CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.

The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

This morning when I was driving with my 2 year old daughter, my car had major failures. While driving on a highway (us-46), the anti-lock brakes failed first, then went the power steering next. Luckily I was able to pull off the road in time before getting crushed by a tractor trailer. Funny thing is, I knew this was coming. I called my local dealership on Wednesday to tell them I suspected my car was going to have the same issues others have had. My car started shaking quite a bit when I was drinking on Tuesday 2/21/17. When you research this for this model, you'll find all sorts of scary stories, like mine today. When I called the dealer's service department I was totally blown off, treated like a moron, and told they could see me on March 7. helpful, right? so I made an appointment at another dealership for tomorrow morning 2/25/17. Alas, I didn't make it. This is a very serious issue. Had I been driving on an interstate, this could have resulted in a major accident. I just hope someone reads this and understands 1. this is not the first person it happened to and 2. this issue is going to kill someone. I escaped with my life today. Others may not.

I were in little but really scared accident with my almost new Chrysler. In very slow traffic (5-7 miles/hour) when I tried to come home after work meeting from kirkland suddenly I realized that my brakes don't wanna stop the car with light tapping as it was ok previously, then tapped on brake harder and then panic and realized the brake. I end up with hang on the tail (the little thing attached to the rear end of the car) of big track. I tried to say something about brakes problem to my insurance, but collision repair company did not confirm my concerns and I paid $1000 deductible as the driver in fault (in the future it will affect my monthly pay for insurance). I tried to find the solution but only my family can support me without laughing at my problem with the car safety. One of my friends told me, that I need to involve some of an independent professional and stop trying talk to the wall. Chrysler already took an advantage of my not fair purchase and then my trade-in with them (my dealership refused to replace my previous Chrysler 200 for safety reason again!!! and sold to me my current Chrysler for $43,000 and it's not safe still!!!). in additional, I scared with the noise producing by the car while I'm driving: There are two types of noise from the engine when it's going down of the hill and windows or something like windows shaking noise. Frankly saying, I have very upsetting experience with the dealership and start looking for the second opinion with treating me as the fair and professional business. Please let me know what is in the options to keep my life safe since I have a strong feeling, that I'm not safe to drive my Chrysler. Thank you!

Over the past six months, car has been in and out of multiple dealerships for brake system and transmission issues. The transmission shifts erratically and lurches without warning. The brake system has now caused three accidents. The brake pedal will suddenly go to the floor, and lose all braking power. This has resulted in one major collision. Dealers have "fixed" the issues but they return. Parking brake randomly activates on its own, causing rear wheels to lock and a loss of control of the car. This last occurence the parking brake activated on its own, causing us to skid into a ditch while travelling 70mph. The dealer said the issue was the battery and returned the vehicle to us after charging us because the battery apparently isnt covered under warranty. The next day the brake system completely failed. The car has been in the shop for two weeks now. The have replaced every major component of the braking system, but cannot get the cars brakes to work properly. Chrysler either has no comment or doesn't care about the safety of its customers.

Purchases car on Aug 4, 2015 since day I purchased car it has had a hesitation when shifting into drive at initial start. You start car and turn dial to drive but if U immediately try to take off the engine will just rev as if your in neutral it takes about 15-30 seconds once you turn the dial before car is in gear. After about maybe 10,000 miles I noticed car would sometimes jerk as if it had been stuck in a gear maybe this has randomly happened several times around 60+ mph brakes hard and difficult to push down had to stand on them and still barely stopped. Shut car off and restarted 20 min later and they were fine. Service AWD light came on at about 60,000 miles after purchase and install of brand new tires. Went off and came back on about a week later and car began making a high pitced winding sound (sort of like an open faced fishing reel when you cast or reel it in) then all the sudden heard a big clunk when sit ring at stop sign it was loud and jogged the car to the point I though maybe a deer ran into the side of the car. I took off but immediately pulled overy and walked around the end car to check and didn't see anything. Noticed when I took off the winding had quit. But the next day it began again took car to dealership because the winding noise had gotten so loud they told me they couldn't check it while doing oil change had to be scheduled. I raised hell until someone came out from service when oil change was done and went for a ride with me. Noise was completely gone serv AWD light still on tho scheduled appointment to have light turned off for 4 days later. Drove 30 miles when I left dealership and it began again stopped to drop kid off and was headed back to dealership but when I restarted car noise gone and AWD light was off. Noise comes and goes over next 2,000 mi now AWD light back on and car is horrible in snow without AWD.

When accelerating, car 'misses' shift points. Dealer states that "everything is normal" when coming to a stop, car lurches forward unexpectedly, nearly causing a crash every time. Once again dealer says this is "normal operation". driving down the highway at 55mph, brake pedal went dead and emergency parking brake activated, causing car to skid off the road. Dealer says that nothing is wrong with the brakes, yet this has happened over 6 times in the past 6 months.

Starting in July 2016, I have had issues with my parking break. On 3 separate occasions (most recent on 8/19/16), the parking break would not release and I was unable to drive. I was stuck for about 20-30 minutes each time. The car jumps as I accelerate (this has been happening since from day 1), as if it is having a problem transitioning between gears. This tends to happen when I am driving low speeds, like driving out of a parking structure, or accelerating from a complete stop. Yesterday my car would not start. Electricity was on (radio, lights etc) but the car would not start. Jumping it helps.

Took my car into private shop for an oil change at 11967 miles on 7/29/2013. Was told that both of my front calipers are leaking. Took to nearby Dodge dealer so I could get to work on time. The service writer blew excuses at me. "well that is not a leak." Looking right at the driver side caliper I said ok then what is seaping from that caliper. And he continued saying that this not something the dealer has seen as a problem. They ended up not releasing the car to me because of the brake calipers. I have a rental now. So did I buy a timebomb" I had problems with my 2013 challenger rt with a very soft brake pedal. Can you help" I am scared to get back in this 200.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the brakes failed, and the service stability and traction control lights illuminated. The vehicle independently surged at a high rate of speed while reversing or in drive. When the driver reversed the vehicle, it backed into the garage door twice without warning. The driver applied force to the brake pedal both times and the vehicle continued to surge in reverse. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle twice, but was unable to provide a repair solution. The dealer replaced the brake switch, but the failure continued. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired for months. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000....updated 09/14/16 the consumer stated there was a code found that reported the brake and gas pedal were being depressed at the same time. The vehicle caused two crashes

In January 2015, I purchased a 2015 Chrysler 200S from reedman toll auto world. I owned the vehicle for approximately 3 months and in March, 2015 during a snowstorm I was driving in the vehicle with my fiance and 5 year old son. I was traveling at approx 30mph in bensalem, pa. The vehicle locked up. The parking brake engaged, no power steering, no ABS, no traction control, transmission stopped engaging. I hit the brakes and slide into an intersection. I had my fiance get into the drivers seat and I push the car off the roadway into a side street. At that time I walked my fiance and son home approximately 1 mile to our apartment. I then walked back to the disabled car. I waited for approximately 2 hours for a tow truck to arrive from Chrysler roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed into reedman toll auto world. When the car was looked over it was deem to be fine and I was told to pick it up. I did not do that. I told them I didnt feel safe driving that vehicle any longer. So then I spoke with the general manager of reedman's and they told me they could get me into a different vehicle. I was poorly educated with my options back then and I wanted to just get a safe vehicle for my family. So I purchased a 2015 Chrysler 200C. On January 23th, 2016 I was driving my 2015 Chrysler 200C with my fiance. I was driving at approximately 20mph and the identical situation occurred again. It was 10 months after my last incident and with a totally different vehicle. This time I contacted Chrysler directly. I still havent heard anything from Chrysler. Reedman's told me that there was some snow in there and they removed that and re flashed the computer system and now its "perfect". I find this to be really unacceptable and unsafe. More information including pictures and videos can be provided.
