When pumping gas the pump shuts off and then the gas shoots out all over me and the side of the car. It happens every time I get gas and covers me and the side of the car with the spillage. Nothing has been done to fix the problem. I was told because I bought it used it was not something the company would fix. I hope a fire does not occur because of this overflow problem.
When filling up gas tank gas overflows creating a huge mess, at-least half a gallon comes gushing out. This has damaged the paint and has dowsed me with gasoline numerous times.
Purchased a used 2006 Dodge Durango with 21,000 miles on it in 2008. Last year 2009 with approx. 30,000 miles the gas would start shooting out of the fuel neck when I would fill up. This happens everytime I fill the tank up. It gets on the car, my clothes and the ground. Now I can only fill the tank up part way or get soaked with gas. This is very dangerous and they need to find a way to get it fixed.
Fuel tank overflow I have a 2006 Dodge Durango that has in the past 2 months developed a problem. Every time I fill up with gas (even at different stations), my gas tank over fills and gas is "gushing" out and a good amount is lost. This is a very unsafe situation due to every time I fill up gas runs down the side of my truck and creates a puddle on the ground which could catch on fire! I have done some research and discover a recall id# 58886 which seems to describe the same exact situation I am having. Unfortunate for me, this recall was for 2005 Dodge Durango's and not 2006. I believe a recall should be initiated for the 2006's as I have seen a lot of postings in forums of many 2006 Durango's experiencing the same problem, it appears to be a factory defect as it just started two months ago after about 70,000 miles.

Every time I fill my 2006 Dodge Durango up with gas, it overflows and spews gas everywhere. It spills approximately 1 pint of gas onto the ground and whomever is pumping the gas.
I own a 2006 Dodge Durango slt with around 70,000 miles on it. Everytime I fill up at a gas station from empty, the tank overflows around 4-5 cups of gasoline. Once the pump stops, gas starts spewing from the filler neck. I've contacted the dealer and they have stated the current recall only covers the 2005 Durango's and I would have to pay for this repair at my own cost. I feel this is a major safety issue and it needs to be addressed immediately! I have seen numerous reports about this on the web and even videos proving it yet nothing has been done about it.
2006 Dodge Durango. When I fill up the gas tank there is an overflow of gas that spews out of the gas tank neck after the tank shuts off. Approx. 1/2 gallon of gas ends up on me, side of car, and ground. This has happened about 5 times since November 2009. It has happened at different gas stations and I am not topping off the tank. I had the car checked at a dealer and they said the entire gas tank would need to be replaced. Apparently this has happened to 2005 Durangos and there was a recall.
My wife has a 2006 Dodge Durango that everytime you fill it up gas spits out all over the place. I researched on-line and found that there was a recall on the 2005 models. I also contacted my dealer with no help from them. It seems to me if they are having this problem on several year models it should be a recall before someone get hurt.
When filling up the vehicle before the gas shut off engages, gas will spew out from the tank covering our clothing, vehicle and person (hair, face, skin, arms) with gasoline. This occurs every time we fill the tank to its fullest so to remedy the problem, we stop before we know the vehicle would be full. However, this isn't a full-proof fix as this weekend, our son filled the vehicle and was covered in gas in his hair, face, and clothing.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The vehicle was parked and the contact observed a fuel spill when dispensing over a quart of gasoline into the fuel tank. The contact stated that the fuel sprayed out whenever dispensing fuel into the tank. The failure had occurred since vehicle was purchased. The dealer stated that the failures was directly related to the recall defect under NHTSA campaign id number 05V034000 (fuel system gasoline tank assembly). The failure and current mileages were 7,000.
Our 2006 Dodge Durango spits a large amount of gas out during refueling. When the tank is full and the pump shuts off the gas spits out all over you and the ground. There is about 20 ounces or so that does this. It happens everytime you fill the tank. The dealer said it was a device in the filler neck that goes bad often. This is a serious fire hazard and needs to be addressed.
We own a 2006 Dodge Durango that we purchased new. It now has approx. 34,000 miles. Within the last 3 months, the gas tank overflows whenever we fill up with gas. The fuel pump shuts off but then fuel comes gushing back up out of the tank. It runs all over down the side of the truck and splashes back usually landing on our feet and hands. I understand there was some type of recall for this same issue on 2005 Durangos.
With in the last 2 months without any warrning during filling up at an service station the gas tank over flowed losing about 1 - 1 1/2 gallons of gas. This has only happen once within the last 8 months which I don't return to that service station. Now it happen at all service station I been too. The only correction that don't cost is not to fill the tank to the recomened level. But with the tank not being fill more fuel is being burn depending on vehicle uses.
