are having these problems because the part is actually on backorder. They could only find one and it was clear in Harrisburg, PA. We live in Burnham, Pa. This is just insane especially when you still are paying on the car and they you are putting that kind of money into it within a year for a part that you should not have to be putting into it. this part should be recalled and be fixed for free for these vehicles

6 mos after I purchased the vehicle, my cylinders misfired and had them replaced 2 times. Then my back up camera completely quit working, my back windows no longer function and are stuck open. Now my car is no longer functioning after it has stalled numerous times on the hwy! Every day it takes over 30 tries to start at which it finally quit!...I am only halfway thru my loan, Dodge only offered half of that for trade in value...I NEED HELP!!!

What I thought to be a battery issue began in July 2015 while I was at Myrtle Beach on vacation. We had to have a tow company come and jump us. The guy told us it was the alternator. We came home and began having issues with our fuses blowing. We would change them and they would continue to blow. Then the van starting not working again and would continuously need to be jumped. We purchased a new battery and the van still continue to have issues starting.

We took the van to our mechanic and he changed the sparks plugs and told us the problem is the TIPM module and that Chrysler had a recall on this issue for my vehicle. I've called two local dealers, one has told me there is no such recall and the other told me yes there is a recall but that it would be a 4-5 month wait due to the parts being on back order. Now my car needs to be jumped every day to start and the past two days will not start at all and has a warning on the dash that says "no fuse." I am very upset as I have no vehicle and need it for my job and to run my children to their activities.

This was a very expensive repair. The van had trouble starting. It started with needing to try to get it to start two or more times. It was intermittent and got worse. First I went to Canadian tire. They suggested a battery. I didn't get one because there was plenty of crank as we would try to start it sometimes 10 times before it would turn over.

They then suggested spark plugs.I did those since the van was due for some soon any ways. The problem still persisted so I brought it to the dealership. They had no clue. Had trouble replicating the issue since at that time the starting problem was very intermittent. I paid $300 or more dollars for some service flashes to update the software in the van. What a total bullshit charge that was. Still didn't help. They said they didn't know what else it could be an because it wasn't throwing a code they couldn't do much more. They suggested we keep using it until it threw a code and the check engine light came on.

We kept driving it and the problem got worse. It became more frequent and took more tries to get it to start when it did occur. It also started to stall after starting. It stalled once while doing 70km/h.

Finally it refused to start one day. I paid $70 to tow it to the dealership. They replaced a crank sensor they thought was faulty (another $200 or $300) but that didn't fix it and finally suggested a new TIPM.

Cost for the part was about $1200 and they knocked it down to a little over $900. It took over a week before the car was fixed. Labour was a couple of hours I believe.

It was a the fuel relay. A simple by-pass of the fuel relay would have fixed the issue. I found this fix on youtube video. I wish I had found it before I spent so much $$$ on this issue.

Once i researched the TIPM issue I found that there is a class action law suit in the US and that Dodge has recalled many other vehicles that use the same TIPM but have not extended the recall to the Dodge Caravan. I hope another class action gets started in Canada. This is a known issue with serious safety concerns since the van will stall at highway speeds.

It's too bad because I loved this van until this issue arose. Now I will never buy a Dodge again.

My car would turn over and the starter would grind and make the noise for long periods of time, but started after a few tries. I took it to the shop and they computer diagnostics said it was either the starter or the battery. Replaced the battery for free because it was under warranty. After a few weeks later, the same thing happened but it wouldn't start at all. It would turn and make the starting noise forever. I had it towed and they said it was the fuel pump. I had it replaced, but it would still happen, but it would eventually start.

Today, my car went dark. It will not start, the brake is locked, my key is stuck in the ignition and it is totally no responsive. I am having a tow company come out to take it back to the shop.....

I kept the old fuel pump. I will now suggest the TIPM issue that I read about in other complaints.

Replaced battery, next day dead. Had alternator checked, then heard fuel pump still working with engine off. Had a garage do a diagnostic of my van. The fact is the TIPM is the problem. Went to the dealer who I bought it from and they want to charge me $616.92 just for the part. That's not including labor! I'm a disabled veteran living on a fixed income and still owe on the car!

Having all kinds of problems with 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. It is extremely hard to start and some days won't start at all. It has said the key is in the ignition when it isn't, then the key was damaged when it wasn't. The fuel pump will stay running when the car is turned off and has drained my battery. I have had to replace my battery. It has stalled while I was on the freeway twice, thankfully my three kids were not in the car and I was not in an accident. My tire pressure sensor stays on even though the tires are at the appropriate pressure. There are no error codes or lights....the dealership told me this means there is no problem...even with the video of the problem happening (and somehow even though I experience this on a daily basis they could not replicate the issue). .

We started having issues this past spring when once in a while turning the key would just turn the engine over never starting, the van would idle roughly and when taking off would almost stall and then be correct. Once in a while a yellow check engine would turn on and disappear but without any codes registered.

This morning on the first day of school it would not start, turning the key and the engine would just continuously turn over without ever starting. After 10 minutes I stopped got out of the car got my wife's keys went back in and it started up. It idled roughly for about 2minutes but then everything came back to normal.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning but with the symptoms I've been reading here, it pointing towards this whole TIPM issue...

Update from Sep 15, 2015: Went to the dealership, mechanic seems convinced that it is an issue with the communication between the crank and cam sensors. They are picking it up today to confirm if this is the issue.

Update from Jan 13, 2016: We ended up changing the fuel pump, it seemed to fix the problem, but being fed up with so many problems and always being nervous about unreliability I got rid of it before anything else came along.

I drove my van to the grocery store and came out to go do another errand and the van wouldn't start. It started fine when I left home. So, I called AMA to come and give me a boost... he tried boosting and said he didn't think it was the batter. Then he tried to start it a few times... the guy said that it sounded really weird like perhaps the starter was going. Really? It's a fairly new vehicle. It started after about 10-15 tries. I drove it straight home because I didn't want to be stranded without being able to get home. Then went on line and realized that this is a HUGE problem and one that Dodge apparently hasn't dealt with. I was sorry to hear that perhaps the problem is the TIPM. I guess I'll be phoning the dealer next... How frustrating!!! We do have another vehicle but I have 3 children and pick up 3 other children from school. Not sure what I'm going to do. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM in my mind.

If you turn the key the starter keeps trying to start car. If you turn the key to off and try again, some times the vehicle starts and then stalls. It has taken as many as five time to get the vehicle started. Took the vehicle to Dealer and was told it would cost $1,053 to replace the TIPM Module. At this time we have not had the vehicle repaired. We had another problem with the cruse control and it took four trips to the dealer and cost several hundred dollars for the repair.

Our van had failed to start on several occasions, but we could never duplicate it for the repair technician. What finally worked was that the fuel pump stayed on after the van was turned off. The technician then was able to determine that the TIPM had failed. We had to drive it for several days pulling the fuel pump fuse when parked to ensure the fuel pump didn't stay on and drain the battery while we waited for the new part to come in. During this time the van completely failed to start and needed to be towed in for repairs.

We now have a new updated TIPM installed and today a week after it was replaced the van failed to start.

This issue is beyond annoying, frustrating and expensive.

Chrysler settled in court to pay to fix this known problem but only for Durango and Cherokee owners.

This TIPM issue affects all Grand Caravans, Town and Country, and 300's. Being stranded with a vehicle that wont start or fuel pump that won't turn off is one thing but considering this TIPM controls all electronics I'm wondering when Chrysler will correct all of these faulty TIPM's. Do we need someone to be injured or loses their life when this unit fails while driving before it is fixed?

My window had not been working for several weeks on the driver side! The stupid tire pressure light would not turn off, even after getting my tires pumped with air. THEN one morning my car just was not starting! I would turn and turn and turn and it wouldn't start until after 4 turns. At first this was happening in the morning, then it started happening in the middle of the day. I carry dogs in my caravan, and on hot days when i can't role down my window, and the car doesn't start, I don't even feel safe!

When I first got the car, there were problems. I had the problem starting the car and was told it just had a bad battery, so I needed it replaced. NOW, I am once again, exactly 1 year later, l am having the same issue that has not been resolved! My car is in the shop as we speak, and they are expecting me to pay all of this money, to fix this device that looks like it is a universal Dodge problem! The Total Integrated Power Module and the lack of the dealership owning up to the recall, has me baffled.

Update from Oct 1, 2015: My Dodge dealership was able to get my secondary warranty company to cover the cost ($1347 minus $100 deductable) and have the TIPM replaced. The Dodge warranty would not accept it. Chrysler needs to recall all these faulty TIPM modules.

Had begun having some intermittent problem starting, sometimes it would take 2-3 cranks before engine would start. Then on 8/28/15 it would not start at all until it was jumped. It then started & ran fine for a couple days, but then on 8/30/15 I discovered that the fuel pump continued running when the engine was off thus draining battery. At first, the vehicle would not start again on 8/31, but after some time it did & I got it to the dealer. Diagnostics showed the TIPM had a short causing the fuel pump to be erratic in its run & it was draining the battery.

On-line research disclosed this was the same issue responsible for a Chrysler recall, but since my VIN# wasn't listed they flatly refused any possible reimbursement for the repairs, involving TIPM & battery replacement. That stinks. Further on-line research revealed others having same issue had filed a Class Action lawsuit against Chrysler. For more than 50 years I've shopped & bought Chrysler products - that is about to change.

We have had our van now for almost 2 years with no problems. In mid-august, my wife was taking my daughter to marching band practice at 5 am. She told me that as she was going through an intersection, it just stalled on her. Thankfully, it was only 5 am and not during rush hour. Being the skeptical guy I am, I though maybe she had hit the key somehow and shut it down. Then it happened to me and I was nearly rear-ended. I checked it out and didn't find anything, but from that day forth, it became hard to start at random times. Sometimes when we turn the key, the ignition will crank, but the engine won't start and we'll have to turn the key off to make it stop turning over. Other times, it will attempt to start, or even start, then immediately stall. Eventually, and sometimes after 8-10 attempts, it will start and run until the next time we park it.

Ever since I checked it out, i have noticed that, at times, you can't hear the hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key, while other times it doesn't seem to stop making noise. Just this morning, I left to go to work, only to find that the van won't start. Apparently, one of the other obvious signs of a bad TIPM is the occasional dead battery....caused by a fuel pump that the TIPM fuel relay fails to shut off.

During our research into our problem, we have found that the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokees, all of approximately the same year model, have had recalls due to a faulty TIPM. The faulty TIPM's have been the cause of many bad crashes, which we have been lucky enough to avoid so far. The faulty TIPM's have also been linked to fuel pumps burning up from constantly running, batteries being drained, and many other electrical parts being replaced. All of these "symptoms" that originate in the TIPM, as proven by the recalls for Durango's and Grand Cherokee's. Why exclude other models, that are obviously showing the same symptoms? Good hard working people are throwing away hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in unnecessary repairs for something that Chrysler should take care of anyway. I would like to think that this won't take a few fatalities for Chrysler to do the right thing.
