ABS brakes not operable, increased stopping distance. ABS light on constantly since date indicated, dealers say no safety issue and will not repair under warranty. Notification to Chrysler Corp.
ABS warn lite on cost $300 + 1st time 2nd time, want $300+again no end to this could lead to fatal crash when or if wheel does not perfom as required during hard stopping. Please review problem as it is costly because of many components in ABS system and mechanics seem to have trouble fixing problem 1st time around.
While driving vehicle the consumer tried to stop at a red light when she stepped on brakes pedal, the pedal went all the way to the floor, and vehicle did not have any brakes. Consumer had taken vehicle to dealer a few times for the same problem.
ABS brakes lock up and occasionally grind when stopping; also, premature wear of front brake pads. In addition, vehicle experienced power steering fluid leakage;insufficient lighting from heaflights and check engine light constantly comes on due to wiring problems.
Recall 96V075000, after having recall work performed on 1/31/97, the brakes failed and caused owner to have an accident on 2/19/97. Mechanic stated that brakes were in bad shape.
Driving, tried applying brakes, they took for a bit, then suddenly no brakes (ABS); was unable to stop vehicle; steering wheel made whinning noises. Took to dealer severaltimes for repairs.
