The fuel spits out when refueling. The auto shut off does not stop the refueling until the fuel has already begun to spit out of my 2006 Dodge Durango.
2006 Dodge Durango - every time I fill up the gas tank to full, after it kicks off, gas spews out of the tank and goes all over the place. It sprays all over the side of the car and on to whoever is filling up the tank. This is very unsafe as gas has sprayed on to my face and mouth. I have seen Dodge has had this problem with earlier years and has rectified the problem, but they won't acknowledge for 2006 models. I have to slowly fill up the tank and try to quit before it reaches full to avoid the gas spraying on me. This is ongoing and not just a single incidence.
During every fill up at the gas station, gas spits out of the tank of my 2006 Dodge Durango. It doesn't matter what gas station or which pump I use. I have tried pulling the pump out in the middle of the fueling to vent the tank and this doesn't work either. There was a recall of 2005 Dodge Durangos for this very same problem. Obviously it was not corrected.
I have a 2006 Dodge Durango that every time I fill up at the gas station, when the tank gets full, the nozzle clicks and a rush of gas spills out. The Dodge dealer says it's not covered under a recall covering the same problem on other vehicles. I see there is a recall for 2005 Durango's but not 2006's. I have investigated this complaint on the internet and find many 2006 Durango owners having the same problem. I am seriously concerned that there will be an explosion due to the amount of gas spraying out. The dealer indicated that they were "unable to duplicate" the problem, but it happens at every time I fill up at every gas station that I have been using.
Every time I gas up my 2006 Dodge Durango, the gas pump will shut off from being full, but a couple seconds later, gas will spray out of the tank with the nozzle still in place, usually spraying myself or my wife and gasoline with then run down the side of the car causing issues with paint, but also leaving a puddle of gasoline. I fear this is a hazard, not only for the reasons of a possible fire, but I fear that the gasoline on myself or my wife will ignite or that it will otherwise cause respiratory or skin issues. This has been going on for a few months now, just after the warranty expired (of course). I fear no recourse with Dodge, they will not do anything to help since it is out of warranty, but I know this happens to many many others.

Around 35 K miles gas tank started spewing gas at the end of fill-up. About 1/2 gallon of gas spews several feet and all over side of Durango. Does this on every fill at all gas stations.
I have a 2006 Dodge Durango that when filling with fuel the fuel comes pouring out of the fuel filler. This occurs every time I let the pump try to stop on it own. I tried many gas stations to make sure it was not the pumps fault and found it happens at all gas stations. This is not safe as quote of fuel comes out that could start a fire or splash into the face of a short person. I talked to the dealer ship and they say I must replace the tank and possibly the fuel filler tube. This happens every time the vehicle is filled with fuel.
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango 4X4 limited with a 5.7L V8 on 13 May 2010. On three separate occasions from 13-26 may, the valve assembly failed to close on the gas tank filler pipe while refueling resulting in fuel overflow and spillage. This is the same problem that has been identified in the 2005 model year for Durangos in NHTSA campaign id number: 05V034000. After checking this website and Dodge's, no recalls for this defect exist for my VIN.
I have a 2006 Dodge Durango and gas overflows and sprays out of the filler neck when tank is filled. Several times I have had fuel sprayed on me when fueling.
Upon filling up my 2006 Dodge Durango VIN#[xxx] at the gas station gas sprays out of the inlet following pump shut-off. I brought the vehicle to Chrysler to fix and even though this is a widely know problem from my research they do not cover it outside of having a technical bulletin to aid in the repair. I have been sprayed on my person several times with gasoline because of this problem and on occasion have to inform the attendants of the spill due to the volume of gasoline. I see this as a serious safety issue that needs to be resolved on this year and the others that it effects as it is an obvious and dangerous design issue. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Every time when filling the gas tank, the fuel overflows and spills out. Started in early 2010. Have seen hundreds of similar complaints for the 2006 model on various websites. The 2005 model was recalled for this issue.
2006 Dodge Durango - when filling it up with gasoline, just after the pump clicks off a large amount of gas will come spraying out from the filler entrance. This has happened at different gas stations.
Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) while refilling the gas tank and using the automatic shut off feature of the pump head at every gas station we've used the gas overflows out on the ground once the release is tripped on the gas pump handle. This occurs at every station we've refilled the tank since the issue has arisen. Typically one cup of gas leaks out of the fuel open on each occurrence. 2006 Dodge Durango, VIN [xxx]. we started to notice this occurrence roughly mid year in 2009, the issue hasn't left since.
After completing refueling, gas will flow out of the nozzle under pressure (about one or two cups) and spill on the car and concrete. This occurs about 1/2 times.
While filling my 2006 Dodge Durango everytime I fill it full the nozzle kicks off and within 1-2 seconds gas come back out of the tank covering the nozzle and anything within 1-3 feet in front of the tank. Dropping about 1/2 gallon of gas everywhere.
Just purchased a 2006 Durango and filled with gas. Gas sprayed all over the vehicle and ground. Online postings shows this to be common but that only 2005 models were recalled, though the exact same problem. As a vehicle owner with a young family this concerns me. As an insurance investigator this disturbs me. I will be taking to a dealer in the next week or two in sioux falls, sd. Can anyone advise me of what I should say, since I anticipate they will not do anything given it's not part of the recall--it being an 06 and not an 05" as an investigator myself, I'd like to know if I can assist in gathering more information on this safety/environmental issue" thank you.
Fueling problem. At the end of fueling, excess fuel gushes out onto person and ground. This occurs every time vehicle is fueled. This creates a fire or explosion hazard. Dealer states that no recall has been issued for this problem. Vehicle has not been repaired.
