This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Transmission is faulty; will often times struggle to accelerate, resulting in a lag off the start. Also experience extremely hard shifting during acceleration. Vehicle has been to the shop multiple times, yet each time they "aren't able to replicate" the issue; dealership advised Chrysler is aware of this issue, but there is no fix, so they simply give back a defective vehicle. This isn't safe for my family and is unacceptable; apart from the power train, there are further A/C, electrical, and craftsmanship issues, all of which are now out of warranty, leaving us stuck with an unreliable & unsafe vehicle.
Accelerating from stop. Vehicle will stall/loose synchronization between engine power/transmission. Multiple events from both straight/turning situations. Following lose of acceleration, transmission slams back into accelerating causing loss of control. Steering is affected during event(s).
The Pacifica has a stalling problem when taking off. Then it jerks into gear really bad. This problem has been on going. Dealership supposedly had fixed the problem, when the vehicle was under warranty. It now is out of warranty and the problem is still there.
When accelerating at low speeds the van shifts hard into gear and will not continue to accelerate even though the gas pedal is pressed. If I do not let off the gas when this happens the van will lunge forward. This happens in all conditions and on all road types. I have taken it to the dealership and they said it's fine. I can not replicate this on demand.
As I was driving my vehicle on a busy road it started to stutter and shut down. I lost steering wheel function as well as gas pedal function. The control panel instructed me to place my car in park to be able to restart it.
Multiple times our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has revved up, then stalled. The screen tells the driver to put the car in park. I did, then was able to put it in drive again. Sometimes it completely stalls, other times the RPM increases then the car decelerates and I cannot drive over 20 mph. This has happened while driving slowly at an intersection as well as driving on a highway.
While driving rough shifting from the 9-speed automatic transmission it is noted that it has a tendency to bang or shift rather rough into 2nd gear on upshifts under moderate acceleration at low speeds. It has been an issue from 10K-present miles. Dealer states is fine, this can be rather dangerous due to the force and jerk from the transmission. If the transmission were to stall the traffic behind would hit us. This sill happen when starting from a stopped position and also while driving on city streets. There definitely needs to be a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed. Very frustrating when a dealership tells you everything is fine when it isnt.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced hard shifting while changing gears and while slowing to a stop. The vehicle was taken to bob howard Chrysler located at 13252 broadway ext, Oklahoma city, ok 73114, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that a transmission software update was needed. The software was updated however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
When accelerating the car will jerk. It happens at random times. Will happen whether the car is driving through the city or accelerating onto the highway. I believe this is a transmission issue. I have contacted the dealership and they have told me the transmission is a lifetime transmission and fluid does not need to be changed. This has been happening for almost 6-8 months now.
This vehicle has stalled out and completely shut off while driving. No warning or anything just driving around 50mph and everything shuts off and steering locks up you cannot control the vehicle.then the screen pops up telling you to place in park while your still traveling 50mph. This has now happend 3 times. It happens the first time in May 2019 around 48,000 miles and now 2 time on July 8 2020 at 74,000 miles. I have read several articles online that this is happening to alot of these vehicles and there has been over 50 complaints but nothing has been done yet. This is a highly dangerous vehicle to drive in. Something must be done to project families for getting injury's. luckily this has happened to me on smaller roads and not a highway yet! this can be deadly!
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, and shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, the vehicle lacked forward motive power with an abnormal clunking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Virginia beach (3152 Virginia beach blvd, Virginia beach, va 23452; (877) 475-0721) who stated that a transmission hard code was retrieved by the dtc scanner. The dealer replaced an unknown part in the transmission control module however, the failure recurred. The dealer then stated that the hub flange needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Vehicle stopped starting - the following issues were being displayed. 1. vehicle not in park, service trans stope safely shut off engine to engage park, service electronic stability control, park sense unavailable, service shifter problem. Unable to operate tail gate, unable to operate sliding doors the vehicle was in stationary model while motion I am having issues when speeding up from 20 to 30 miles per hour the car stalls and then picksup car was in idle state and suddenly the car stops responsing
The van kicks into gear with a loud thug. Happens a lot when driving slower on city streets. Dashboard lights turn off for short periods of time. This occurs when I am driving fast or slow.
The vehicle has had several cases of shifting hard or clunking when going from one gear to another, most noticeable from 1st to second gear. This issue does not happen every day or even every month, but I'm guessing at least 4 times a year. Issue usually happens after starting to move from a dead stop, such as at a traffic light, etc. The date of this happening is approximate and has happened several times over the last 3-4 years.
When going at lower speeds as well as freeway speeds the car will lurch and roughly shift. It seems to have a difficult time shifting into gears while driving.
The engine, brakes, steering all seized up on takeoff. I had to turn off the car and turn it back on. It happened while trying to cross a busy road. Extremely dangerous and scary. On other trips, the gears seem to change roughly when accelerating at times and not others.
The gear shifts very hard when going at slow speeds. It is so rough that one tries to avoid it at all costs when driving, thus increasing the risk of an accident. Irrespective of the risk, it seems that the vehicle's power train is faulty and it needs to be recalled.
