The power steering would go out, a notice would come up stating " power steering unavailable", then the power steering would work for about 60 seconds and go out again and then repeat the problem. This just starting happening on 4/10/21. We had just gotten into the van and started driving, we went about 1/2 mile, it happened a total of 4 times. We turned around and brought the vehicle back home and it happened 2 more times

REPEATED, VIDEO DOCUMENTED OCCURENCES OF VEHICLE STALLING, LOSING POWER STEERING, AND LOSING ALL DRIVER-ASSIST FEATURES, TO INCLUDE TRACTION CONTROL, BLIND SPOT MONITORING, POWER STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, AIRBAGS, AND OTHER SYSTEMS. THE PROBLEM HAS REPEATEDLY OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION; HAS OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY AS WELL AS IN PARKING LOTS. THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY EXHIBIT 'HAYWIRE' BEHAVIOR, WHICH INCLUDES FUEL AND POWER GAUGES RANDOMLY FLUCTUATING UP AND DOWN, AND ALL ABOVE SAFETY SYSTEM WARNINGS INTERMITTEDLY INDICATING THEY ARE OFFLINE. IN EXTREME SCENARIOS, POWER STEERING WILL BE LOST. ADDITIONALLY, IN ONCE SCENARIO, THE 'HAYWIRE' BEHAVIOR PRECLUDED THE ABILITY TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WITHOUT RESORTING TO DISCONNECTING HARD-WIRE BATTERY CONNECTIONS. MULTIPLE VIDEOS HAVE BEEN MADE DOCUMENTING THE BEHAVIOR. PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE WITH MANUFACTURER RESORTED IN NO CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE TO 'FAILURE TO DUPLICATE' THE ISSUE, DESPITE HAVING VIDEO SHOWING THE OCCURRENCE. ORIGINALLY BROUGHT TO DEALER AND NHTSA ATTENTION IN 2020 (NHTSA COMPLAINT #11292415). DEALER HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND IN THE PAST WEEK THE ISSUE HAS RECURRED, NOW MORE CONSISTENTLY THAN THE INCIDENT PREVIOUSLY REPORTED. WITHIN THE PAST WEEK, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE, RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE "HAYWIRE" BEHAVIOR CONTINUES, WITH PERSISTENT WARNINGS AND LOSS OF ESSENTIAL SYSTEMS, AND THE "HAYWIRE" BEHAVIOR INCREASES DISTRACTIONS BY IMPOSING FALSE BLINDSPOT WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS AND INTERMITTENTLY CHANGING BRIGHTNESS OF THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC DISPLAYS AT RANDOM, AS WELL AS PERSISTENT AND INTERMITTENT LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY OF ESSENTIAL SAFETY SYSTEMS, INCLUDING AIRBAGS AND OTHER DRIVER SAFETY FEATURES. VIDEOS OF THE BIZARRE, "HAYWIRE BEHAVIOR" ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The steering wheel often "sticks" or "catches" while driving. It happens on both city streets and highways, generally after turning the steering wheel. There was a recall on the vehicle which affected the power steering. Even after having the vehicle serviced to address the recall, the problem persists. The mechanic says the problem is with the rack and pinion, which needs to be replaced. There should not be problems with the rack and pinion on a 4-year-old vehicle. I am wondering if the problem that necessitated the recall also compromised or damaged the rack and pinion.

Electric panel fried. Driving all of a sudden on highway my power steering light came on jerked me to the right very hard and the in lane light pop on that's turned off in my van. And all of a sudden jerked me extremly to the left. Good thing traffic wasn't going to fast I would of been dead. When ever you would accelerate it would do it again. I was trying to get in the slow lane to pull over. Figure the car needed to be turned off and reboot computer. That didn't help as it proceeded to do it. So got off the highway. Car only has little over 28,000 mile S in it.

The power steering assist is not working properly, the car pulls to the right and it's hard to get it back on the road, there is a recall V053 to address a power steering issue, but the dealer states that recall is not causing my problem and to fix the issue will cost $3400. How do I know if the recall is the problem or troncalli's diagnostic test results?

While driving the steering wheel will stick like the power steering is failing. It is most noticeable when on the highway. If you turn slightly to the right, the steering wheel will then stick and then you have to give a jerk to the left to get it back to center. It feels like the power steering is going out. I see that there is a recall on the van for the power steering on some models but when I checked the VIN on mine it said it wasn't included. I'm concerned that my vehicle is having the same issue but was not included in the recall.
