This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Unknown All outboard seatbelts are not retracting. When inspected further there are cracks in the plastic holding the seat belt up and they retract fine behind that. All 4 seat belts will need replaced to work properly.
Passenger side 3rd row seat belt does not retract. Both outboard seats in middle row must be manually retracted and drivers seat belt is becoming sluggish to retract and needs to be manually retracted at times
The driver-€™s seatbelt will not retract. Should I get into an accident or need to slam on my brakes, by seatbelt will not lock in place as it should. Due to this malfunction. This is a serious safety issue! Seatbelts are suppose to save lives, but how can it, if it-€™s not working properly"!?!? I contacted Chrysler/Dodge regarding this, they told me there was no recall. Which is shocking, since there have been other complaints regarding the same issue. I was told to have it diagnosed by a car dealership then it would be fixed. Not sure if I would be reimbursed for the cost of repairs or how that-€™s suppose to work. But are they also going to pay for my lost day of work wages, to take it into the repair shop?! Then to take it back for the repairs" I highly doubt that. I believe something this concerning should-€™ve already been deemed a safety recall.
My front passenger seat belt no longer functions properly. It doesn't retract, which means that it doesn't provide adequate protection to passengers in the front seat. I have not taken this to the Dealer for inspection, however I have tried to fix this and am unable to get it to work properly.
The third row seat belts no longer retract and have the same issue that my front driver and passenger seat belts had. Those were both fixed under an extended warranty, but the rear belts which appear to have the same mechanism and same fault (crack in the plastic) were not included.
The front passenger and third row passenger seat belts are locked and unusable. I can't have anyone sit in the front seat as it is locked at a position that it will not click in and will just dangle. The third row passenger seat belt also will not retract or come out.
Driver side third row seat belt will not retract. It came out and stayed out all of the way. It is unusable. I've tried everything to get it to go back in.
The second and third row seat belts have cracks like the recall to the front driver and passenger side seat belts. Dealer said current recall does not include the other rows and it is dangerous for both children, car seats and adults when riding as passengers. Cost just for the third row is quoted at $1,300. I have 2 daughters that I do not feel Safe in the car in the event of an accident.
As I was getting in my car I notice the passenger side headrest was apart/deployed without any accindent. Also having issues with the passenger seat belt not retracting.
A passenger seated in the third row drivers side seat extended the seatbelt to fasten. Once we were in transit, the passenger leaned forward, causing the belt to extend. When they leaned back into seat, the belt did not retract. Upon trying to get the retraction to engage, the seatbelt became fully extended and would not retract, putting passenger safety at risk. We were able to stop the vehicle without further incident to address. Upon inspection, it appears that part of the mechanism behind the interior panel is broken. We were able to move the passenger to the other rear seat position since the vehicle was one seat short of being at passenger capacity. We will have the belt evaluated by the dealership upon returning from our travels. This is the first instance of the issue in this vehicle, however based on consumer feedback research, this seems to be a common issue in this year/make/model of vehicle.
We had problems with the driver seat belt we had dealership look at it and there were no recalls. We had it replaced. NOW the passenger seatbelt will not retract - there should be recalls for my vehicle as I have seen where other Dodge Durango-€™s had recalls for the same issue. I cannot transport anyone in my passenger seat until it is fixed. Highly disappointed - we have a Dodge Durango - Chrysler Van and Dodge Ram - we give our business to these brands and the seatbelts are not under recall when they are failing to restrain people. This should be covered under recall!
This specific model I'm currently leasing is a limited model. I've had it for maybe 3 years. According to the manual, were only to use E85 fuel so that it could run smoothly. Unfortunately, not many gas stations where I live carry that specific gas type and not many gas stations in Florida and other states alone, provide E85 fuel we are given no choice but to use the alternative gas. It's becoming a nuisance when we want to travel. When the check engine light first appeared the gas gauge also stopped functioning. The truck isn't able to reach a full tank. Something is preventing it. This is becoming an inconvenience for me and my family to have to search and go to just 2 gas stations miles apart from each other to be able to put gas in! majority of the times the gas stations that do offer this type of gas are down due to maintenance. Since I've been puttting in the alternative fuel which is the 87, the truck isn't functioning properly and now I'm starting to have all sorts of problem with my truck. It's a headache. I really love my truck and don't want to get rid of it. I had a mechanic check it out and was told that my my fuel injector and fuel sensor need to be replaced. The costs are expensive and I don't think it's fair.
Front seat belt retractors have locked making them unusable. I am the only owner, no accidents and 81000 miles. Dealer says not covered under warranty and cost to repair is over $600 each. This is a noted issue on the same year Jeep too. This should be a recall item. My car is child free also. This is unsafe and should not be occurring,
