I have read all the others. And it seems that no one is really interested in assisting with a recall on this defective product. I too, like the others believed that Chrysler stood behind their vehicles, and after so many complaints of this defective horn, something would be done. But to my surprise, nothing has been. It's pass the cost off to the consumer. It only confirms that Chrysler is the reason for BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Very sad. I will join the hundreds of others who will never purchase a Chrysler product again. I had the fuse pulled, and now I have no airbag. Really how safe is that? I thought these vehicles had to pass a safety inspection, before being sold? We are not safe, without a horn or airbag. Really Chrysler are you that inconsiderate of your customers?
The dealership said that I had to get it replaced because it was a safety issue!!!! Why doesn't Chrysler think so? This causes major problems on the road because people start pulling over when the horn goes off for no reason whatsoever. I am not allowed to drive without a horn because in Canada it is part of the safety check. This is a defective part!!!! In the past I went to press the horn and there was no horn sound, but now the horn is making up for lost time by sounding whenever it wants. Whether you are in the car or not! I press the unlock on the key-fob and the horn goes off!!! Just pressing the horn a few times on the steering wheel makes it turn off. $1000 to get it fixed ... and did they redesign the part? Did they fix the issue or should I expect this again in a few months? They said I get a one year warranty, well the problem started 2 or 3 years after I got the car. They need to redesign the part!!!!!!
I don't know how much detail there can be. The horn goes off at anytime and can't be shut off. I had to have my mechanic disconnect the horn and take it out. People on line who have studied the problem, and there are many, say the fix is replacement of an electronic component in the steering column which costs about a grand to fix and Chrysler won't put it on recall because it's too expensive. I can believe that, because all businesses are interested in making money and to hell with the customer (sucker) who buys the product. All we can do is not buy any more of your products.
How can the horn going off by itself not be a SAFETY ISSUE????
Person in front of me pulled off to the side of the road! Cannot concentrate on driving when the horn is WAILING or just randomly deciding to start honking by itself! Almost had an accident with this going on!
Get off your asses CHRYSLER!!!!! This is a big safety problem that you are accountable for!!!!!! I have two grandchildren and I am handicapped!
How about one of your family members gets into one of these cars and starts going down the highway with the horn blowing because of a defect from the manufacturer????? Bet you would feel the same way....... if you have any kind of decency in you. This needs to be addressed NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is definitely a safety concern...went off while behind someone in traffic caused person in other car to think it was an emergency and they got out of the lane and almost hit by oncoming car.

I too went to the dealer and was told $152 to start to diagnose! I was floored and told them to forget it. Finally one guy told me to replace the batteries in my FOB. Well that cost $12 and was stupid. I knew it wasn't the problem but desperately did it anyway.
I live in San Diego and this started in November. I seem to have no problem except when it is cold. Between 9pm-9am. Lovely time for a car horn to go off (like the Chargers had just won the superbowl or something.) Beeeeeeeep Beep, beep beep beep beep, Beeeeeeep Beep ... repeat.
Thankfully my friend pulled the fuse. The problem is so upsetting and nerve wracking I couldn't even think straight. I'm going to contact Chrysler. I am mad as hell the dealership pretended to know nothing of this problem.

after checking this site and seeing all the complaints about chrysler sebring touring 2004-2008 i am even more angry my horn has a mind of it own and according to this site I am not alone and there is no hope in hell i will pay 1000 plus to fix a problem that is chryslers fault. Everyone has the same solution disconnect the horn or by pass then you have no airbags which is total bs so chrysler screws up and the consumer pays for it.
chrysler can bite me never again will i purchase a chrysler so angry that they wont recall cars which have the same problem

I went to my car one night, pressed unlock, and my damn alarm would NOT stop going off. I live in a condo complex, and it was about midnight so all my neighbors woke up, very upset and came out of their houses giving me dirty looks and yelling "turn it off!" as I yelled back "I can't! I'm trying!" Of course the guys were saying "Stupid girls.. they don't even know how to work a car alarm.." which made even more upset. The problem stopped for about 2 weeks so I figured it was over. It did the same thing again the other day. It rained yesterday (don't know if weather affects the horn). But now this morning, I woke up late for my midterm in college, and I was running to my car and hit unlock (having 10 minutes to be in class) and my alarm would NOT stop going off. I put the key in the ignition, hit unlock, lock, panic, turned the car on and off, and eventually it stopped. As I was driving to school, it did it again!!!!! I knew I couldn't park on campus because people would probably key my car or it'll disturb everyone else's midterm so I drove to a nearby grocery store and walked to school. By the time I actually got in class, my midterm was like over, and I had 5 minutes to do all the questions. Lucky it was multiple choice so I bubbled in random bubbles, and got a few points but still failed my midterm. I am SO angry right now.
I noticed the other hundred complaints and majority of them happen in cold weather. The horn goes off and doesn't want to shut off. I also pulled out the fuse but not having a airbag is not a good idea. I live in Florida and this cold spell shouldn't last long, I hope. I suggest everybody complain to chrysler maybe they will recall the part.
Several times my horn came on and honked continually. It happened when I was driving as well as when my car was just sitting in the driveway. I almost got a ticket from the local police one day because of it. It happened when I hit the button on the remote to unlock the car door, or for no reason at all... When I was driving, I had to push down hard on the center of the steering wheel as I steered with the other hand. It was very dangerous. When I took it to the car dealer, I was told it was caused by a "clock switch" that controls the horn and the air bag. It would cost over $600 just for the part. It will be around $1100 with labor. Since I don't have that much money to spare, my they told me to pull the horn relay fuse out. The service technician said doing that would stop the horn, but also prevent the air bag from deploying.
So now I am driving without a horn or an air bag, a major safety hazard, especially when my wife and children must ride in our car. I contacted Chrysler to lodge a complaint & they were very rude to me & the rep told me to do whatever as they have never heard of such a complaint, even though there are thousands of GTC owners that are complaining all over the internet of the exact same issues!!!
It is ridiculous that I have to sacrifice my family's safety due to no support from Chrysler. I could understand if it was a part that wears out , or could be broken by negligence, but IT'S NOT!! I informed them that I will register a complaint with ya'll too!
So about a year ago my horn would occasionally go off on its own. I can remember hearing a horn around 2am and wondered what was going on, then when I got up at 7am to go to work, I realized it was my car that had been blowing it's horn for the past 5+ hours, straight! It occasionally did the same thing, but mainly when it got really cold out. Now, I was traveling home for Thanksgiving, sitting in rush hour in Pittsburgh and my horn would not go off. This cannot happen, especially when you're sitting in rush hour. I was about to resort to making a sign that "my horn just won't turn off, it's not you I'm beeping at," but then it finally turned off after literally beating my horn. Then once I turned onto my street, it turned on again and for several minutes, after beating and kicking my steering wheel as hard as I could, it would not turn off so I had to pull the fuse in order to get it to stop. This is a serious issue, and a safety hazard, especially when living in the city.
My chrysler Sebring horn Keeps going off!!!!!! It started 3 months after i got my car, i was driving and out of no where the horn went off. i took it back to the dealership where i got it from and the "fixed it"...6months later i was driving and it went off again!!!! Since then, the horn goes off only at night or early in the morning 5am or earlier basically all mornings of the day mostly during the time my daugher, myself and neigbhors are asleep.
Had my building management threaten to fine me because of the complaints of the horn going off 2am and 3am in the morning. Took it to the dealer and they tried to change some sort of key-type lookinf thing but that didnt work. Then because my appartment building was harrasing me i had to have the dealer auto shop detach the horn/alarm system. So for 6 months i had to ride my car, which is unsafe, without a horn. I just took my car back to the dealer to get a tune-up and they tried rewiring the alarm system to see it that works but they dont know how to fix the problem. i dnt know what i will do if the alarm goes off 2nite!!!! Im so frustrated and i am at my ends with this horn going off. Man, this issue is causing me stress!!!!
Same issue as others...hit the horn while avoiding a possible crash, and the damn thing wouldn't shut off. Finally pulled the relay. It's obviously the switch in the steering wheel, because I could press it down (very hard) and get the horn to stop.
...dealer wanted $105 "diagnostic fee" when I simply asked for an estimate for replacing the switch. After a lot of arguing, they finally gave in, and told me it's estimated at 1.5 hours work, and their shop rate is $104/hr. The didn't mention replacing the airbag assembly, and they didn't leave me anything in writing. hmmm.
My 2006 Sebring touring Convertible horn keeps going off and honking continuously at all times of the night or when I first get in the car and turn on the ignition. this needs to be addressed. been told its a switch in the steering wheel having something to do with the air bag. I have taken out the horn fuse which makes the air bags now unable to deploy in an accident. this should be a recall for Chrysler.
My issue is the same as all the other complaints here. with out warning the horn just goes off only way to stop it is remove the fuse. I have been to my local dealer who told me it was either the clock spring or horn pad airbag assembly. The recommended clock spring fix first as it was less expensive. After $375.00 clock spring still have the same issue. I hear the horn pad air bag fix is $800 plus labor, not sure if this will even take care of the issue after reading all the complaints here.
I was not aware by removing the fuse I also disabled the airbag. Crap, don't feel safe in this thing anymore.
This happened to me at the Las Vegas Hilton on a Friday night, 11 pm...The horn went on and off all the way down the I-15 until I almost got home.
I went to the dealership the next day, after having my local tire service disconnect the horn. I told the service manager that Chrysler is notorious for having electrical problems...at first he tried to tell me that it was going to cost me xxxx amount of dollars... I told him no way!!! I believe I only paid between $75 - $100 to have this fixed. I know they had to remove the steering column, replace the air bag. What a pain. I know experienced the overheating gauge go on while having my foot on the brake today! geez!
