My fuel tank will over spill every time I fill it up So usually I only fill it up half way because I don't like smelling like gas.Ive been complaining about this for years and I don't understand how it has not been recalled ...Recently they've been sending me a recall notice for my the airbags but whenever I call to schedule an appointment nobody answers or they don't have the part and they put on a list and never call me back. I'm about to go to the news with this story. I wish I had the time.

The auto stop at the pump doesnt work - and no, its not the gas stations problem otherwise its an epidemic that is following us to each station... Gas is just thrown right at you and you even get to pay for that gas - plus..... What can we say.... Dodge owes us new shoes, a few pairs by now.... and probably a rear panel on the truck from rust that is probably creeping through. oh and a new shirt and pants from one time would be great. Did I forget to mention I would love for my vehicle to be fixed?

I bought this car a couple years ago. At first the gas leaking out did not happen if we had the attendant put it on a slow fill. Now though this is a big problem. Every time no matter what it spills an abundance of gas back out every time I fill up. This gas gets all over the paint and ground. No matter where I get gas, they don't appear to be to happy with me. My research shows that there is currently no recall on the 06 models.

WHEN FUELING THE PUMP CLICKS OFF THEN GAS SPEWS OUT THE FILLER NECK NOT JUST AT ANY ONE GAS STATION BUT AT SEVERAL WHICH HAS CAUSED THE PAINT AND CONSEQUENTLY THE BODY PANEL RIGHT BELOW THE FUEL CAP TO RUST OUT

gas pukes out of the tank when it gets full. pump shuts off, but a cup or more of gas pours out the filler neck. bad enough I don't even fill it all the way up any more. it happens if you try to sneak up on a full tank too, no matter how slow you put that last little bit in the tank, when it's full, gas is coming back out. It has happened since I got it, and apparently before I owned this vehicle as well - the paint below the filler had lifted before I bought the vehicle. now there is a rust hole there below the filler, just like almost every other 2006 Durango in this area. no other rust anywhere on the body.

I agree with the last post - this needs to be recalled by Dodge. Every week, as I fill up my gas tank, I lose about a gallon from it spewing out of my gas tank when it reaches the top. I took it to get repaired and was told there was no fix for it & that I basically had to just trade my car in to be rid of the issue. I really am starting to think that all people generally suck - is there anyone honest anymore?

The car in general is a POS, though. I just paid it off in May of this year & planned on keeping it until the wheels fall off -but the way it's going, that won't be very long.

Every time I fill my tank. The nozzle doesn't shut off, and gas goes all over me and the ground. Not to mention on the paint of the car, can't be good for the paint. I figure Dodge owes me hundreds of dollars in cash for all the fuel that has gone on the ground, and not used by the car. Dodge has to recall this car, this is there problem to fix not mine!!! Also it is not good for the environment at a gallon a week on the ground.

For two in half years every time I would try and fill my tank the gas pump would click off and spray gas at me. The tank wasn't even full. It would click off every couple of cents. I called the dealership but there wasn't a recall on the 2006. It would of cost up to $1000.00 in repairs. It didn't make sense to me so I never brought my vehicle in. I don't have that kind of money to spend so I lived with it. I felt the dealership should present their consumers complaints to dodge and fight for us, after I read on the internet that many consumers were dealing with this same issue. I had a friend do a free computer analysis on my durango because the engine light started coming on. He told me it had to do something with my gas tank. This summer I figured out with a couple of buddies of mine after we started tearing down the parts hooked up to the gas tank to see what the problem is. We found out there is some kind of filter on the driver's side of the wheel and the neck of the tank. It's a round black thing that looks like a plastic solenoid. We took a compressor and blew out all the dirt out of it. I had more than a handful sand sitting on the driveway. I live on a dirt road so it must of been a couple of years of dirt building up in the filter (I want to call it a breather) not sure what it is called. Put the parts back together and filling up my tank has been just fine. No back splash and what took me 20 minutes to fill my tank is only taking me a couple of minutes now. Hope this helps other consumers.

The gas tank overflowing because it doesn't click off when it's full seems like a common problem. Should be a recalled item.

Dodge obviously still has the same issue with 2006 Dodge Durango gas tanks as they did with 2005 and refuse to RECALL. This started a year ago periodically, now its every time I try to fill the tank - I and the car take a gasoline bath!

I called the Dealer who said to call Corporate. Corporate made me get a case number and go back to the dealer for a "diagnosis" (within 3 days or it would be filed away). The dealer had bad news (surprise!). I'm out of warranty and tank needs replacing at cost of $1600! I said no way in hell would I pay that!! It's not normal wear and tear. They said they would split it with me and again I said no. I advised they better check into it with corporate that I would take further action and get news media involved as a start. Also informed that this is a dangerous problem and a lawsuit waiting to happen when my car catches on fire at the pump. They should replace the tank before I or a family member gets hurt fueling up my vehicle has this happen and a spark ignites a fire. Two hours later I received another call from Chrysler Corporate indicating they would cover it all but $350. I reluctantly said yes but after researching online I feel screwed and shouldn't have to pay for this. I'm going to fight it down to nothing or at least $50 like a warranty deductible. Chrysler Dodge should be ashamed that they aren't taking action to at least cover tank replacement to anyone experiencing this if they choose not to do a total recall. I paid top dollar for this vehicle. Where else can I complain to get action? Corporate greed at work again!!!

Not only is it dangerous, my car reeks of gas because it gets all over my shoes. I have had to throw away several pairs because of this and yet there is no recall. Obviously there is an issue, I have friend who owns a dodge, Nitro I think, but the same thing happens to her car as well.

When finished filling the tank, there is a 2 second delay and a sound of rushing air from the nozzle seated in the tank. Then about 1 or 2 cups of gas gushes out.

Other than that, a great vehicle. Considering there is a recall on 2005's for this same issue, it would seem that there would be a reliable fix for this.
