Vehicle was driving 60 mph and turned off, told me to put car in park while driving on the highway. Car now stalls too often (within a mile of starting) to drive. At repair shop now and cannot find a fix. Common problem with this vehicle.

We have had the Auxiliary battery replaced 3 times so far and the light for just came on again, the 4th time. Here are the dates and receipts for the replacements. Clearly there-??s a flaw somewhere And Chrysler is not addressing is with all the affected vehicles. I-??ve seen a recall on them but apparently my van is not part of it -?? even though they replaced that battery 3 times so far on average every 1 year 3 months. -??Chrysler has announced that 198731 vehicles have been affected by a Battery recall. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Pacifica vehicles equipped with engine stop/start systems. A loose battery ground connection may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist and/or a stall.-?? 7/24/23 Atlantic Dodge Ram - replaced Auxiliary battery under warranty (3rd time) and regular battery (see receipt below) Case #[XXX] 7/17/23 7/21/22 Atlantic Dodge Dealer Battery replaced 3/3/21 Purchased new battery at Garber Dealer & Atlantic Dodge dealer replaced regular battery and installed auxiliary battery I bought from Garber (see attached receipt) Please help I have a child that requires frequent doctor/hospital visits who almost died and we can-??t be dealing with this issue over and over again. When at a stopped position, the brake pedal gets stiff and starts pushing back -?? and then the car starts creeping forward. I-??ve almost hit countless cars in drive-through, and my car tries to creep through red lights. It-??s also very hard to brake. I went to one shop and they said it was the brake booster and vacuum hose, and that a lot of people were complaining about this issue in the Pacifica-??s. I took the car to a Chrysler dealership to get it repaired and they said the brake booster is on back order because it-??s a common problem. The only way to get the car to stop from rolling when you-??ve got the brake on is to slam down on the brake (then it-??s a crazy crunching sound) or to throw it into park before it gets you into traffic. It-??s scary and it-??s not safe.
My 2019 Pacifica Hybrid started showing a message around 07/19 -??Service Charing Station-?? followed by Service Park brakes, Service Parking system and was not able to start or control anything in the car. After 15 to 30 minutes it started working and no errors. On Friday, 07/26, car stopped all of a sudden (luckily my family was in the parking lot) and showed a different message -??Stop Safely. Vehicle will stop soon-?? message and after that it went completely dead. This is a concern that the vehicle would stop when driving and making the vehicle not responding to anything. You cannot control (brakes, driving modes, light) anything and when AAA jump started the car was in -??Running-?? mode and asking to power on the vehicle.
I had my three children in the van and was holding our new baby as I opened the automatic passenger-side sliding door. It opened part way, got stuck, but the autotrack kept operating trying to open the door. At that point, the whole door fell off and the window immediately behind the door broke. We had it towed to a dealer since we didn't want to drive it with everything open. I was very fortunate that the door didn't drop on my feet or that one of my children wasn't standing there waiting to get in! With the holiday, we are waiting to talk to our insurance agent on Monday. The dealer has given us an estimate to fix everything, but that is the only thing like an inspection. Prior to the incident, the door would sometimes stop when opening, then it would reverse and close itself. Then you could reopen it and it worked. There were no other warnings.
Have replace both batteries every year since purchased, the engine start stop acts up alot of the time when you pull up to a red light the engine will turn off and then turn on automatically (shuts the electrical system completely down then it will come back on) the batteries like over heat and swell up will this cause a fire
The entire radio/ backup camera freezes and will not come back on for minutes at a time. The dealer is aware of the problem and replaced the entire system once already. They were not able to reproduce the issue however I have video and pictures of a few incidents. There were no warnings however it almost always happens when first starting the car and so the backup camera becomes unusable along with all temperature controls and radio.
The Uconnect 4 infotainment system is consistently rebooting every 2-3 minutes, leaving several safety measures for the vehicle from being used during those times. This leaves risk that the safety feature is not usable when needed for example rear warning for small child behind vehicle is not operable. As well the Navigation system is not working appropriately and has the vehicle always located at a street that I am no where near. This leaves risk that it will be a distraction to driver to locate their whereabouts in unfamiliar areas. Also not able to use hands free system for mobile device when the system is continuously rebooting as such and therefore would not be able to make call for emergency assistance when needed. FCA US LLC has been provided many complaints about this yet continues to ignore that this is a wide spread issue and is nationwide. Therefore they fail to extend the warranty related to the Uconnect 4 infotainment system and render thousands of people having to cover the cost of their faulty Uconnect product.
Suddenly, without warning, the radio changes stations (goes from SXM to radio, etc) and the entire display goes amok switching from radio to climate control to other functions. Then the climate control system malfunctions causing the temperature to continuously go up as well as the heated seat and steering wheel to get hotter and hotter. It first occurred in March 2022 (when van was under warranty) and was brought in to Chrysler who did NOT record the incident and said they saw nothing wrong. Today (now that it is out of warranty) they say they have to reset the radio thing ($200-ish) and maybe replace the entire system ($1300-ish). We have video of both incidents, but there were a few in between that we didn't record. I cannot figure out how to upload the 2 videos.
Vehicle parked faced in in a tight fitting space in a hotel underground parking area. When leaving the knob was in the park position, push button start, vehicle started in the park position, looked behind and the people across from me had just loaded their van. They were now on the side of their van. It was now clear. I then placed the transmission from park to reverse still with the foot on the brake. I then released the brake. The vehicle suddenly and abruptly went in reverse without accelerating but when applying the brake the vehicle would not stop and continued going backwards even though I was firmly now pressing and pumping on the brake pedal to no avail. I yelled at my wife, "it won't stop, it won't stop" It backed up not stopping for approximately 25 feet and struck two vehicles finally coming to rest, The damage to all three vehicles including mine was minor. I reported the accident on private property to my insurance company. I know for a fact that my foot did not push down on the accelerator pedal nor was part of my foot on both the brake and accelerator pedal. which is almost impossible to do. The stop start system had broken three times since purchasing the van. This was done again 2 weeks before this accident. The vehicle is available for inspection. Quite apparent ithis is a safety risk. This occurred 1 day ago and has not been inspected. Accident on private property in Calif. No accident report was taken. No warning lamps, messages etc occurred. I keep the van in good repair. No warnings light at all other than the stop start feature which was dealt with by the Chrysler dealership. They, in my opinion have not been helpful to me. The rep I talked with at the dealership re the stop start problem was not aware that the alternator is 14 volts and the battery 12 volts. How basic.
On two different occasions and in two different places my vehicle stalled.Once on a highway in a traffic jam and once coming off a highway exit on my way home. In both cases the vehicle simply lost power. It is a 2019 Pacifica Touring L. I looked it up and saw similar complaints concerning the hybrid model but none for a non-hybrid. The vehicle is available for inspection. It is an extreme safety issue as both happened on or just leaving a major highway with lots of traffic. I am taking it into the local dealer hopefully tomorrow. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone as of this date. No warning lights or messages flashed prior to the events. The vehicle has been serviced by the local Chrysler dealer up until the last oil change at 48,000 miles. On each occasion I instinctively stabbed the "start" button and it fired right up. Dates were 12/01 and 12/09.
-The auto stop and start function component failed, then the battery died and let me know when you want to inspect it. Weekends are best. -The car shuts off randomly. -Unknown -Unknown -The auto stop and start function message pops up all the time, even after the battery was replaced. Car shut down two months ago and wouldn't turn on, had to have it jumped and then replace the main battery. Now it's following the same pattern as last time. I am going to replace the second battery. Sometimes when accelerating it jumps forward and it makes a banging sound. Key has a new battery in it. When key is pressed sometimes horn is weak. It goes on and off. The auto stop and start function message pops up a lot even after main battery was replaced.
We had put a ladder on the roof of our van to return to Home Depot, and I opened our rear gate. I didn't know it at the time, but the van's rear gate could not open all the way at the top because of the ladder, which hung a few inches over the top of the gate. Because I didn't know the ladder was in the way, when the rear gate opened, I bent over inside the van with my small dog to put her in her crate. Immediately, I heard the warning beeper start to go off, but before I could move out of the way, the gate came zooming down fast on my head and I had to squeeze to the size and fell into my driveway bushes trying to get out of the way. Thankfully, neither I nor my dog were harmed, but we could have both been seriously injured or killed. I have no idea why a rear gate would descend so fast or not sense that I and my dog were present.
We have automatic sliding doors. My six-year-old son was exiting a door that he didn't know was closing, and it closed on his head. It did NOT stop or retract when it hit an obstruction. It kept going. If I hadn't been right by the button and hit it, it could have crushed him or killed him. There was no warning bell, nothing. He was screaming and so was I. This is a vehicle that is marketed to families with small children.
Loss of Motive Power reoccurrences (2 incidents) AFTER 1803A182 Safety Recall 03A correction was performed, 9 May 2023, by reprogramming Hybrid Control Processor/Aux Hybrid Control Processor on 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid (mileage: 35,180) Experienced a sudden loss of power twice; 16 and 17 September 2023. - 16 SEPTEMBER: Having just merged into one lane from two and speeding up hill (from approx. 20 mph) to merge onto highway, a sudden loss of power occurred without an adequate shoulder to pull off, resulting in time critical crash avoidance maneuvers by all vehicles behind us. No known crashes occurred within our viewing range. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Unable to shut down vehicle for 2-3 minutes Check Engine Light illuminated Dash Diagnostic screen: -??Service Charging System-?? error Electric Power available: 56% Fuel: 3/8th) - 17 SEPTEMBER: After running a preliminary diagnostic test with my personal OBD tester, I noticed that the Check Engine Light turned off after the connection activated. I did NOT clear any codes. After printing the list of faults generated from the evening prior, I chose to take it for a short test drive. While waiting at a stop light within a mile from my house, the same issue occurred again, -??Service Charging System-?? error followed by two additional alternating notification on the dash, -??Service Shifter-?? error and -??Service Shifter Stop Safely Shut Off Vehicle to Engage Park, -?? with the transmission indicator selector knob lost illumination and became non-responsive. (as seen in attached pictures from previous incidents) Luckily, everyone was stopped this time. Within 20-30 seconds, the entire vehicle, including dashboard went completely dead then blipped back on as if nothing had happened, allowing me to make it home safely.
Hood has rusted throughout most of the entire hood UNDER the paint. no accident has occurred, but extremely concerned hood may break apart and crash into windshield and cause a severe dangerous accident. Other vehicles of this kind may have same serious problem.
The auto start stop service light keeps going on. It drains the battery. The car now puts itself into park while at a red light or stop sign. In the last year I've had 2 batteries replaced and since 2019 the car has been in the shop 5 or 6 times, still they cannot fix the issue.
